I want this game to be epic, awesome and first class. I bought a brand-spanking new computer just to play this game. My wife and I went all out pulled no stops. I have heard a lot of negative reviews so far, and I've also been doing a lot of reading on the game and such. My biggest fear is that this will just be a more upscailed version of FFXI...and that would make me sad.
I'm also frustrated with the Beta, but this is after all the first Beta I've ever even tried to get into. Maybe its normal to have to wait DAYS to get a key, and then DAYS YET to download the file from a rediciliously non functional downloader. Who knows? Maybe this is how "beta's" work? Probally not.
Anyhow. I will keep my fingers crossed...at LEAST until I can play it myself. As it stands I am silently waiting for the game to finish updating. That whomping 4 fucken gig file is a killer even on Utorrent....
You think this is bad, you should have been around for Closed Beta.
Now there was a mess upon mess of good old fun, like the combat bug where you /had/ to either die or logout to get it corrected!
Oh, then there FPS hold up, which was killing most of our computers (was killing mine cause he couldn't run full steam).
Sudden crashes, like, you log in and crash, try again, crash, oh look another crash..
MMORPGs are NEVER perfect when they first start out. They never will be. They are far more "Massive" then the normal solo game. Now, if a solo game was like this, I be livid, but they are not, you wanna know why?
Because there isn't as many people, there isn't servers, and they can just focus on "You". Where here on a MMORPG they have to focus on everyone, which means people are gonna find the black holes, and they are gonna find the glitches. That is why they have doods not only in home office testing stuff, but they are also monitoring our activities, cause they are trying to find the problems.
If you want a "Nice" version of this game, wait about six months to eight. Then maybe come back again. I'm sorry if I sound sorta ill tempered, but for crying out loud, people need to learn some patience!

It is. >.>
Somewhere, some place back in Closed Beta, they brought it up.. once. I believe it was in closed beta, or in an interview. They are aware of the Gil sellers, and all that, so they were looking for awhile they couldn't do it.
I recognize the system due to the same system Istaria uses. Istaria is a fully community crafted game. You have to sell your items in the consigner (their auction house) in order to make good money, but you also have to craft it, and to craft it, you gotta have the tools, and each tool has a level meet, and each item, you also gotta have the formula.
You have to go kill monsters for the formula (or pay a hefty NPC price), which means for gold sellers, this an utter pain, oh yeah-- and you also gotta pay so much in order to place it up for sell.. or you sell it to the pawn broker, who could rip you off.
So yes, it most likely is to keep Gil sellers and Bots away.
However, there is an Auction house in LL, you can see the sign, you just can't go in.
