The lore team, so rare on the XIV forums these days, has posted an explanation of sorts for the curious items retainers seem to find. To wit:
Quote:When assigned to a quick exploration, retainers can bring back anything from furnishings to gear. The original explanation for this was a storage facility created by the Adventurers' Guild, which held goods deemed no longer of use. Left to their own devices, retainers would rummage through this warehouse during quick exploration ventures to surprise clients with their alleged findings.
In the end, however, we decided the explanation is better left to the imagination of our players.
We only hope that your retainers don't make a habit of breaking the law.
Those tricksy, sneaksy retainers...

I can't wait for the ability to be able to change their looks.. given I kinda tossed mine together without a real purpose to them. Though with the random items they bring back im a bit more amused by them >w<still kinda worried that they keep bringing back GC items from a GC i'm not part of. Waiting for the Flames to notice they are missing some inventory.

I'm still wondering when we'll hear about the rampant crime wave that's started since Ventures started, with Free Companies suddenly missing roofs from their houses and adventurers finding their hard-won moogle weapons missing...
