Shamad walked into the Bismark and headed straight for the bar. He immediately ordered a whiskey and downed it. Nanapariri ordered a round of drinks for the bar. He saluted her with his mug and drained it. He looked around the room as he played with his new ring. He noticed the cover of Siben’s book had something strange on it. He was a little buzzed by now but far from drunk. He needed to look at that book. He acted drunk, weaving his way across the room and slurring asked to see the book. Siben gave it to him with a look of pain on his face. Shamad stared drunkenly at the cover. There was a giant red sword across it corner to corner. He hadn’t seen that before. Carefully he pulled off his ring. The sword disappeared. He slipped the ring back on. It reappeared. He thought there might be more to it. He opened the cover. There was red writing on the inside. He stared at it and memorized it. It said:
So it begins. Since you are reading this, it is apparent you have found a Ring of Seeing. Do not lose it. You will never get another chance at this marvelous journey. Look through this tome. You will see 5 paintings. Find them and follow the directions you get. We wish you luck. You will need it.
Across the bottom was a giant CB. He flipped through the book. The paged with the paintings were bordered by red swords. He was starting to think whoever was responsible had a rather unhealthy obsession with red swords. He memorized the titles of the paintings. The Ladies, The Battle for Right, Calm Before the Storm, Time Never Ends and The Hand and The Lily. They all looked like beautiful paintings. He needed a reason to leave for a minute. He thought of the grossest thing he knew, aldgoat cheese. He turned green and ran out wildly. He turned the corner outside and puked. After he finished, he took out the ring, necklaces, and other valuables. He placed them in the hole he made by lifting the cobblestone he just puked on and digging a little. He was still going to get absolutely blasted and he knew some of the patrons would have sticky fingers. He cast a spell on the cobblestone to make it absolutely unnoticeable after he checked all around for any witnesses. There were none. He went back inside and ordered another whiskey. And another. By the time he finished his second one, he was out like a candle.
Meanwhile the Hyur and the Miqo'te had been waiting at the Drowning Wench for quite long enough. They grabbed the other member of their group and started walking to the Bismark. They were just in time.
