"Well, Chachanji, my little smith, if I were to cut up boards I'd find it more useful to use against the armor an enemy wears rather than kitchen equipment."
She sets down the gil pieces--a total of 250 gil in worth--on a nearby counter for him or Zhara to pick up later. With her right hand, she would reach over for the knife and raise it up closer to her eye. Inspecting it from the top down, she'd examine the angle of the curve, how it fits within her hand, the thickness of the blade, as well as the overall length and weight of the item.
"Hrm... let's see here. If you're worried about precautions I already have solutions for that, then. Granted, they require more trips."
She smiles softly at the blade, happy it's within her grasp, and puts it back into its sheath and sets it down on the counter again. Afterwards, she glances up towards Chachanji.
"The first one is the use of steel mesh gloves. Think something similar to a Haurbergeon you've seen the... oh, who are they? Brass Blades? What they wear, except just for your hands."
While speaking she demonstrates with her hands how exactly it would fit; it's a relatively loose fit that forms around each finger and thumb. The length of the glove goes up only an inch past the wrist. "No need for a long glove; near a heat-sensitive environment where you'll need to take them on and off quickly."
She takes out a sheet of paper from the bag over her shoulder and pulls out a small writing utensil afterwards, sketching out what appears to be a cutting board. There's three views quickly sketched by her right hand: an orthographical projection, a front view, and a top view. Once the views are done, she sets about adding a few dimensions to the top view; length, wide, and radius of the rounded edges, and a dimension to the front view: depth. She writes across the top of the paper a list of materials similar to what one would find in Tempered Glass.
"Now, this is a theory, but the same glass used in those new aquariums these crafters started producing could be used in a cutting board. If it can withstand the water pressure of how much is inside of it, then I know its tough. The carbon fiber inside of it is a reinforcing agent too."
She finishes up writing down these notes and slides the paper over to Chachanji, speaking in the Doman language. "[I promise I am careful.]" She finished with a smile on her face.
