1. Welcome to Mateus! :moogle: I'll gladly add you on Enqu, Eylili, Alta, and Ilakha (my only few on Mateus right now, everyone else has to be transferred, lol) when available! It seems we're roleplayers of a similar nature, as well! If you have a favorite hub or city, do tell! ( Also, you're free to hit me up about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure ANYTIME. My personal favorites being Battle Tendency and Steel Ball Run, but I like all the other parts equally. I'm just partial to those, I suppose! )
2. Welcome! Glad to have another on Balmung's little sibling RP server, Mateus! :moogle: When you decide on her origins and backstory, do let me know! I'd love to roleplay with you sometime! As a suggestion; we can never have too many Ishgardians! Since Heavensward, there's lore galore about there! Whichever you choose, hope to see you around!
3. Oh, how excellent! Another Sharlayan! :moogle: Since Rin'li's new to Eorzea and such, if he ever needs help, he's welcome to come to Enqu for help, anytime! Being a cartographer, he knows the place like the back of his hand! There's actually an event he's hosting tomorrow, from 3 PM (EST) to an indefinite time (latest being midnight EST), so you can show up anytime! Just head to the Mist, 5th Ward, Plot 5! Around the three major city-states, he can find this flyer; Whether or not you think you can make it, feel free to PM me here or tell Enqu Gosaqu in-game that you'd like the arrange a meeting sometime! Good luck and have fun!
4. I've been peeking at this thread for a while now so I figured I'd like to join in, though reading your update, I have to add; I'm terribly sorry you had to go through watching your father suffer and be in such pain like that, and for your loss. You have my sincerest condolences! Like Siha said, you really don't have to apologize for anything. You take as much time as you need. If somebody gets demanding, that's on them for being greedy and inconsiderate. It has nothing to do with you. In fact, you don't even have to draw him, but here's an image of my half-Elezen, half-Hyur (offering a reassuring smile; "things are tough right now, but you'll make it through this, I promise!") I hope the lighting is good enough here! Not too blurry, not too blaring! https://imgur.com/a/DIIRT PS; I like how the URL calls him "dirt" LOL
5. I was just reading along with the thread and nodding along until reading this particular scenario made me squint. To be quite honest, I'm quite curious myself; how on Earth (Hydaelyn?) would she think that's a thing anywhere culturally? And why would she randomly ask about it? I think it's the quest "It's Not Easy Being Green" where there's a couple that's faced tension for being a Miqo'te and a Hyur(?), but that's pretty much all I recall about stuff like that between Hyur and Miqo'te in specific. Otherwise, Midlander what? Immediately, I find myself absurdly curious, even moreso than confused (probably because I roleplay a character is half Ishgardian Elezen, the other half being Hyur, so he's been openly called a "half-breed" by even well-meaning characters in IC dialogue, not to mention the irony that much of the racism he's gotten from PC's so far has been from ""Ishgardian"" Miqo'te, of all races to care for some reason, much less hail from a 95% Elezen city, lol)... in Heavensward, isn't Hilda's title "The Mongrel" because she's half highborn Elezen, half lowborn Hyur? In fact, I believe there's drastically more highborn Elezen than Hyur. The main four noble houses themselves are all Elezen, anyway.
6. Entry III 11th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon Dear Diary, Well, I've made it to Limsa Lominsa! After I had achieved membership with the Culinarians' Guild two years prior, my application to work at the Bismarck has finally gotten through! I know how busy they are, but I had begun to fear, since I had sent it roughly a moon ago. I hope my frequent letters to check on them weren't too bothersome... I don't mind so much a position as a waitress. In a way, it suits me; I get to meet new people from all over, especially since Limsa Lominsa is practically Eorzea's front door to other nations overseas. Can you believe that on my first day, I've met somebody from Hingashi? Luckily, they spoke good Common Eorzean, and to hear them speak of their home was magnificent. How the marketplace was lit by lanterns alone at night, everyone traversing the streets in elegant robes, the women with parasols. I think the part that enamored me the most was their description of the 'geisha'; female performers who appear as they they've walked out of a painting. As opposed to 'walk', maybe 'glided' is an even better word. Their robes are apparently so intricate and flowing, they wear very tall clogs when outdoors so that it doesn't trail in the dirt. Every motion they make is extremely controlled and especially trained, so that even setting tables looks like a performance of utter grace! How splendid! Though it is most likely a distant dream, if I ever go to Hingashi, I'd really love to see one myself. Maybe even get the chance to hire one! (Of course, they're probably super expensive...) That being said, because many of us migrated from the south seas to Eorzea, I don't think there's very many Hingan Plainsfolk, much less Dunesfolk. Still, I wonder if Lalafellin geiko exist? Hm... Nonetheless, I'm content in Limsa Lominsa. My great great grandparents (father's side, of course) came from here to Gridania to study botany and found Mountain's Edge Orchard. Grandma had gone back to work with the Culinarians' Guild, thus she trained me in the art of cooking while my other sisters worked the fields. One thing I certainly don't miss from Gridania is the roguing... many say they're 'just plants', but honestly, having to uproot sick or deformed trees (all they did was grow, it's what plants do!) is kind of sad, but we have to burn them so the others don't get infected, after all. I do hope my sisters are managing well without me. I'm the only one without a twin/quadruplet, so I think Grandma figured I was pretty lonely working by myself, so she taught me how to help out the farm indoors. Hopefully their work load hasn't grown since I've left... in any case, I just got some cinnamon tea from Ul'dah that I'm going to mail to them this Firesday, that they can drink during their downtime and to show I'm still thinking of them! Meanwhile, I got Ma a shawl from Sunsilk Tapestries and Pa a silver-rimmed box of frankincense from Sapphire Avenue. I hope they like their souvenirs! (I'm doing a lot of hoping recently... I should do more 'doing'!) - Eylili P.S. - It's 'Wellwick Wood', actually!
7. Entry I 8th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon Dear Diary, The desert is...colder than I thought it would be. After traversing the swamp of Rootslake, I've finally made it out of the Black Shroud. Though, by the time I got to Wallow-wick Wood(?) (I think that's the name?), it was pouring down rain. I could hardly see 4 fulms in front of me. It was all grey! I hope such a situation wouldn't worry Ma and Pa too much. They said they don't doubt me, but... It still feels as though they expect a lot from me, especially when Satoto and Eytoto looked up to me so much back on the farm. I hope even more that everyone is doing well without me. I was the former resource manager, after all. It wasn't a task suited for me, I think, but it made me feel like I had a purpose. It also taught me skills without which I don't think I'd be able to survive on my own. I thank the Matron every day for having such a wonderful family and a flourishing business. Still wishing to start my own, if She wills it, I will make for Ul'dah by daybreak. 'Til then, I seek refuge at Highbridge. If the storm still rages on, so be it. I'm not stubborn (I don't think so, anyway...), but since the last Calamity, a majority of passengers on board the ferry to Limsa Lominsa have been adventurers. Not that that's a problem (though seeing an influx of soldiers can be a bit really intimidating); it just means I have to act fast if I want a ticket soon, lest I get stuck in Ul'dah for a moon or two. Eykeke says they had begun making reservations favoring those working directly with the Eorzean Alliance. If she is correct, I pray I will be fast enough so I won't have to spend my days scrambling for a seat on the next ferry. For now, I pray Nophica bestows upon me Her earthly guidance. - Eylili
8. Update, update, update! :moogle: So! Lion boi was recycled, but I won't go deleting any posts I made about him or anything. I still like him, I just fell out of the mood for roleplaying him anymore. Instead, a Fantasia'd him to... another Lala! His profile is in my signature! Enqu Gosaqu [Mateus] - Son of Sharlayan ex-Forum member and Garlean Praefectus. Astrologian. Makes maps of land and sky. Best friend is a Moogle alchemist (kupo!). Currently employed at the Tsundoku Carbuncle College! They're currently looking for students and teachers themselves! A very cool Mateus-based FC! As usual, I'd love to meet new people in-character and out-of-character with him! o v o)/
9. It's totally alright! I just came off of a several billion year hiatus myself. We're glad to have you! Welcome! :moogle:
10. I did, but it says I don't exist. :C ...also my parrot sneezed and it was pretty cute, but that's off topic-
11. Thanks so much, everyone! I'm exciting about getting started! It's just that... I can't log into the Wiki to make profiles for some reason? I thought I did everything I needed to? :<
12. Hello there! It's nice to meet you! I must say, your characters have some of the most aesthetically pleasing names I've ever seen! I can't wait to read more about them! c:
13. Eylili Eyli https://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/f/f5/470Leafeon.png/600px-470Leafeon.png[/img] Leafeon, the Verdant Pokémon Type: Grass Ability: Leaf Guard (Hidden: Chlorophyll) Nature: Careful Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clear air. - Diamond & Pearl (2006) (I have Pearl, my first Pokémon game~) It basically does not fight. With cells similar to those of plants, it can perform photosynthesis. - Platinum (2008) Leaf Guard - During harsh sunlight, Leaf Guard prevents the Pokémon from being afflicted by non-volatile status conditions and Yawn(including via the Flame Orb and Toxic Orb).If a Pokémon with this Ability is drowsy due to Yawn, if there is harsh sunlight when it would fall asleep the Ability activates and keeps it awake. Chlorophyll - During harsh sunlight, the Speed stat of Pokémon with this Ability is doubled. Yanlin Chow Haxorus, the Axe Jaw Pokémon Type: Dragon Ability: Mold Breaker (Hidden: Unnerve) Nature: Adamant They are kind but can be relentless when defending territory. They challenge foes with tusks that can cut steel. - Black (2010) Their sturdy tusks will stay sharp even if used to cut steel beams. These Pokémon are covered in hard armor. - White (2010) (I have this, too~) Mold Breaker - Mold Breaker ignores the effects of Abilities that could potentially affect the damage or effects of a move that its user executes. Unnerve - Unnerve causes the opponent to be unable to eat its own held Berry. Nanahiqi Sosohiqi Mienfoo, the Martial Arts Pokémon Type: Fighting Ability: Inner Focus (Hidden: Reckless) Nature: Sassy They have mastered elegant combos. As they concentrate, their battle moves become swifter and more precise. - White (2010) It takes pride in the speed at which it can use moves. What it loses in power, it makes up for in quantity. - Black 2 & White 2 (2012) Inner Focus - Inner Focus prevents the Pokémon from flinching. However, Pokémon with this Ability can still flinch to a Pokémon with Mold Breaker, Teravolt or Turboblaze. Reckless - Reckless increases the base power of moves which cause recoil or crash damage by 20%, except Struggle. C'ayizme Nunh Pyroar, the Royal Pokémon Type: Fire / Normal Ability: Rivalry (Hidden: Moxie) Nature: Brave The male with the largest mane of fire is the leader of the pride. - X (2013) With fiery breath of more than 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, they viciously threaten any challenger. The females protect the pride’s cubs. - Y (2013) (I have this one as well!) Rivalry - When using a move, Rivalry raises the power of the move by 25% if the target and the Pokémon with this Ability have the same gender, but reduces base power by 25% if the target and the Pokémon with this Ability have opposite genders. If the Pokémon with this Ability or the target is genderless, the move's power is unaffected. Moxie - When a Pokémon with Moxie causes another Pokémon (including allies) to faint through direct damage, its Attack rises by one stage. Moxie will not be activated by indirect damage, such as through Sandstorm or an item like Rocky Helmet. Ilakha Moks Comfey, the Posy Picker Pokémon Type: Fairy Ability: Triage (Hidden: Natural Cure) Nature: Mild It attaches flowers to its highly nutritious vine. This revitalizes the flowers, and they give off an aromatic scent. - Sun (2016) Baths prepared with the flowers from its vine have a relaxing effect, so this Pokémon is a hit with many people. - Moon (2016) (Got this, too! Can't wait for Ultra versions!) Triage - Triage increases the priority of moves that restore HP used by the Pokémon with this Ability by 3, including both damaging moves and status moves. Hidden Cure - Natural Cure heals any status conditions upon switching out or completing a battle (if it was in battle at the end of the battle). Altantsetseg Torgud Bisharp, the Sword Blade Pokémon Type: Dark / Steel Ability: Defiant (Hidden: Pressure) Nature: Serious Bisharp pursues prey in the company of a large group of Pawniard. Then Bisharp finishes off the prey. - White (2010) This pitiless Pokémon commands a group of Pawniard to hound prey into immobility. It then moves in to finish the prey off. - Black 2 & White 2 (2012) Defiant - When a stat of a Pokémon with this Ability is lowered by an opponent, its Attack is increased by two stages. Pressure - When a Pokémon with Pressure is targeted by a foe's move, one additional PP is deducted upon execution. Consequently, extra PP is deducted even if the foe's move misses, has multiple targets, or is rendered ineffective due to immunity. Pressure applies to allies targeting the Pokémon.
