Hydaelyn Role-Players

Full Version: [21 August 2017] Opt-in testing of new RPC Layout
You're currently viewing a stripped down version of our content. View the full version with proper formatting.
Hello! A few of you may have seen me alluding to this, and here's the official post on it. I'll be opening semi-limited public testing of the new RPC Site for testing and feedback.

I'd like to once-again thank our Patreon members and the members who did a one-time donation to help cover the cost of InvisionPower and our server-hosting expenses.

The sites available for testing and feedback are:
https://ffxivrp.org
https://wiki.ffxivrp.org

To get login access, please post in the thread, PM me, or open a thread requesting access in the Requests and Feedback forum. Because the new site is running on a testing server with limited resources, not all features will be as responsive as they will be once they're applied to the actual RPC servers.

Do note that the layout and organization of the sites may change a bit during this time. We are still investigating how we'd like to migrate certain features and sections of the current RPC to the new site. I will do what I can to keep this thread updated with any feature adjustments added to the test sites and of any bus I am aware of.

The test site database was cloned from RPC on August 1st. The wiki had an older clone used. Not all users and content was carried over and accounts and pages may need to be recreated.

Feature changes since: August 21
Calendar:
  • The upcoming events section currently only reads from the Balmung Events Calendar import. This may be changed to all calendars or just on-site events. for other event calendars to import, please let Unnamed Mercenary know!

Bugs / Known issues:

Forums:
  • Custom quotes popular in MyBB are not supported. They have been turned into generic quotes without titles. IPS enforces that quotes must come from a valid user.

Workaround: Use a spoiler with title for custom quotes.

Gallery:
  • Coppermine Gallery images have been imported, however the conversion could not retrive user data. User albums have been made public. All images are currently owned by "nobody". RPC staff will be trying to manually reassign owner ship of images to their original owners for the full upgrade. If this proves to difficult, we will adjust ownership on request.
  • An issue where scrolling down on the main gallery page does not seem to work. It appears to be stuck on the top of the page. Scrolling in albums works fine, however.

User Management:
  • Users that previously had multiple RPC accounts registered to the same email address have been merged. This results in a loss of reputation points and possible Private Messages. Threads and Posts are however ported over. The oldest account registered has been made the primary/only account.

Wiki:
  • The "RPC Forums" button on the test wiki is a hard link to http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com. If you head to the test wiki, you'll need to manually get back to the test forums.
  • The new visual wiki editor does not yet have support for handling content made with other plugins. This includes both tab systems currently enabled. If you make use of an advanced wiki layout using the <headertabs> or <tab> tags, please use the edit source button instead.
  • There is a "templates" feature in the new visual editor. This code is still a work in progress and may not actually work! For now, the visual editor is here to make quick building of wiki pages a little easier. It may not be compatible with all user-contribute page templates or {{template}} wikicode. It looks amazing! I went to the gallery right away of course -- found a little issue there. I'm not sure if it's just on my end, but anytime I scroll down on the main gallery page, it automatically and immediately scrolls me back up.

The individual galleries themselves are fine.

I've been seeing this too, but it hadn't always been there. It might be linked to how the albums are currently set up or from the import after I moved a bunch of stuff around. It's on my list of things to look out for when we go through the full upgrade!
