Character

"Not all shields glimmer with hope nor all saviors clad in shining armor."

General

Tasa is a weathered, experienced warrior who has spent a lifetime perfecting her mind, body, and fighting prowess. A fierce and indomitable spirit that seeks ever loftier heights for herself for reasons known only to her.

Name

Given name: Arianne Leclerc.

Acquired names: Tasa, the name her adoptive father gave her, considers this her real name. "Rhyzul," the last name of a hyur she had taken as part of a promise to the man.

Appearance

Tall, elegant, and strangely beautiful were terms used to describe Elezens. It was true these things could be used to describe Tasa, if it was not for the various subtitles that separated her from her kin. Frequently garbed in a mixture of plate, fur, and leathers, she bore the mark of a fighter. The mark only further pushed to the front of a viewer's eye by the large, heavy axe that was never out of arms reach of the Elezen.

Speech

With a voice deep and weathered with age and experience Tasa addresses both friend and foe alike in a thick, heavy tone. She hails from Limsa Lominsa and talks like the saltiest sailor on the block.

Behavior

To friends and allies Tasa is a boisterous, easy going woman who seems to have not a care in the world. She is kind, warm, and ever ready to jest and laugh with anyone she has the privilege to get to know. Still, this warmth comes with a chilling gaze to those whom would wrong her. She is certainly the kind of a woman to hold a grudge until any sort of wound is mended.

Motivations: Protecting those who need it, attempting to atone for her past sins and wrong doings.
Disposition: An easy going but fiercely loyal friend who isn't afraid to play rough and seek blood for blood.
Outlook: Grimly optimistic.

Positive Personality Traits

Protective, friendly, motherly, easy going, determined.

Negative Personality Traits

Vindictive, chaotic, stubborn, cocky.

Combat

Tasa has a number of skills at her disposal as a fighter, however nearly all of them rely on her axe. As a forged axe of legend, Blaetsyng is a well tempered, bloodied weapon that has been bound to Tasa over years of conflict and warfare. With it in hand she's a terrifying presence. Tasa boasts exceptional strength and fitness for her kind along with near inhuman levels of stamina. She is, for all intents and purposes, a fighter that revels in combat. Part of the 'mighty glacier' archetype, Tasa relies on raw power and endurance to be able to outlast her opponent as they throw themselves against the mountain of steel that is her armored form. Piercing her defenses is no small feat, but a show of skill and a few well placed blades is all it really takes to cripple the warrior before she has a chance to get going. Without her axe Tasa is fairly useless. She can throw her weight around and slug it out like the scrapper she is but for the most part she's an easy target if she isn't armed.

Tasa is familiar with two kinds of axe styles. The savage onslaughts of a marauder and the unmoving titan of a warrior.

The warrior's discipline is what Tasa generally defaults to. The axe is a defensive weapon, despite what most view of the thing. With its lopsided weight and hook it's more suited for choice strikes rather than flailing about like most might do with a sword. Generally banking on her experience and keen eyes, Tasa weathers out her opponent's initial fury with skillful parrying and deflection only to lead them into a position where she can easily take them out with a single blow. If the woman is of stable footing there truly is little that can make her flinch if she's taken on her traditional methods of pure defense.

On the opposite side is the brutal sadism of a marauder. This is generally regarded as Tasa's true style and is very rarely shown. For those that do not fall to her experience or manage to pass her defenses their strikes may only rattle the cage of a beast. Within each warrior's heart is a beast, a creature of undying fury that fuels their blood lust. Once awakened, Tasa adopts an almost suicidal style. She swings with abandon, each strike easily able to crush bone and cleave limbs, but because of this they're quite predictable. That's where Tasa found a use for intentionally throwing herself around or putting herself in bad positions. It's not uncommon for her to find a blade stuck into her body as she takes hold of someone and wrestles them into the perfect position to chop them in two. After all, it's never over til it's over.

Besides her axe, Tasa has more recently taken on the training of the dark knights to compliment her axe abilities. While still obsessively loyal to her craft she's admitted that she could be stronger with some added powers and she's finally started taking steps to gain those powers. For now, her darkness is embodied in ways that cover her weaknesses. Be it flinging dark bolts to attack from a range or sacrificing the ability to attack for a truly ultimate defense, Tasa strives to be the shield for those that cannot weather the storms of war without her. The dark is not always evil nor are those that wield it, even if her bloodied past would make it hard to believe there was any good left in her soul.

Tendencies

LIKES

Has almost an obsession with various kinds of juices.
She never turns down a friendly bout, her favorite is mud wrestling.
A cozy pub and a friendly wench are quoted to be things that she cannot get enough of.

DISLIKES

Young adventurers who consider themselves her equal.
The reckless and stupid.
Shady people.

MISC. QUIRKS

Despite frequenting pubs across Eorzea, Tasa rarely drinks.
Tasa has very poor reading and writing skills, pirates don't need letters!
Speaks about her axe as if its a living being. While not uncommon amongst martial folk, she has been occasionally overseen speaking to it.

HOBBIES/TALENTS

Tasa is quite the pub gambler. She loves cards and dice games.
She takes jobs for the miner's guild on occasion, she says she enjoys the 'honest work.'
Her skill with an axe is second to none, but she has almost zero combat talent in anything else.

Relationships

Family

Tasa never knew her birth parents. She was raised by a Sea Wolf pirate named Abylibhar for about seventeen years before parting ways. While the pair were close she sought adventure and has long since lost contact with the man. Occasionally she thinks to seek him out again, but his tendencies to deal with ports less traveled make such contact difficult.

Enemies

While Tasa's main enemies are anyone whom would be viewed as evil or corrupt, save for general threats against Eorzea she doesn't have very many of them for a woman so plagued by conflict.

Player Character Standing

Romantic Interest     Sexual Desire     Platonic Love      Good Standing     Neutral Standing     Poor Standing

Yashaix Kilari - A dark skinned Miqo'te who has been in and out of contact with Tasa for a number of cycles. The two shared a strong friendship before it blossomed into a loving relationship. The woman soon took Tasa into her dark circle and made her her guardian. However, over the course of their relationship it became obvious the mix of interests was causing tension until a broken pact nearly cost them their lives. They eventually repaired their relationship and Ki'lari has accepted Tasa's request to marriage. Regarded as the only one strong enough to hold Tasa's leash, in a figurative sense.

Sami Rhoka - A quiet and driven rogue that came as part of the trio of sisters that were taken in by Ki'lari, Sami was one that Tasa immediately found kinship with. The two didn't talk a lot until the Starlight festival initiated a somewhat unexpected but intimate time between the two. They've slowly seemed to grow apart, something that makes Tasa a bit upset but ultimately knows life isn't always as nice to everyone as she wishes it would be.

Cartie Grimshadow - A 'sister' to Ki'lari and wife to John, Tasa and Cartie certainly share a similar group of companions. Despite this the two rarely spoke much directly. Eventually something that was changed over a bit of shared knowledge Tasa's opinion of Cartie only rises as they continue to pursue a friendship with one another.

Deitrala Kastner - Through thick and thin Deitrala and Tasa have been able to stick together. Over time they've grown apart but Tasa's protective nature towards the Keeper as kept her in good favor, especially since she's finally seeming to grow into the woman Tasa knew she could be.

John Spiegel - A highland dark knight who has time and time again had Tasa's back despite rarely asking for help. Quiet, dependable, and a bit of a jokester when it calls for it, Tasa has long since garnered a large amount of respect for the older man. Through him she was granted the ability to manipulate the darkness and was the one that started her on her path to accept the darkside that she desperately decided she needed to further her own agendas.

Aanzo Dinzo - While the Lalafellen man and Tasa do not work together often, the few times they have had contact has proved fruitful to the both of them. Serving the same crew, in a sense, has left them with reasonably fond feelings for one another, at least on the surface. They currently work behind the scenes to keep an eye on the others to make sure nothing bad befalls their friends.

Qhas'ir Mujuuk - A Keeper of the Moon who serves Ki'lari loyally. Because of this dedication to a common cause Qhas'ir has a good amount of Tasa's respect and his work as a healer has earned him her protection should he need it. Their relationship and conversations rarely stray away from their respective jobs, but the talks are always pleasant and enjoyable for Tasa.

History/Timeline

On the seventh day of the third astral moon in the year 1449 a higher class Elezen family was given a daughter. While her father silently cursed the Twelve for not giving him a son his wife was instantly won by the girl's striking blue eyes and highly curious personality. The pair were practically inseparable, a trait that would come to shift the path of their daughter's life.

With a few moons shy of a cycle since their daughter's birth the couple and two bodyguards met on the shores of a La Nocean beach with a Seawolf pirate named Abylibhar. A ruthless man who made a hefty amount of coin moving all sorts of delicate cargo. When a deal went sour Abylibhar and his men slew the four and took what they could from their possessions. The crying of a child brought the pirate's attention towards the now abandoned transport they had traveled on. Abylibhar might have had stained hands, but his personal code spared children his wrath. It was that day Tasa was given her name and taken aboard the ship.

For seventeen years Tasa grew into a fearsome marauder under her adoptive father's tutelage. It was as if the young girl had melted the pirate's icy heart, his business turning far more legal in trade. She would never find out that the man she idolized had been the one that had murdered her parents, even if she occasionally lay awake wondering why she was the only one like herself she had met.

On the eve of her eighteenth adoptive nameday the pair parted ways, Tasa growing tired of the life on the ships and wanting to see the world. While she had a pocket full of coin from her father it was quickly spent on things the woman hadn't much use for after the fact and the tired and hungry Elezen was found at the base of a mountain by a young Hellsguard boy who brought her back to his village. After a night of merriment and food the village leader offered Tasa an ultimatum. Work her debt off or prove her strength. Her savage, unrefined style saw to the defeat of two promising young warriors and Tasa was given the opportunity to join their village. It was here she spent roughly ten years training and learning the ways of a warrior.

One day, after earning her garb and a properly forged axe, she departed again from a warm home and promising friends to seek adventure. What she lacked now in coin she made up for in skills and took up a few odd jobs to keep her hunger at bay. A year of honest work passed until she was found by a curious Lalafellen man who made her an offer she couldn't refuse. For untold wealth she only had to swear her allegiance to him and do as he wished, noting that her skills with the axe would serve them both well.

This was not a relationship that proved fruitful in the ways that Tasa had hoped. Over the next ten years Tasa would meet many men and women who would show her the other side of the coin, the bloodied, terrible side. It was at her master's bidding she sold her skills to people abusing them for personal gain, for revenge seeking, or merely because they wanted to watch someone bleed on the floor. Under threat of death for disobedience she bid her time until one event pushed her over the edge.

It was on a notable night, five years from the present day, that she carved through the ranks of her corrupted company. Freeing any who had kept their sanity about them enough to not stand in her way, she left a trail of bodies in her wake before adding the small man's body to the pile. It was then she vowed never to blindly follow another again. She had learned the hard way promises and kind words meant nothing and only actions truly spoke.

To this day she seeks to atone for what she had done, wipe away the innocent blood on her hands yet never forget those who's voices still haunt her dreams.
