RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - LystAP - 06-19-2016

1. Aigiarn has a childhood taste for vilekin of all varieties, much to the bewilderment of her friends and FC. She often tries to sample the native vilekin of Eorzea, especially given the lack of locally-approved vilekin to consume, with varying success.

2. She has a pre-disposition towards infusing her magitek constructs with animal attributes. From a Reaper that thinks it's a chocobo to bird-minded flocks of annoying Magitek Bits.

3. She's a closet pervert, shipping people and things despite maintaining her 'innocence.' However, she gets easily flustered when it's her that's the center of attention.

4. Aigiarn has a very animate tail, she uses it to help her with a variety of tasks.

5. Aigiarn loves flying and will take any opportunity to do so.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - savail - 06-22-2016

Welp, let's get the obvious quirk out of the way first.
1.  Doesn't speak (kind of a given since she's a Qestir).

2.  Hates yarzons of all varieties and sizes.  The only good yarzon is a dead yarzon.
3.  Not a fan of Lalafells; she thinks they're (mostly) all crooked, scheming, diabolical little monsters.  She's not outright rude, per se, but more indifferent.  Even if she likes one, she'll probably not trust them much.
4.  While she may seem highly keen on fashion, she doesn't actually care overly much for it, and only pays attention to fashion trends in order to blend in better with the Eorzeans.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Strwaberry - 06-27-2016

Ooh! Let's see.

Ella can't see well, and either uses glasses or magic to be able to read things.
She is very short for a Lalafell and very self conscious, often blushing or getting upset when it is brought up or she is called "little one" (Her player though finds her reactions funny, so feel free to call her that XD)
Ella is deathly afraid  of sandworms because one killed a friend when Ella was young.
Ella  dislikes being mistaken for a child and tries to wear a lot of make up to make herself look older.
Strawberry is not her real last name, but she dislikes her Lalafell name

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Taejin - 08-16-2016

Rather late, but this seems fun.
  • Taejin named his turrets (Gerra and Marduk Tulen and Veden for the Rook and Bishop, respectively) and genuinely finds it odd that others don't. 15 years of solitude'll do that to a guy. ...Yeah, he's out there.
  • He tunnel-visions HARD when when working on something. Pretty much the only real way to get his attention would be to pull his tool out of his hand, after which he'll just look at you and say "Hi".
  • Tends to spin his wrench in his left hand when deep in thought.
  • Tied to the 1[sup]st[/sup] point, he is seriously considering installing mammet cores into Gerra and Marduk Tulen and Veden... so others may join them in conversation.
  • Due to his personal aether being heavily lightning-aspected, his hair tends to flare up slightly when agitated due to the static generated.
  • On the more serious side, he has an intense phobia of dragons due to nearly being killed by the Father of Dragons himself at Silvertear. (The journey through Dravania in HW was not pleasant, to say the least)
EDIT: Some quirks changed/removed for re-work, if anyone notices or cares. I'm trying.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Xerintha - 08-16-2016

Oh fun!

Jaydhe is terrified of tall males but especially Au Ra and even more specifically Xaela (yes, she's Xaela)

She has a REALLY hard time looking anyone in the eye

She is very polite and calls everyone Sir or Miss. Names are tough.

She is extremely protective of her friends even to her detriment

The back of her neck glows purple when she access aether in any way

She obsesses over making sure her feet are clean before walking into a building

She is easily distracted by animals but horses will make her forget anything else around her

She almost never sits down when others are present

She blushes very easily for one reason or another though with her dark skin it's sometimes hard to tell

Despite her fears and anxieties, she's as preternaturally curious. About everything.

Liara Lia

- Liara is very open and willing to talk about sex, which has led to some very awkward situations. She shrugs it off like a normal conversation because she sometimes has to talk about sex with her female patients as a doctor who specializes in women's health.

- Nudity is totally okay with her, which has led to more awkward situations with her free company mates.

- She likes to braid her husband's hair, nuff said.

- Out of the Twelve, Liara seems to worship Nophica the most. Sometimes she'll say stuff like. "The matron bless us." or "May Nophica protect me." weird shit like that.

Y'zhara Zekial

- She's almost too positive of a person. Some people either like this, or find this sickening. How can someone be so damn happy all the time?

- Despite her mostly positive exterior, she does have cracks in her walls, she suffers from anxiety which has led to her having many insecurities about herself and the fear of thunder and lightning.

- Y'zhara sees her chocobo and carbuncle as really close friends and never really uses the term 'pets'. She also talks to them quite a bit.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Gegenji - 08-16-2016

Oh, jeez, I never posted in this one? THIS WILL NOT DO.

Chachanji...
... is quite bad at taking compliments! Especially said by those of the opposite gender. Even praising his skill at smithing has him oft point out that his father is still way better than him. He'll often fluster and stutter - he's not upset or anything, he just doesn't think he's all that great.

... has several tells that show his mood. If he's uncertain or wary about a person or subject matter, he'll scratch at his cheek. If he's embarrassed or apologetic, he'll rub at the back of his neck. Pure, honest confusion is usually coupled with a tilt of the head or a scratching of the floof. Contentment usually involves kicky feet and humming.

... refers to his hair as "floof," as one will pick up rather quickly in conversation with him. He takes surprisingly good care of it as well, as that nigh-uncontrollable mass of fluff would likely be an absolute nightmare should he suffer a bad hair day. The white in it is actually a dye that he started doing after an incident involving an overturned flour bag, and actually knows a few good aestheticians.

... refers to most folks as Mister and Miss, mostly as a carry-over of Doman honorifics and general politeness. He'll drop them on request, but otherwise will refer to them as such until he feels he has a suitable closeness with them. Or, on the far rarer side, feels they're not really worth that respect (an incident that has only happened once so far!)

... always has some candy or jerky on hand. You can be assured that if his outfit has pockets, one of them is dedicated to snacks. This is due to a habit of often getting wrapped up in smithing projects and missing meals! Plus, it's always nice to have a treat on hand if a friend needs it.

Gogonji...
... likes to make comparisons and allegories. The most common is his referral to most individuals he sees as beneath him (i.e. most people) as dogs. However, he has also made references to chess on a couple occasions.

... has a bit of a teacher mentality, which becomes more obvious when he's drunk. When passing along information or dealing with questions, he often displays and speaks with mannerisms one would likely find in a classroom. When sober, it's usually that one teacher you never want to get. When drunk, he becomes far more encouraging and "nice teacher"-ish.

... is very particular about his drinks, especially teas and wines, and is not afraid to voice his distaste over poorly-made beverages. And even well-made drinks can get a disdainful sniff if they are not "proper" for the setting or the food it was presented with. Such as a strong red whine served with seafood instead of a proper white.

... is - shockingly enough! - a rather emotional being despite his adherence to logic and tactics. The easiest sign to see his emotions flare are to threaten the few people he honestly cares about. However, he also readily be seen in quite honest irritation when dealing with individuals he finds exceptionally brutish or dim-witted. That said...

... is actually very bad at showing positive emotions. His laughter is usually cynically tinged, wry, or very hollow sounding and often seems like it's put there because it's "supposed" to be rather than for any actual feeling. Smiles are usually forced and a sharp eye can usually discern that strain. The smallest smiles and the softest chuckles he makes are usually the truest, and are experienced by a rare few.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Parvacake - 08-16-2016

Lili used to have a quirk of always having her neck covered either with a choker or a collared shirt. While she's gotten better about it over time, there was a point where she grimace and cringe if her hair settled on or around her neck for to long.

Lip biting, though. She's always biting her damn lip.

Sara can't flirt. Not very well. In fact, when others flirt with her it's like her brain shuts off. Even her previous beau would try and she'd just stare at him like 'Oh. That's a thing. Alright. What do I do now?' Stuttering and blushing and bumbling.

Cookies. Xelra, my little grumpqo'te, is a slut for cookies.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - AmeKusakari - 08-16-2016

Dalain is obsessed with Seashells.  She loves them and uses them to craft.  As a Xaela of the Ejinn tribe, she is capable of swimming deep and spending hours searching for the right shell.

Once she has acquired one of interest she uses it to craft. Sometimes as jewelry or decoration for armor or spears.  On rare occasions she gives the crafted item as a gift.  This is incredibly significant since Dalain is not the most friendly, nor does she make bonds with others since losing her mate.  If it does happen, she must have great trust and care for the person.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Kodie - 08-16-2016

Kodie likes to wander around when he's bored. He can't stay standing in one place for long if he's not doing anything. So obviously seeing him walking around Ul'dah is normal.

Despite Korben spending a lot of his time on a ship at sea, he can get air sick so he's not a fan of heights.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Leih - 08-16-2016

Leih:

- She has a massive sweet tooth. She sees sweets, without raisins, and they will disappear. A running gag is that she can eat a cake all on her own in record time.
- She acts very cat like. From jumping inside boxes to getting distracted by moving objects, she can be more cat that person at times.
- She rarely if ever shows she is sad. Even when she is sad or angry, she smiles and acts like nothing happens. That makes her a walking time bomb.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Chompie - 08-17-2016

Trivial and irrelevant quirks about Arblis, hmmm...

- Arblis takes her work much more seriously than she appears to. Upon becoming a full-time trouble-hunter, she started studying makeup and acting to make better first impressions. An impressive adventurer is a better-paid adventurer!
... that counts as taking it seriously, right?
- She is a huge fan of Doman-Style Art Novels. No one must ever know...
- Arblis has an extremely malleable accent. She picks up a bit of whatever's around her, but nothing ever sticks for long. This has nothing to do with my own inability to keep accents, no way >_>

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Eses Fafa - 08-20-2016

Hmm? Oh alright

-Eses is afraid of lightning.
-She doesn't do her race any form of pride, as she sometimes find herself locked in a trance with yarn.
-She is outright disgusted with the practices of the Seeker tribes, but limits her racism to a few mildly offensive "jesting" quips.
-She wrote several adult tragedy romance novels in her teens, and published them under the alias 'Black Cat'.
-She has a VERY hard skull, brought on by repeated contests with her chocobo. She started to find herself losing more and more.
-Her idea of cross dressing is a suit and a fake moustache.
-She crosses her arms when she's in a deadpan or angry emotional state.
-She sometimes questions if the actions of herself and others, including their very causes for creation are managed by a race of beings beyond this universe for the sole cause of enjoyment. This mindset is often brought on right before remembering she's hungry.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Shofie - 08-22-2016

-Shofie eats like a horse (chocobo?)
-She can't cook; so when she tries, she often sets things on fire. The only thing she CAN cook are cod puffs, because it's her favorite food.
-She loves astronomy.
-Shofie is obsessed with Carbuncles.
-She is very childlike in a lot of her mannerisms, due to poor socialization growing up.
-Shofie has some conflicting issues about her body image (she does not think she looks bad and isn't shy about people seeing her body, but people tend to react negatively to a very muscular girl, so she covers up to have to not deal with unwanted comments)
-She always wraps about a quarter of her tail near the base in a cloth or leather wrap to keep it from being touched accidentally.

RE: Talk about your character's quirks! - Ruran - 08-22-2016

RURAN...
  • Takes a little potted sprout with him wherever he travels, setting it on the windowsill of whichever random inn he's staying that night. He tends to it almost religiously, making it part of his morning and nightly ritual.
  • Prefers his mask now more than his actual face, and if given the choice, he would not take it off at all, even in the privacy of his own room. When feeling nervous or uncertain, he can often be found adjusting and testing its security.
  • Loves heights, and it's not uncommon to find him relaxing on rooftops or in trees during his downtime. He can maneuver around quite easily and has a trained sense of balance, when not weighed down by plated armor.
  • Is cautious of firearms, magitek, and explosives; he would not touch them with a ten-foot pole. He can barely handle even conversing about some of them without freezing up or lashing out in fear.
  • ...is highly proficient in firearms, magitek, and explosives. How unfortunate.

MADOC...
  • Gives nicknames to anyone he finds endearing. He thinks of it as a neat little game to come up with a single word to summarize an entire person. Most end up taking a liking to it.
  • Picks at his broken horn when feeling contemplative. He also keeps the broken pieces of said horn stashed away for some reason. Hide your shame, Madoc.
  • Wears so few shirts (even in battle) that his comrades are utterly shocked when he does. He has taken up wearing a red coat now and then, which still provides plenty of fresh air for the abs.
  • Chooses a different drink every time he goes to a tavern. No one knows which one is his favorite, and he is quite smug in not telling anyone what he prefers. He likes to make them guess.
