As soon as K'nahli took her younger sister's hand again, a friendly voice could be heard from above a nearby rock, same spot the previous sound had come from.
Â
K'mih raised her head, and this time she was able to clearly discern the figure of a Miqo'te. His words alone had been a relief, as for a moment the girl had feared that any sort of enemy had taken them off guard. Granted, she never left home without her axe, but fighting in the dark of the night would have given her a clear disadvantage.
Â
"Phew...!" She sighed in relief with another apologetic smile, raising a hand to her chest. In her mind, that he hadn't attacked them right away could only mean that he was one to be trusted.  "I'm sorry too, I mistook you for an enemy!"
Â
It was right after the last word had slipped past her lips that a new voice startled her again. K'mih's immediate reaction this time? To hide quickly behind her sister. It was a bad habit she needed to correct, for she'd sworn to herself that, someday, she'd be the one protecting K'nahli. It just never happened.
