Is this a correctly made Roegadyn Name? - coldReactive - 05-31-2015

I looked at the naming and dictionary stuff around google and the FFXIV Forums, and I came up with "Seikkoena Waemmynawyn" but just to be sure, I wanted to know if it was a correctly named... name. (For a lady.)

The name means "Lake Queen, Daughter of Warm Love" if you're reading it correctly.

When the sections of your name end/begin with the same letter, you should drop the doubled letter. So the correct spelling of "Lake Queen, Daughter of Warm Love" would be Siekoena Waemynawyn.

The noun Koena is not actually listed among the eight feminine name endings. However I know several people (myself included) who ignore that convention entirely. Queen is definitely a female name, but probably one that is seen less often.

The last thing to point out, which seems to confuse some people, is that Roegadyn girls normally take their last name from the father not the mother. For example Klynzahr's father was Iyrnahct (Iron River) and her mother was Zedyrwyb (Ceder Woman). So Klynzahr's last name is Iyrnahctwyn.

I'm not sure if you intended for Waemyna to be the name of your roegadyn's father or mother, technically it could be either. However if it is her mother's name, you may wish to consider why she would break from tradition and slight her father like that.

My alt, Mynafryd Fraeskyltwyn (Love Peace, Free Shield Daughter), was going to be Mynabryda (Love Bride), but her last name was too long, so I went with my first choice (which is not totally typical either and why I was going to go Mynabryda instead) however you have a max of 20 characters and the traditional name was one character too long.

Even within our culture there are those exceptions to the male/female naming rules and names that were once for boys have ended up becoming predominantly for girls. So I see no issue with your name. XD

Frankly, it's a bit more interesting with it this way, following the naming conventions in spirit but putting a twist on them makes it more unique.
