RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Viola - 07-11-2015

Viola wears a simple brooch attached to a collar around her neck at all times. This brooch means practically everything to her, and she almost never removes it (unless out of necessity, like bathing). The only one she'll trust touching it, ever, is her "father", who taught her everything from how to act to how to fight.

While everything she has is from the Dark Knight who raised her, she holds the brooch above all else.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Jerciex - 07-11-2015

Ring in necklace. It is totally normal and plain  brass ring. It is memento about promise and someone important to him.

Jerciex was supposed to tell his feelings for other person after Battle of Cartenau, as promise they will come back alive, but this person went missing during battle. Only thing left behind was this ring and promise...

Kaiten wears a ring--specifically a silver and mythril-wrought band--on his left ring finger. It's a wedding band he received when he and his wife were betrothed to one-another during their younger years. Having had it since his early adolescence means it's been reshaped and re-sized several times and it holds no small amount of sentimental value. It's incredibly unlikely to see him without it.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Klynzahr - 07-11-2015

I guess that I missed this it's first time round...

While it is not technically a trinket, Klynzahr is extremely attached to the poorly fitted maelstrom sargent's coat that she carries on her journeys. Klynzahr is not a member of the Maelstrom and has no intention to join them. The coat actually belonged to her stepmother, who was a particularly small and feisty Sea Wolf marauder. Thanks to some alterations made before the birth of her youngest half-brother, Klynzahr is now able to fit into her stepmother's old coat, although it's still too short for her.

One of the coat's pockets always holds a carved wooden glasses case. The other one holds a small charcoal sketch in a cracked bronze frame. The drawing depicts a particularly skinny ten year old version of Klyn seated next to a tiny Hyuran boy, while the glasses case shows a sailing ship etched above the name Eyritrachen.

Some people have noted Klynzahr's apparent attachment to her old falchion blade. However her connection of the sword is far more practical. Since it was the primary weapon used during her gladiator career, it has saved her life and the lives of her friends more times than she cares to count. She hates what the blade stands for, yet feels immeasurably safer with it by her side.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Asmodean - 07-11-2015

Asmodean carrys a number of items his mother once owned, a locket, a sliver sword and a old leather bound tome.

Locket: A simple sliver locket kept on a steel chain around his neck, hidden by his heavy armor. He has never shown the item off as he has never felt close to anyone enough before to really feel comfortable to.

Sword: A seemingly simple sliver blade of a standard arming sword length. Asmodean carries the weapon on his belt and rarely uses the weapon having relied on his ax for combat. Well kept and clearly cleaned and polished on a near daily basics.

Tome: His mother's old journal written in a odd runic text save for the final ten or so pages. Is far older then what it seems, Asmodean has been seem from time to time in the local bar trying to translate what he can.

Dren always carries a chipped, rusty dagger with him. He never uses it to fight, it would likely break anyway, it just has meaning to him...

Jade has his wedding ring. I think the symbolism is pretty self explanatory lmao. There's also the green clip he has on his ear that he wears because of his name.

Nekhii holds any gift he gets dearly. He was given a ring in Ul'Dah as a reward and to him it means the world because it's a symbol of being accepted and wanted by others.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Lekka Meyren - 07-13-2015

Lekka has a home-made deck of cards. They're time-worn and very used, hand crafted by her mother; and they remind her of just being a little family, in a land where everyone wasn't so tiny.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Enla - 07-13-2015

Enla wears three separate trinkets, though only two of them hold any sort of meaning.
  • An orange crystal with a long string of leather looped through a hole cut at the top. A present from her late father that she only recently came into possession of; the crystal holds no special powers or any deeper meaning beyond being one of the first true possessions her father ever possessed after leaving his tribe after his majority. She wears it whenever she leaves the apartments she shares with her beau, and it's rarely out of arms reach.
  • A simple pendant with the images of a conjurer's cane and a lance etched into the relief. As present from Nicholas it too is one of her most dear possessions, and unlike her father's pendant she almost never removes it. Though part of that is due to the fact that the pendant, unlike the crystal, isn't liable to jab her with any sharp edges in the middle of the night.
  • A simple leather eyepatch that she wears to cover the now empty socket that her right eye once called home. The only time this is ever removed is during sleep and when she wishes to make a production out of making someone lose their lunch.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Hammersmith - 07-13-2015

Hammer's got a few things:
  • A set of brass earrings with a story behind them. He's wearing them most of the time.
  • A lockbox with paper-lantern making material.  Refer to "Letters Home" as to why that's important.
  • Knives. So many knives.  These in particular because they've been lifted off of bodies, the result of one on one fights or corpses on a specific battlefield.
  • A brass lantern with a lot of writing on the bottom, also noted in "Letters Home"
  • The key to his planned retirement home.  You know.  The one under 6 feet of ocean after the moon dropped.
  • A pipe recently made for him by his current free company.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Banquo Viaquo - 07-15-2015

North carries his lapel pin; the metallic maple leaf that marks his prior service to the Aerstorn family.

It's doubtful if Banquo possesses anything you could assign sentimental value to. Still, he's rarely seen without his golden sunglasses, through which all of Eorzea gleams like gil.

Oh is that what that was? I used that last week.

My bad.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Jancis - 07-15-2015

Jancis has been blessed by her close friends with trinkets, but she did have some starting ones:
  • Seashell Charm Bracelet: A small scalloped-shaped silver charm had the engraving "L.F." upon it. The bracelet itself was also silver and meant for a toddler's wrist. The item was given to Jancis' first love and lost somewhere, possibly in the snowy mountains of Coerthas.

  • Map of the Black Shroud: Now just disassembled pieces of paper from the amount of times it's been folded and re-folded, this old map is outdated and written over, erased, and written over again. A random assortment of 'landmarks' and notes are on it to determine where Jancis was raised.

  • Coverless Book: Her favorite book, the binding is worn out and it's carefully kept in a handkerchief to keep from losing pages. It's where she chose her name from and inspired her to fight for freedom which brought her to where she is today. It's basically based off of The Renegades of Pern if she references it with dragons and nomads and discovering what life could be.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Threndual - 07-15-2015

Baatu has just one important one.

Basically I decided to make him a little odd and gave him a few family customs and this is one of them. The trinket is basically made from the first scale that ever fell off of his body, hanging around his neck by a simple chain. The idea is that no matter where he ends up in life he will always have that reminder that at some point he was a young, helpless child and that there are others like that out there that need the same sort of guidance he received when he was young.

RE: Does your character have a trinket of some sort? - Roen - 07-21-2015

Roen now wears a thin silver chain around her neck that has a pair of amethyst earrings set in elaborate filigrees of silver and gold hanging from it. It would jingling with movement but she keeps it mostly hidden under her armor and shirt.

It reminds her of her first love and her greatest regret.

She also has a few other things kept tucked away in a box and out of sight; it has two stuffed dolls, a white beret with a feather, sparring gloves, a book, water painting set, a raptorskin ring, and a strange instrument she does not know how to play.
