Looking to try FFXIV RP - Vesper - 07-30-2015 Hi there! I am still less than a week into my FFXIV experience. It is the first numbered Final Fantasy game I have played since V (ha!) but I do enjoy it so far. I am not new to RP, and enjoy roleplaying in many different forms online and offline. I am curious what it is like in FFXIV, and have read a bit about Balmung and the transfer option. I'd love to know what kinds of things people enjoy roleplaying in their Free Companies, and what your experiences have been like! I am also interested to know if there is a good resource for information about the setting aside from simple exploration in-game. RE: Looking to try FFXIV RP - LiadansWhisper - 07-30-2015 Hello!  Welcome!  I'm not sure how to respond to some of your questions, but I can tell you that there's a lot of open world RP on Balmung.  Every Free Company is different, and so different Free Companies are going to focus on different types of RP.  Some might be more focused on adventure-type RP, while others more on town RP, merchant RP, etc.  It just really depends on where you go. I would say that the best resource for lore in the game is probably this website.  If you look in the RP Discussion section, there are a lot of threads about various bits of lore.  Additionally, doing the Main Story Quest will also provide you with heaps of lore.   Hope that helps! A Liadan said, every person and every free company is different, but you can find just about every type of role-play you'd expect here. As for learning the game's lore, aside from the discussion threads here and what you learn in game, at the top menu you can see a "Wiki" link that can take you to the RPC's wiki which contains a few thread about the game's lore. I suppose I shall have to sit down and decide what sort of character I would like to play so that I can level and do a transfer, but I look forward to it!
