The Bronze Lake Resort - Maril - 12-08-2013

Hello everyone!

The Bronze Lake Resort is a EU based hub-offer, where our goal is to provide a nice framework for roleplay to unfold and a place where people can go to find random roleplay. We're located in Camp Bronze Lake, and are a resort offering a variety of things, from food and drink to massages and a nice soak in the warm water. The resort is co-owned by Vyncent Fields and the resident NPC, and will be open when the staff is around to keep it open. The staff in itself consists of several people from multiple FC's.
We can also be of assistance should your FC or Linkshell want to host an event, just let us know icly or here in the thread Smile

Watch this thread for notices of the tavern being open (Most likely to happen between 8pm-12am GMT). We also have our menu below, and pictures from happenstances around the resort.

Cheers!

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Rinh Hallani - 12-09-2013

I had a great time last night, thanks for organising it! Haven't seen so many RPers in one place in awhile. It was lovely, even if I sometimes struggled to keep up with the wall of text haha. The staff were really friendly and prompt too. ^^

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Maril - 12-11-2013

We're open for tonight! Come along and have a drink Big Grin

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Naunet - 12-15-2013

The thing that confuses me about this is...

How are you handling the lore that states Camp Bronze Lake is a sauna destination strictly for recovering soldiers? Are you just ignoring it and pretending your resort is actually located elsewhere (i.e. not actually at THE Camp Bronze Lake)?

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Maril - 12-15-2013

I have never encountered anything describing it as such, abeit I may have missed something in a quest text somewhere. I think, in order to be running a player driven hub anywhere in the open world, it is necessary to loosen yourself from the lore without directly breaking it, otherwise doing any such thing would be near impossible since every open world location already has owners (though I should note we have not claimed ownership on the place), has a purpose etc. I like the idea of there being a player driven run (or more, more is better) around on a server because it puts some additional depth on what else might be a somewhat plain and routine-imprinted visit to any tavern anywhere.
Would you mind finding a quote or telling me where I can find the lore for this? If we can work with it, we will, otherwise we may just be a tavern within close vicinity, though I would rather not use the latter since it complicates what would ideally just be a nice and easy spot to find rp.

Also, some of our customers thus far would actually fit well within the bracket of a recovering soldier.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Naunet - 12-15-2013

I've already completed the quests twice and don't have a third character yet at level to go through them again, so I can't provide screenshots. However, the lore comes from the quests in Bronze Lake. There are a number of them that involve you bringing liquid relief to recovering soldiers, and the NPC talks to you about how they created the place as a destination of relaxation for those stricken by war. There's even a quest where the NPC expresses great frustration at another NPC for faking a war injury (or at least, faking its severity) to gain access to Camp Bronze Lake. He treats it like some vacation spa, and the woman who gives you the quest is not very happy about it.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - LandStander - 12-15-2013

This actually sounds like a nice mix up from the day to day of getting chased by soldiers, bandits, and crazy lunatics!

Edit: If anything, aren't the Free Companies kind of like an extended arm of the military? I am sure it still works out either way.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Naunet - 12-15-2013

Maybe if your character is part of the military. :/ For those of us playing civilian characters, it makes it really hard to justify being present at places like Camp Bronze Lake.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Rinh Hallani - 12-15-2013

Whilst your adherence to the lore is commendable, I thought this was a great initiative and would be rather sad to see it disappear.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Salvi - 12-15-2013

I find its a great place to go and appreciate Sastra & Co. working to make it a friendly atmosphere for all RP'ers. Thumbsup
If things have to deviate ever so slightly on the lore front for that its worth it in my personal opinion.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Darkfae - 12-16-2013

Here's an idea...

...maybe they're there to help these soldiers start integrating with society again?

A lot of soldiers in RL suffer from varying forms of PTSD and other mental health issues, a lot of which go undiagnosed, and in some cases, untreated because they're stubborn mules.

Maybe a bit of a turn from the original idea and a bit of a turn from the lore could be done, where the group setting this up brings in outsiders to socialise with the vets, and the outsiders get to have a relaxing day at the facilities? While the outsiders know this is what's going on, they're asked to act as normal as possible?

Another option would be to move it away from the sanctuary itself, possibly to one of the other areas of the zone that's not got a lot of mobs?

As for the quests, you can look at the completed ones and it will give a general synopsis for each one. If the servers weren't down, I'd jump in and attempt to take a screenshot of those, because I recall the same info that Naunet's brought up about the area...kinda was creeped out about rubbing the one guy down with oil though, not gonna lie. >.>

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Roen - 12-16-2013

I think Darkfae's idea is a great one!  I for one would love to visit the Bronze Lake and appreciate that a FC is trying to make it an IC event.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Sakarr - 12-16-2013

As the one who initiated this project, allow me to elaborate on it, I play as Vyncent Fields on the server.

The lore part, I had not noticed, but it's easy to adjust as Darkfae pointed out, the function is still rehabilitating these poor soldiers, Vyncent being a former soldier himself could very well assist in such a thing as he has conquered the side effects he had, minor ones.

It is open for civillians, as long as they behave regularly, they have to behave normally to be in there, and fighting is strictly prohibited, since there are people with PTSD there, people who fight will naturally be escorted off the premises and recieve a ban of x number of days, so we're sticking to the lore, but expanding the function of the place.

I hope this answered the lore wise question, thank you for the inspiration Darkfae, I appreciate it.

/ Vyncent Fields.

- And it's not a Free Company doing this, it's merely a Linkshell, just so people know that we're open for anyone who would eventually want to try getting in on it.

RE: The Bronze Lake Resort - Darkfae - 12-17-2013

Welcome. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the lore conflict. The process of cognative behavioural therapy is to start integrating first with others who share mutual conditions (PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and bi-polar can share CBT groups, for example) like the lore based Bronze Lake is set up, before moving on to a controlled mixed group (if possible, not all clinics have the option for this) as suggested, and eventually moving on to completely public areas, which would basically be returning home to their city states.

Not that it's possible to do it that way exactly any more most of the time, but from what I've read in the books I've gotten my hands on, that's what the original process was meant to be. The clinic I go to can't afford the middle stage, at least, but the people who came up with these kind of treatments in real life wanted them to work that way and in some extreme cases, they still have to be done that way but that's more on an individual basis, I believe.
