Honestly, I like the potential of #3, but take that with this salt shaker -hands one over- that I've never cared what people think of my characters being broken, Sue-ish, or whatever, and that I treat lore as a guideline rather than hard and fast can's and cannot's. Tell a story and play a character that's fun and entertaining, be damned what others think. And if necessary, only open the really crazy outlandish stuff to people you trust. Take Ghost for example. He fell through a space-time wedgie from another FF game entirely and has the kind of guns that Garlemald would piss their pants over, but if, for example, Franz ever came up and sat at his table in the Drowning Wench, Franz would not walk away from the conversation knowing any of that. Franz would walk away knowing that that guy has a funny accent, hits on anything with tits, and proclaims himself to be a Maelstrom ambassador.
Also, a very real problem with #2 is that if you teleport to a place you're unfamiliar with, you run the very real risk of telefragging yourself.
