Our Recruitment Goal "To allow Aeon to recruit the best quality people possible at a rate that is right for us, while allowing a fair and reasonable method by which potential members can apply and be considered for membership." Aeon's Recruitment Process The Steps 1.) First, begin by submitting your application here on the site. 2.) You'll receive a message from us confirming that we've received your application. Shortly after, we will let you know whether you application has been accepted or rejected. 3.) If your application was accepted, it's time to come hang out with us! 4.) Once we've got to know you a bit, you'll need to receive 3 vouches from our members. (This may be reduced to 2 vouches, depending on your circumstances), 5.) Once you've received your vouches, your application will be confirmed, and you'll have access to Aeon's forums. Contact a Vanguard in-game for your invite! 6.) You'll enter the FC at the Shard Bearer rank; this is your trial period, and lasts for 30 days. If all goes well, at the end of your first 30 days, you'll be given the rank of Branded and become a permanent member of Aeon FC. Similarly, if you are applying to become a Linkshell member you will still start your 30 day trial period, which will have time tracked here on the forums. Rules 1) Be Considerate! Don't make the group story suddenly revolve entirely around your character. Don't dominate core elements of the story without leaving it relatively open for others to build upon. Think of how your actions can potentially affect others OOC. 2) Be Inclusive! When you join Aeon, you should join knowing that it's expected for you to try and RP with everyone else in the group. Personal stories for you and your closest buddies are fine, but try your best to include everyone if you can - especially when it involves the Aeon storyline. Remember, Aeon is about collaboration! 3) Be Active! We don't expect you to actively chat and RP with us every single day. However, if you're going to be a part of the FC/LS, then be a part of the FC/LS. Chat with us every once in a while. RP in the LS once or twice a week, just enough for people to remember some interactions with your character. It doesn't take very much. If you're having trouble slipping into things for whatever reason, please feel free to contact Aurou Mhirata, K'ziyo Tia, Leon Greymoon, or Rei'li Niraj. They're happy to help you out! If you can't find the time to be an active member we will kindly recommend that you join a group more suited towards your interests. If you have a circumstance that keeps you from attending events please keep the Vanguards informed to stay in an 'active' status. 4) Communicate! Anytime there's an issue about anything - 9 times out of 10, the simplest way to resolve it is clear, polite, OOC communication. Just grab someone and talk to them! The officers are happy to help with mediation, if necessary. IC/OOC bleeding will only be given one warning before removal is enforced. 5) Don't Be Butthurt! The story belongs to everyone, so feel free to experiment with it! HOWEVER - know that what you do may get retconned if it locks someone out of RP or makes it too hard for everyone else to participate in the story. 6) Don't be a Dick. Seriously. Don't do it. In the event someone may have possibly acted like a dick, but it isn't entirely clear, Aeon runs with a 3-strikes rule. However, one instance of clear and unquestionable douchebaggary will result in immediate removal from the FC and Linkshell. Period. Policy Members MUST be 18+. No exceptions. Aeon engages in a wide variety of RP, some of which may include mature themes. We will not censor anything which could potentially add to character development, plot progression, or fun RP drama. That said, ‘mature themes’ does not include an endorsement for ERP. Please keep such RP out of public view and reserved for private channels. You are responsible for making / finding your own RP. Aeon holds a wide variety of events to help our members get involved in new and established plots, as well as giving them opportunities to interact and build relationships with their FC/LS mates. Regardless, we encourage all of our members to be proactive and assertive in creating their own opportunities for fun and rewarding roleplay, because free and frequent RP is how RP communities flourish! To that end, you will find ample support in creating and running storylines and events here in Aeon. Characters must be appropriately named. For the sake of plausibility and immersion, we will only consider applicants who have a name either in accordance with the established FFXIV lore, or a fantasy setting in general. Inappropriate or offensive names, or names taken from existing characters in other franchises, will not be allowed. Don’t be the RP police. Fun comes first in Aeon, and anything that can potentially lead to fun is usually something we endorse. To this end, we support a wide variety of storytelling and play styles, including that which can sometimes bend (but not break) the lore. As long as there is a plausible reason for your choice, we will be behind it. If you are not comfortable with lore-bending, or if you personally wish to remain 110% faithful to the lore, that is fine – but please do not nitpick, attack, lecture, or flame those who do not share your adherence. Don’t be the PvE police, either. Simply put, Aeon is not a progression guild. Our focus is on hardcore RP and event-based storytelling. Members are more than encouraged to pursue their own PvE interests at their own pace, and we will endeavor to support each other in any and all dungeon-based needs. However, some members have no interest in endgame, min-maxing, gearing up, perfecting rotations, or other similar pursuits. Offering these members unsolicited advice or commenting on their playstyle is absolutely not ok. Similarly, while it is fine to share with us your PvE achievements so that we can celebrate them with you, we will not tolerate excessive bragging about your endgame progress. Maintain positive engagement with the community. Remember that as a part of Aeon, you are wearing our tag next to your name and thus are representing us to the rest of the server community at large. It is expected that you will remain respectful at all times in public chat channels, linkshells, dungeon parties, alliances, and on forums. There is never an excuse to treat other players poorly. A 90-day absence means removal. We understand that sometimes, RL happens. If it does, all you need to do is leave us a quick forum post informing us of your absence, and roughly how long you mean to be gone -- we'll hold your spot in the guild for you. If, however, you do not give us a warning of your absence and you are gone for 90 days, you will be removed from the guild to help maintain a tidy roster. Once you return, just send one of the officers a tell and you'll be invited right back in. Coordinate with someone before rescue RP. Every once in a while, it's fun to have your character get in to trouble and have others come rescue them. If you want to have this happen, please either plan it in advance or simply ask in OOC-chat if anyone is up for some random rescue RP. You are in the clear as long as you have at least one group member on board with what you would like to do. Spontaneous rescue RP with the intent of forcing people to drop what they're doing and come after you, however, is very selfish and generally not cool. We want to come find you, but please, be considerate of others and what RP they may already be involved in first.

What is Aeon? The story of Aeon is an original concept set within the lore of FFXIV's world, Hydaelyn. Eras ago, a powerful aetherial weapon was shattered into countless pieces by a band of heroes. To prevent it from ever being remade and wielded, a spell was cast over the shards of the weapon; each would travel through the aether to find sanctuary within the body of a soul who would act as its host and guardian until their dying day. Those who bear a shard develop a distinctive runic mark on their skin, and as such have come to be known in certain esoteric circles as the Branded. These marks forge a unique connection between the Branded, gifting them with the ability to ‘see’ each other over vast distances, and share thoughts and experiences over their telepathic Link. Hiya~! So i was browsing this RP thread obviously and saw that you guys happened to make a post about opening up applications again. Ive been looking to get back into FF with the upcoming expansion and as an avid lover of RP and things FF i was hoping to find people to enjoy it with. Now with that in Mind, i had a second more direct question. Ive got a friend who would want to come and apply with me, should she make an post here as well or is mine alright for both of us. The past four months have flown by quickly for us as we've continued with our FC MSQ. We hold major events at least monthly and often have smaller supporting and other member run events in between. Recently we've welcome a new Vanguard to our Officer team to better support our EU and late night members~ Long time member Rei'li Niraj graciously stepped up to the task and has been a wonderful addition thus far! As mentioned in previous posts, our FC family covers A LOT of time zones, though our main events are often run in GMT-5 (EST) evenings. With Revolution calling in Doma and Ala Mhigo, I have a feeling several personal stories are going to twist and turn, guiding some members to leave Eorzean soil. Our members shape the way that Aeon's story flows so who knows what's on the horizon for our MSQ as a whole! Hi, I am very much interested in this free company and, if I were being honest, reading that you need to be invited to apply makes me a little discouraged (as I'm a little shy). So, I was wondering how one goes about attaining an invite? Are there specific methods? Also, I'm sorry if I'm asking while recruitment is closed, I'm getting some mixed messages and I guess I'm just trusting what the initial post talking about the FC said.

Hey Tagyr! Thanks for the question. Depending on the day we might have someone on at almost all hours if school or work isn't in the way of gaming time. While we live in timezones spanning from GMT-8 to GMT+2, some are night owls for their respective areas. I know there is generally someone around starting at like 10am EST to 4am EST (1500 GMT to 0900 GMT). As long as you don't fall in that odd 6 hour pocket of time there is usually company. - Aurou

Hello! I spoke you to awhile ago (Gold Shade). I have a tricky question in regards to activity. Dunno if your members assorted timezones account for this, but I am a JST (Japan standard time), which is somewhere in the middle of things timezone wise I guess. I play often on my nights and a lot on the weekends, but as far as intersecting times it might be sporadic, though doubtless my timezone would cover someones morning/night because I am a nightowl myself (which'd be US mornings/EU Afternoons), even for a little. Would that be a deterrent if I was to apply (if \when you open recruitment again)?.

Making it through 2016 truly has been akin to surviving a second meteor fall, what a roller coaster year... On the Aeon front we will be celebrating our first anniversary under current Vanguard leadership. We're still kicking and absolutely thriving! We've been advancing our FC story over the past several months; reintroducing plot points that were covered under the original membership, and now working on completely new plot material that will surprise even our legacy members. We also have 3 special members that we call 'Founders', while they no longer play often or have moved on to other things, still will always have a place in the FC that they worked so hard to create. Character Break Down: Mains (23): 7 Hyur, 10 Miqo'te, 0 Lalafell, 0 Roegadyn, 3 Elezen, 3 Au Ra -- 7 females, 16 males (Characters played most often) Alts (24): 4 Hyur, 7 Miqo'te, 1 Lalafell, 2 Roegadyn, 2 Elezen, 8 Au Ra -- 12 females, 12 males (In Aeon we use Alts as plot devices, as secondary characters when mains might be otherwise unavailable, and simply as another flavor of character to play from time to time) Founders (3): 1 Hyur, 0 Miqo'te, 1 Lalafell, 1 Rogadyn, 0 Elezen, 0 Au Ra (Our beloved founding members) Our members span across TEN different time zones! Our late night crowd is all the way over on the West Coast USA in PST/GMT-8, and our future crowd is all the way over the Europe in CET/GMT+2. We have members sprinkled throughout North American, a few different European countries, and even a South American or two. At this time our recruitment will remain closed. We have a few very important character plots playing out and are gearing up for another FC story event to happen this month. The enemies of the Branded grow ever more bold in their actions. The strongest of the company have set out to weed out those that wish their companions harm while those less capable in battle have begun to train in various skills. Unknown threats still loom in the shadows, waiting for an opportune moment to reveal themselves. We've hosted FC MSQ, a number of member-based MSQ events, a few socials, an OOC voice meeting, and several smaller scale events in just this past month. There was never more than a five-day stretch without something happening. To see this wonderful FC rise again from the near-shambles that it was at the start of the year is nothing short of amazing to me. I try to always thank our members, because without their dedication, creativity, and drive this would be just another broken group left to vanish into the Aether. We've welcomed three new members into our family so far this recruitment cycle. Steinarr, Zarik, and Zevi'to have all brought their own unique flair to our story and we are so happy to have them! We've also taken in Ally friends, welcoming them to become a little more involved with our story through their interaction with Aeon members - this is an invitation only offer that we extend to our closest of outside friends. They are every bit as much apart of our Aeon family (just without the cool perks and swanky <> tag) - So also a warm welcome to our new Allies Dorothea and Ta'hu! Aeon recruitment will be closing in 10 short days on October 25th. If you've been thinking about joining but haven't submit an app yet, now is the time to do so! Hello Lu'un, Thanks for the question! It's completely fine if you aren't up to speed on game content. Sometimes we might touch on the story in idle chatter RP-wise, but if we know that someone isn't there yet we do try to avoid spoilers. The only thing that you might be missing out on is if an event is hosted in a HW locked area, but again we do try to take into consideration the levels and progress of characters involved! I'm very interested in applying. I've been working on my character concept for a while now and, after some playing around with it and what not, I think I've found something I love. I think (I hope) it's original enough. I can't wait for September so I can apply! That being said, is it alright that I'm not caught up with the story yet? I've come back from a year long break and have yet to purchase Heavensward. I will, but I'm looking to sink my feet back into RPing and find a nice, comfy FC to enjoy my free time with. Finding a good group of people is a much higher priority than end game raiding. Right now I'm part of an FC, and the people are very nice, but they aren't nearly as RP oriented as I was hoping.
