Is there a pirate based LS/FC? (Balmung) - Dren - 10-23-2013

I was wondering if there was a pirate/outlaw based LS on Balmung. I know that Gilgamesh has one called Pirates of a Wayward Star, but I haven't found anything similar to that on Balmung.

It's difficult to find the right RP setting/group when most FCs are mainly enthusiastic adventurers and explorers with an inclination to do good.

Unseen Harbor is a Fem Roe who teeters the line and barrows traits from both lawful neutral and lawful evil side of things. She can be seen from the naked eye as a villain who methodically takes what she wants, but within the limit of her own code of conduct. Staying true to lawful evil side of things, she cares about tradition, loyalty, and order, but not freedom, dignity, or life unless it's her own. She is comfortable in a hierarchy and would like to rule men/women once more, but she is willing to serve if need be.

Greeting Unseen,

While I don't know of any Pirate theme off handed, I can offer some suggestions as to the morally ambiguous, partly because thats where I fall as well.

Might interest you depending on how you want to play your characters past. Though I don't know them much I have had the opportunity of skulking around when A few have gone about their business and it was interesting without being contrived.

There Linkshell posting information does them more justice than I ever could. This might play well into a stricter military desire.

Speaks for itself, they make interesting appearances, not everyones style, but I enjoy the diversity they bring to the table, and willingness to speak their mind without much formality. Though of course members do not always reflect their Organization, so I could very well be speaking out my arse.

Perhaps that will help set you on your way. I make of effort of treading the middle ground between groups so I don't always know the intricacies of their inner workings, or the content of character for the bulk of their members.

Best of luck in your search and please let me know if you have any questions.

May I introduce Wildsky: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2952

We might not fit the role exactly, but on the other hand...we might. Explanation!

The basic premise is that we're tied to the Maelstrom (largely through Renaise) and take on work that they're either unwilling or unable to perform themselves. This can very easily fall into the "less than legal" side of things, which tends to be where Ty and his crew fall in. Ty himself is a more Robin Hood type of character, but there's certainly openings for someone who is more in it for the money, as it were.

The basic premise of the shell is for people to find work. And honestly, it sounds like your character would bring in some quite interesting conflicts within some of the group's members which I for one enjoy and encourage!

Hit me up in game or via PM if you'd like to talk about it or have any questions. We're really lax on member requirements, so we certainly don't have any issues with you just trying it out should you wish.

I've been kicking around the idea of starting a piratical LS, but wanted to come around to it ICly first. It seems there is a noticable lack of pure scallywaggery, however, which I think needs to be plugged.

I do have a linkshell made already for it, called Syldra's Revenge. It is an homage to the dragon from Final Fantasy V that saved Faris and then pulled her pirate ship so that they could still sail when the wind died.

So I take it this is my mandate, then. I've seen enough threads about it that maybe now it's time to just go ahead and do it. I'll do the write ups. If you want a pearl, I'm Dogberry Himalspyr in game.
