  1. Sorry. I meant like dark as in like "crime or mafia" type of RP. Nothing like super sexual like rape or actual character death!
  2. Howdy. So I had a question concerning character things. My upcoming elezen was being aimed for the potential for a more darker RP themed ventures and that thing. I just don't know how to involve myself with that type of thing.
  3. For me though, it's not that the RP is dying. Quite the opposite. I can usually pass a few people in cities and see a few people RPing everywhere. It's that about 90% of it outside of groups or FCs is more or less Tavern Nights / Bar Nights / Slice of Life things (BarP, if you will). Very few will venture outside of such things with exceptions being server wide events or ones that involve a great deal of people or FCs.
  4. As been said time and time again, it's a VERY exhausting process. I hope that both players know the following actions, social obligations (no bringing your baby to a murder hall), and consequences of agreeing for their characters to become pregnant. I've done it for one character in World of Warcraft long ago and learned a few things from some mothers who actually had advice for translating such a thing into a kind of fictional narrative. Ultimately, it's up to your players to decide what they want to do with this. There's a lot of room for potential character development and growth here. Onwards to help. I had 2 characters (Yvonne Vulioux and the first iteration of Towering Peach) who both had children. They were NPCs and had various ways of interaction and RP alongside the duties they had and being a parent. For Yvonne, she had a situation that was much closer in nature to your RPers. She needed money, did odd jobs and darker aspects of RP. What I did was have her say she would hire a nanny (NPC) for her daughter while out on these events. When in a place where she could take her daughter, Yvonne would do so. Interaction with and without the daughter character changed her dramatically. When the daughter was at home, she was much more colorful with her language, cruel, and impatient. When her daughter was near, she became a completely different person. She minded her tongue and never cursed, became cheerful and trying to push her daughter to learn from the world around them and more patient. Yvonne had a child and kept her routine darker nature to her, but would have moments where her motherly side showed through, like being troubled by the sound of people crying as it reminded her too much of the child, and do whatever she could to make it stop. Towering Peach took a slightly different approach. She was an old roe who came across an unlucky orphan and more or less just offered to take her in for a while until she could be handed over to a good home. They ended up bonding close enough that she outright adopted the child and would be there whenever she could. Even without the child around, she would always mention her to everything she met. They might have not been related by blood, but Peach loved her child with all of her old heart. When I eventually retired her character for a young version, I had the old Hellsguard retire from her job and move closer to Limsa where she could devote most of her time to the kid. These two examples are the most common in stories, and for good reason. They're easy to relate to, even if we haven't known what it's like for a person to feel like if they're on the other end of the spectrum. The important thing to do this RESEARCH. No seriously, tell the players to do research on this if they haven't already. Look up things until their eyes melt and then do it more. Most people just jump headfirst into a character idea without the proper research and soon run into walls that they don't know how to overcome. Pregnancy is one hell of an experience for women, and no two are the same. Have them look up the effects, what it does to the body, how it changes them as a person, all the juicy parts. Their character could just be scared at the thought of giving birth while working in this dark environment, do something hasty and that they don't think all the way through. There's a lot of angles you can take with this, but it depends on if they want to stick with it for the full run. If they intend on dropping the child entirely, it's probably best for them to reconsider.
  5. I feel that if Viera are announced as a playable race, they would be under fire for "not being how they were originally portrayed" The dev team would probably take some artistic liberties to separate them from the game they debuted in, lighting a fire that would cause many a heated forum topic.
  6. Welcome to the RPC! You've got a pretty cool character there! I have a friendly ala mighan fighter and an ishgardian exile that could use some contacts!
  7. I love your style! It reminds of a mixture of classic cartoons mixed with more modern aesthetics!
  8. Howdy! Crystal Chronicle / The Garnet Gazette Ace Ward Khojin Tumet here! We haven't gotten a website or official Discord up just yet, as we're still building stuff. Currently, for the first few issues or so, things will be quite basic, based on our small team's OOC knowledge of websites and such and ICly, because none of us have experience or knowledge of press things. When we get further along and get things functional, there will probably be links and such readily available. If you have any questions, comments, or anything, please feel free to send me a tell via Discord or the RPC! My Discord name is Neryem#9165
  9. Seconding this if you're still looking for more contacts. Yvonne is an ex Ishgardian spearman, having been discharged after losing a limb and heavy injuries mid Dragonsong War. Her daughter is a young mixed child, showing signs of a becoming a Hearer and somewhat timid because of the voices she's scared to, discuss.
  10. I'll totally go through all of those things and apply them to the character. Thanks for the help!
  11. Howdy again. I've been working on an elezen character for some time now and was hoping to get some feedback here since I don't know the exact specifics when it comes to Ishgardian lore. Without further ado: Ex-Ishardian Noble Second child of Vuiloux House. Has an older brother who was deemed a heretic and took his own life to save the purity of his family's name. She was very close to him and this was the beginning of many strained ties between her and her family after learning of the truth (he was innocent, used as a scapegoat) and failing to have her parents see reason. Used status to find her way into whatever armed forces that the Ishgardians have, trained as a lancer (not a dragoon) and served in whatever kind of wars that occurred during her time. While treated as the stereotypical "spoiled brat" who bought her way into the forces, she had considerable talent with a lance. During one of the later skirmishes during Heavensward, her right arm was severed/destroyed by whatever means and she was dismissed because of her injury. She returned home and left again several months after multiple disagreement with her parents. Before she left, she visited the machinist's guild headquarters for several months before retreating from Ishgard out of curiosity. It was there that the noblewoman found her love for the craft and soon commissioned a magitek arm to replace her missing one. Currently, she would be working on her own things in her workshop near Ul'dah/Limsa. After serving in the forces, she would suffer from a minor form of PTSD and avoid meat in general. She would also suffer from phantom limb pain and sometime be seen picking at her arm.
  12. Ah my mistake. Thank you for the help!
  13. Very good point! I suppose she would have been born into poverty before the fall which explains her rather stubborn and attachment to her property. She would have grown up either in a city itself or somewhere rural. Her parents would have been pretty absent in her life from either working or the alternative, dead or just uncaring. Her treatment has left her with a very sour taste of Ul'dah and its natives. Do you have anymore questions or critiques? (sorry. not good with xiv lore!)
  14. So I currently play my aspiring ICly healer, a lalafell, and was interested to fantasia her to another race, specifically a hyur. Since Stormblood is is full effect and more ala mhigan characters are popping up I thought I would ago ahead and give it a shot to see how it would be with my lala's fell backstory. I found the angle of roleplaying a shy and timid ala mhighan wishing to grow as strong and confident as her kind. So here's the brief summary so far: The character would be fairly young, around 16-18 and be the standard ala mhigan, not wanted or looked upon with much regard in Ul'dah. She would have experience in alchemy and herbology to a certain extent, scrounging for outdated texts on the craft to better herself and her kind. It would be through some stray luck that she manage to hear about a job in Limsa. She dumped all of the gil she could muster and sought passage to gamble one this one last shot. The job would be a set up by a rogue band of pirates, capturing the character and learning of their talents of working with herbs. Seeing the opportunity for some extra cash, she was put to use with the synthesis of drugs and other numerous illegal goods under the service of the pirates. She would have managed to escape around the current time of adventurers and the king leaving to Doma and Ala Mhigo.
