Basic Info

A young Miqo'te with a dire need of acceptance. His current journey is to find a home, a place where he feels the need to protect; he desires to have a purpose.

History

Dhesi'a is a Keeper of the Moon Miqo'te and lived in a society of women who rule the workfront. Men in the tribe were really rare, and on top of that, they were usually the ones who stay home and take care of the children, gather, and do carpentry while the women of the tribe go and hunt and protect the tribe. Having a scarce amount of men in the tribe meant that they would have to have multiple mates in hopes of making more boys to further the tribe's people and culture.

As soon as he was old enough to reproduce, he was given partners to do his duties to further his people and turned out not being able to produce at all. It was shameful, as he felt that he was worthless in not only being unable to further his tribe, but his own bloodline of his mother and so on.

Of course, he was able to gather and work within a household, as he was taught by his own father; however, being the only son amongst five of daughters, it felt like it would be a shame to take care of someone else's child, it felt like a shame to be only helpful to blood that was not quite his own. Perhaps it was a bruising on his pride, a warped thought that it would be a curse to nurse boastful young men who bragged how strong her daughter was becoming or how well his son could particularly cook. He felt outcasted, despite the silence of his own community around him.

Upon the Calamity, many of his people were a part of the Garlean War and, ultimately, were subject to the timewarp. Those who survived were separated, and others were killed. Dhesi'a was a part of those who were separated and he was left alone, unsure of what to do with himself.

So he wandered around, hopping from village to village in hopes of finding a proper home. He had not come across any person from his tribe, but since he was released from such a society, he took upon the mentality of his people's women. In his mind, to be a woman is to be strong and protective, to be caring, but fierce.

After years of training himself under the work of what his tribe's women did (archery, hunting, etc.), he came across a carriage to Gridania, a place that seemed more welcoming to him (compared to other places) as a so-called 'adventurer'. He figured that perhaps if he refined his skills and continued on this path, that perhaps he would somehow become more useful somewhere or some place.

He did not seek power or glory or monetary gain. His motive to adventuring is finding a place to belong.

Personality

Aloof, careful, Dhesi'a tends be a bit uneasy around others. He doesn't mind company, but originally he is silent, finding that being seen and not heard is his duty as an outsider. He's desperate to fit in, but the more he travels the world, the more culture shock he feels, as the social normalities within each place he visits seems so much different than what he was brought up on. He feels confused about himself, and never really knows what exactly he wants when it comes to life.

Despite this, if one were to get past his constant self-conflicts, he can be very nice and infinitely loyal. He's soft spoken, but very determined in proving himself.
