On the original idea, yeah, L'yhta would definitely courier messages as a sort of side job. It fits in well with her desires to meet new people and travel the world -- and what better way to do both by carrying messages and the like? For a person who identifies as a mage, for another miqo'te, or for someone legitimately in need, she'd even do it just out of the goodness of her heart. For someone else, well, she'd probably expect a favor in return in the future.
@C'io: The part bounty hunter, part courier thing is awesome. I can see one walking up through clouds of blowing sand, deep in the sunscorched deserts of Thanalan. The grizzled veteran drops her axe to her side as the man she's finally found cowers in the dunes. "N-no... I didn't mean to do it, I-I swear!"
She reaches into her bag and pulls out... a small parcel, a scrap of vellum, and a piece of charcoal, all of which she hands over. "Parcel for you," she notes, blasé.
The man blinks a few times, then wipes a tear from his eye. "Y-you mean, you're not here to--"
"--Make your mark here. I've got other places to be," she interjects, jabbing a gauntlet-clad finger at the dotted line on the receipt.
"A--al, r-right..." the man sputters, scrawling a wobbly signature. The courier snatches the receipt and the charcoal back and turns to walk away, pausing for just a moment to add, "You best be moving on, 'fore I have to find you again and send you to meet Nald'thal for that other darkness you've done."
