Fight Nights Under Bright Lights {Grindstone Tourney Logs, OOC Welcome} - Fystrael Abylstyrwyn - 10-07-2013

After a glorious bath and a good night's sleep, Fystrael is finally ready to follow her Company mistress' blunt response to her comment about how 'glorious' it would be to have others read details about the Company tournies.

"Do it, then, young one."

"'Twas better when I'd kept me bloody mouth shut," Fystrael mutters as she sets up her parchment and ink on the inn's small writing desk.  Recollecting the previous night's events through the slight haze of an entirely too intimate drinking session, the young Sea Wolf begins putting quill to paper.

A Preliminary Fight: Sindl Arahn versus Sylas Peregrine

[Image: a4e9ae7119a052706d1f4682b852b80e_7a573cb...1381167840] versus [Image: a7575734c5c16daa1ef918bd2c74ffeb_7a573cb...1381170741]

Sylas Peregrine pulls free the blunted -- and well used -- blade from his side. He turns the hilt in his hands twice, pointing the blade upwards as he closes his eyes. Upon re-opening them, he drops back into a light stance, seemingly nonplussed by the plate of his boots and gauntlets.

Sindl Arahn drops the point of the sword and steps in, turning abruptly and swinging the sword in a vicious upwards slash aimed at Sylas' left thigh, trying to strike the leg and slow him down early into the fight.

Sylas makes an attempt at taking a half step away from Sindl's assault. He stumbles, though, as a gust of particularly sandy wind catches him off guard momentarily. The sword collides with his plated thigh, clanging horribly. Sylas doesn't fall, though, but rather just grimaces and hardens his stance. He looks like he won't be taken by something like that again!

Sylas grins widely at Sindl as he regains his footing after a moment's pause. With a quick shake of his head, he steps forward to regain whatever ground he had lost. His sword flashes out in one hand, cutting a wide arc in front of him; though it proves to be a feint. The true attack is his plated fist on a collision course with Sindl's kidney.

Sindl is fooled by the feint, turning and beating the slash aside with a slap from the flat of his sword.  Unfortunately, this puts his side right in the path of Sylas' fist - the blow sends him stumbling backwards, coughing and gasping for air as he doubles over.  He straightens, teeth clenched and skin pale from the pain.

Sindl sizes up his enemy, eyeing the mailed limbs with a frown.  He grits his teeth against the pain, and grabs the hilt of his sword in both hands, using it almost like a spear to make a quick series of jabs at his opponent's chest and ribs, stepping forward with each strike to channel the movement into the force of his blow.

Sylas attempts to lift his blade in a defensive position, batting away the spear-like thrusts of Sindl's weapon. This fails, though, and he takes the brunt of the blow to the chest. He grimaces, taking a few steps back to slide with the force of Sindl's blow and to prevent anything from getting -too- damaged. He shakes his head in an attempt to clear the pain he's quite obviously feeling.

Sylas grunts quietly as he makes an attempt to step into Sindl's guard. The blade of his sword flashes as the blunted edge comes down, aiming for the Miqo'te's sword-arm.

Sindl spots the movement out of the corner of his eye, and quickly drops to one knee and catches the slash with the edge of his sword, still held two-handed.  He then stands, using the strength of his legs to shove the Hyur's blade up and away with as much force as he can muster - and with both of their swords held overhead, he surges in and tries to deliver a savage headbutt to Sylas' forehead.

Sylas allows his blade to be brought up into the air, still gripping it firmly within his hand. When Sindl attempts to step in and close the distance with a headbutt, Sylas quickly makes a half-leap backwards; evading the blow.

Sylas uses the leap backwards to dislodge his sword from Sindl's. He quickly reverses his moment, and with a snarling cry, he pulls his sword back and lunges the hilt of it toward's the Miqo'te's left bicep.

Sindl folds his ears back at the man's snarl, but manages to agilely twist out of the way of the hilt-strike, letting it sail past him.  He grips his hands around his sword, still held overhead, and drives it down suddenly in a fierce overhand slash at the top of Sylas' head.

Sylas seems to be taken off-balance by Sindl's quick movements. His blow sails past the Miqo'te and the newly-started rain causes his plated boot to slip in the mud. The motion carries him quickly enough to leave him unable to guard against Sindl's blow, and he catches it to the head in its entirety. Dazed, Sylas slumps to the ground and stays there for a moment.

Sylas blinks slowly, lifting a gauntlet to rub at the suddenly sore spot on his head. "'M alrigh'. Jus' a blow to the braincage." He gives his head a short shake, puffing out his cheeks. "I concede, though."

Sindl Arahn leans over, offering a hand up, "A good fight, then."

Sylas Peregrine takes the offered hand, using it to help him stand. "Yeah, good fight. Well done, friend." He offers up a smile, still rubbing at the spot where the blow had caught him.

Sindl Arahn bows courteously to Sylas Peregrine.

Sylas Peregrine mutters lowly, "Somethin' of a headache."

Sindl Arahn walks off the field, limping a little as the adrenaline fades and his body reminds him that someone just punched him in the kidney.

A Preliminary Fight: Cho Renma versus Zalxee'to Elakha

[Image: 29e57c7b3de8040214d99edb002efd08_7a573cb...1381334601]  versus [Image: 554883b943e9dc1281e717e999bbfcbe_7a573cb...1381334873]

Zalxee'to Elakha raises his staff, pushing Cho's foot aside, and swings his staff at Cho's face.

Cho Renma blinks, not expecting his cloaked foe to brush his attack away as easily as he did. A smile once again forms upon Cho's face, now that he knows that this fight won't be a breeze, and he arches his back while expecting a reprisal. Sure enough, he dodges Zal's counter in the process.

Cho yells, "Nice!"

Cho plants his foot onto the ground after it is brushed away, and then adjusts his stance. Reeling his fist in back, Cho performs an unconventional jab right to Zal's chest, quite unlike his usual style.

Zalxee'to jumps to the side quickly, then leaps low at Cho's feet, trying to trip him.

Cho manages to evade the incoming blow by jumping up into the air, breaking his stance in the process. Now unstable, Cho forgoes his usual defensive posture in favor of an aggressive maneuver, and attempts to kick Zal in the chest while he is jumping in the air. Rising Jump Kick!

Zalxee'to's eyes widen, and crosses his arms, as he gets kicked by Cho, and gets pushed back a bit.

Zalxee'to groans, ".....Ow...."

Cho is smiling at Zal, but it is in no way in a taunting manner. Cho seems to be genuinely enjoying himself.

Zalxee'to then bends down and pounces at Cho, about to tackle him with full force.

Cho blinks, totally not expecting a tackle in this situation, and gets *moded* by his partner. Cho manages not to get thrown to the ground, but at the moment, Zalxee'to has knocked the wind out of Cho, who is looking earnestly entertained by what just happened.

Cho responds by raising his fist into the air, and delivering a punch to Zal, aiming for the hooded boy's head!

Zalxee'to feels the blow of Cho's punch and falls to the ground, holding his head. Then he gets back up holding his staff tighter than before.

Zalxee'to looks at down to the ground, before running up to Cho, with both hands on his staff.

Cho readies his stance, waiting for Zalxee'to's next attack. Cho's breathing has returned to normal, and his feet are moving with their usual rhythm as well.

Zalxee'to jumps in the air, swinging his staff down and aiming for Cho's head.

Cho attempts something new, and raises his hands above his head, dropping the rocks in the process. He attempts to catch the staff while it is still in the air above his head, but misses - the blunt trauma-provider smashes with Cho's skull, which causes a small spurt as his skin breaks.

Cho cries, "Ah! Crap! Not working, not working!"

Cho says, "Alright! Let's try to get serious for a second!"

Cho plants a single foot into the ground, and uses it as a spring to vault himself towards the sky. Reaching several feet above the ground, Cho solidifies his arms, and throws a punch while he descends, striking the ground with a powerful Inner-Force fist.

Cho looks to his opponent as his Inner Force explodes outwards, sending a wave of dust and air strong enough to knock down a grown Roegadyn from the strike zone!

Zalxee'to is shocked by the impact that knocks him down, and dropping his staff, he lays there motionless.

Zalxee'to moans lowly, "....ow...."

Cho drops his stance, looking pleased - both with himself, and his foe. He runs his hands through his hair, revealing that Zal's strike has caused a little bit of bleeding as his hand is now dusted with red.

Cho grins and speaks, "Sweet. Nice fight! Sucks that I couldn't do the Hidden Blade Catcher."

Cho Renma bows courteously to Zalxee'to Elakha.

Zalxee'to gets up, shaking his head, and dusting off his robe. "...Guess I'll find other means for food.."

Cho says, "You should check out the Adventurer's Guild here. Good for odd jobs if you're hungry!"

Cho waves to Zalxee'to.

Cho yells, "See ya, then! Nice fight!"

Cho pats his head. It would appear that the bleeding has, at least for now, subsided.

Cho mutters, "I think I'm okay... maybe?"

A Semi-final Fight: Cho Renma versus Sindl Arahn

[Image: 29e57c7b3de8040214d99edb002efd08_7a573cb...1381334601]  versus [Image: a4e9ae7119a052706d1f4682b852b80e_7a573cb...1381333711]

Cho Renma pounces as if he was waiting for this moment. With the pleasentries out of the way, Cho dashes forward and stops inches in front of his opponent's striking zone. In a flash, the golden-haired Mi'qote closes the gap and leaps several feet into the air, delivering a running roundhouse kick towards Sindl!

Cho is aiming for the side that Sindl was clutching after his last fight!

Sindl Arahn jolts back at the other Miqo'te's sudden ferocity, but retains the presence of mind to swing his sword in between himself and the kick - the force of the blow slaps the blade back against him, but it's a tap compared to what the kick would have been.  He half-turns, moving the injured side away, while his sword lashes out in a quick arc, aiming a flat-bladed slap at his opponent's ribs.

Cho is still feeling the hurt from when Dogberry broke one of his ribs a few nights ago, and is not able to put up a strong enough guard in time. Cho raises an open-palm hand to absorb most of the bare-blade strike, but even the amount that gets through causes Cho's eyes to twitch involuntarily as the pain forces him to wince.

Cho grunts loudly as he forces himself to push past the pain, but he is still smiling, as usual. Cho plants a foot forward, and gathers more of his Inner Force once again. Pushing up palm upwards, still pressed against Sindl's blade, Cho attempts to use his center of balance to toss Sindl flat on his back!

Sindl braces, Cho shoving at the blade.  He quickly plants his hand on the other side, pushing right back.  The two are deadlocked for a moment, the wood sword creaking between them as they try to overpower each other to no avail.  Sindl scowls, and relents for just a second, letting himself get shoved backwards slightly - only to lift his knee into a quick strike at Cho's midsection.

Cho stands still for a moment, just breathing. As he does so, it would appear that several of Cho's muscles actually shift and move, while his breathing slowly intensifies. "Inner-Force..."

Cho plants a foot forward, and reaches one of his fists back behind his head.

Cho takes a giant leap forward, delivering a strike to Sindl using the same fist that he was winding up. He aims directly for Sindl's left flank, the side most likely to receive a guard from the blade!

Sindl guards with the blade, as expected, but the punch comes with unexpected force - it drives the blade back towards him, and Sindl raises his left forearm to brace it.  Cho's punch is stopped dead - but something else continues into the blade.  There's a loud crack and an explosion of splinters, leaving Sindl holding a foot-long stump while several shards of wood go flying into the dirt around him.

Sindl snarls, and throws the useless wooden lump into the dirt, sending it bouncing into the grass.  He quickly makes fists, and launches a brutal uppercut at Cho's chin as he steps into the other Miqo'te's guard, the two of them reduced to unarmed brawling.

Cho was not expecting the sudden uppercut, and with his unbalanced stance, Sindl's blow lands square on Cho's jaw. The Miqo'te has his spit punched out as he takes two staggering steps back - still grinning the entire time - realizing what Sindl wants.

Cho responds in kind by planting his foot down to stop his staggering, and makes an attempt to jab Sindl in his temple!

Sindl slams his forearm against Cho's, blocking the incoming jab; he steps into the brief lock, shoving back against the other Miqo'te's arm.  His other hand reaches up to grab at the straps on Cho's shoulder, and with a grunt of effort he tries to push him off balance and simply hurl him to the ground through main strength, twisting to the left as he does.

Cho manages to resist Sindl's attempt to throw him off balance, and slips out of the Mi'qote's range. Cho starts to bob and weave around, placing his arms in front of his face. Using this as a distraction....

Cho delivers a quick kick to Sindl's knees, attempting to knock his partner to the ground!

Sindl drops slightly, and takes the kick to his braced thigh instead of his knee - he grunts at the impact, but it doesn't seem to slow him down: he winds back a fist, and answers with a right hook aimed right at Cho's head.

Cho ducks beneath the strike, Sindl's hand passing over Cho's head. However, in the process, Sindl inadvertently scrapes his closed-fist against the wound that Zalxee'to gave Cho in his previous fight. There is a small spurt of red.

Cho blinks as he feels something wet roll down his face. Pressing a hand to his brow, he looks at his palm and notices that he is starting to bleed profusely.

Cho drops his stance, and staggers as he falls backwards.

Cho grunts, "Whoa... sorry, buddy, but that last strike got me pretty dizzy. And bleedin'. I think I'm going to have to call it here."

Sindl steps back, wary, raising both fists as he watches Cho fall, wondering if it's another complex maneuver.

Cho is still smirking at Sindl, but he is clearly bleeding way too much for it to be a normal head wound.

Sindl blinks, and steps forward to offer Cho a hand up.  "Uh - thank you.  Although," he grins, his tone turning joking, "you owe me a new sword."

Cho struggles to get to his feet.

Cho Renma bows courteously to Sindl Arahn.

Sindl Arahn bows courteously to Cho Renma.

The Grindstone Tourney: No-holds barred.
A Preliminary Fight: Tausenadel Geispyrsyn versus U'roh Tia

[Image: 27b4ae2131a68c7f57819bd72d9e5212_7a573cb...1383500276] versus [Image: 1acc99c593ebc9475ef1fb20babd0397_7a573cb...1383501361]

Tausenadel Geispyrsyn draws his axe, laughing. "Aye? Well, yer goin' to find yerself drownin' in the sea, adrift in pain an' mis'ry! Prepare yerself!"

Tausenadel's rant is stupid but his sudden charge is not. With a roar, he's surging forward, swinging a wide horizontal arc at U'roh's middle.

U'roh Tia was caught off guard by the sudden charge of the boastful Warrior, that horizontal arc finding its mark across his chest!

"Heh, so the tales of your strength are true!" he cried, his voice having the slightest hint of joy behind that helm.

Bringing his lance to bear after sliding a few inches back from the hit, he sought to counter with his own attack, a simple piercing stab to the right shoulder!

Tausenadel laughs a self-congratulating laugh, a deep "HAHA!". However, the expression of jubilation is quickly replaced with shock as the spear slides right through his haphazard guard. The point sinks deep into the meat of his arm before Tau can leap back out of range.

"Blasted hells, ye sharpen that on Titan's own arse?"

Tausenadel doesn't wait for a response, bringing the axe up high swinging it down with all his strength. A wood cutter's chop, right at his center of mass.

U'roh withdrew the spear and gave a twirl of the weapon over his right shoulder, re-assuming his practiced stance just like the guild taught him.

"I reckon it could pierce even that," he commented as he kept his momentum going and brought the bladed edge of the spear across Tausenadel's chest much like the blow he had taken moments before.

Tausenadel barely brings the haft of his axe up to spark against the edged end of the lance. With a grunt of effort, he swings once at U'roh, missing by a mile but he keeps the rotation. A wide spin, a whirlwind strike with the wicked edge of the axe aiming low for his legs.

U'roh twists his body once his lance impacts with the broad side of his opponent's axe, using that momentum to do a short hop over the now incoming axe. While mid-air he brought his weapon arm to bear, seeking to pierce the other shoulder just as his feet touch the ground.

"Such strength. Glad to see I am not disappointed for my first match." he speaks again, doing momentum-keeping twirls of his lance and re-assuming his bent-over, lance-out posture.

Tausenadel ends the spin as fast as he can, his eyes locked to the jumping miqo'te.  He curses a string of words that would peel paint off a hull, seeing his own opening just as U'roh exploits it. The spear makes its mark even as Tausenadel begins another chop, a great two handed slice hoping to catch his extended arm.

U'roh widens his eyes at that string of cursing, though one would be hard-pressed to see under his armor. Bringing himself forward for a sudden lunge after his second attack, he seeks to end it here; a simple, straight blow for the right knee with a battle-cry leaving the Miqo'te's lips!

Tausenadel roars back at U'roh, matching his challenge only to be completely fooled by the angle of the attack. His leg is skewered, the point jutting out the back of his thigh.

Tausenadel starts to step forward for a swing and finds he can't move his leg. Looking down, his face falls. "Bloody son o' a milksop...urk..." The axe bites into the dirt; Tausenadel staggers and falls to the side. The match is done.

The Grindstone Tourney: No-holds barred.
A Preliminary Fight: Y'el Vhez versus Siobhain Surtsthalwyn

[Image: b337856e4d701975c13243cb7d75c991_7a573cb...1383502022] versus [Image: e162b2b9c734e8527368ee2fe4495cec_7a573cb...1383499953]

Y'el Vhez nods to Siobhain Surtsthalwyn.

Siobhain Surtsthalwyn sniffs in feigned indignance, reaching with her left hand to unfasten the buckler at her back. Once this is fitted to her arm, she grasps the hilt of her gladius, sliding this free with a hiss of metal on metal. Her stance is broad, weight on her hind leg.

"As you say."

Y'el takes a deep breath, exhales. Her stances shifts, but her hands remain open.

Y'el takes another deep breath, exhales, and leaps at Siobhain like a wild animal.

Y'el attempts to rake her fingers across Siobhain's face. Up close, it's apparent the light appears to have gone out of her eyes, leaving them black as a shark's.

Siobhain exhales heavily, noting the change in her opponent. Her expression remains utterly stoic as she draws back-- perhaps a hair beyond the Miqo'te's reach.

Rather than stepping to one side or retreating, she swings forward with her shield arm in an arc aimed for the woman's abdomen.

Y'el is less than focused on defending herself, given... whatever state she just entered. She staggers back as the blade rakes cleanly across her abdomen, opening a gash. She looks down, somewhat bemused, and pokes the wound, then reaches up and touches it to her tongue. After that moment, her empty eyes turn back on Siobhain. No retort, no congratulations, just a hollow stare.

Y'el licks her lips and leaps at Siobhain again with an ear-splitting, animal shriek, the intent to throw the full force of her weight... as much as there is for a miqo'te... at the woman's chest.

Siobhain narrows her eyes at the feral nature of the smaller female. Again, she waits, and again she moves with the least amount of effort-- shifting her weight onto her forefoot to support a swift pivot. Again, she dodges the smaller female's momentum entirely, this time lashing out with the flat of her gladius towards the wound she laid before.

Y'el is knocked back, losing her footing entirely and falling to the ground. It's hard to tell if the crunching sound accompanying is the rocks she hit or bones breaking, but the gash most definitely opens wider, spilling blood down her pristine white skirt.

Y'el slowly gets up to her feet, the wound looks nasty; she moves stiffly, and yet she laughs a little.

Y'el staggers.

Y'el stands there bleeding silently, a sick grin on her face.

Siobhain waits, as politely as one can given the circumstances, until the girl is back on her feet. Only then does she lash out again, thrusting forward with the gladius. At the last moment she diverts the tip, sweeping towards the Miqo'te's thigh and her femoral artery.

Y'el Vhez is hit again, and this time the blood that gushes forth is either impressive or horrifying depending on one's point of view; but maybe it's worse than it looks. She doesn't cry out in pain. She just takes it and bleeds and laughs harder than ever.

Siobhain retracts her blade arm, holding fast in her position. She glowers at the smaller woman, not lowering her guard as the Miqo'te has yet to concede despite her new, potentially hazardous wound.

Y'el seems insensible to the pain, and the bleeding, and the fact that she should yield. Words are beyond her.  Instead, a low growl starts in her throat and then she leaps again, shrieking loud enough to draw attention from the city.

Siobhain snarls as she realizes the woman has no intention of stopping. The gladius is flung away as she drops to her knee, reaching out with both hands despite how the buckler twists her wrist. She catches the other female by throat and abdomen, aiding her momentum upwards and over.

Y'el Vhez howls in animal fury as she's throw up into the air. She lands neatly, so to speak, on Tausenadel. Her injuries are dire. She bleeds all over him, yet she is still hissing and clawing like a rabid animal.

Due to blood loss, she's as feeble as a kitten about it.

Tausenadel Geispyrsyn hisses at the touch, beating a fist into the dirt at the initial contact. "Nnngh!" And now he's knocked back flat onto the dirt, a kicking, screaming Miqo'te clawing at him.

"WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HELLS!?" Tausenadel bellows as pain radiates through his leg again.

Siobhain exhales heavily, giving a brisk shake of her head. She reaches for her gladius again, using it to gesture towards the Miqo'te before sheathing the blade.

Siobhain Surtsthalwyn points at Y'el Vhez.

Siobhain growls, "Get to her before she dies."

Y'el Vhez manages to get a few weak scratches in, not even drawing blood, before she passes out. She, meanwhile, is still bleeding profusely.

Waaaaah! This is awesome, thanks Fyst! Even though my horrid loss is now public for all to see...
