  1. Only in spirit. Thanks for the welcoming, everyone.
  2. Greetings to one and all! Longtime roleplayer from other MMOs (as well as from tabletops and forums) and looking to delve into the FF14 community. To be honest, I was looking for a while back when I first started- but it seemed like most of the activity was isolated in servers that were restricting character creation. It turned me off of the idea for awhile, and off the game itself for some time- but I just recently made my way back with the introduction of Stormblood. Figured that I'd give the RP scene in this game another shot and see what fruit it bore. As for servers- I'm fairly flexible when it comes to it. I haven't really delved too far into leveling (just got my main to 50 after some time- most of which spent away from the game), so I wouldn't be adverse to packing up and relocating since most of the players I used to partner with have dropped the game. Now keep in mind, I might be rusty on lore, so any community that can tolerate me tempering myself too it would be appreciated. However, with the land being Ivalice- it excites me to learn more about it (since my favorite FF game to date is Tactics). Roleplay wise, I've had a fair bit of experience. Between roleplaying since BC in WoW, roaming the Old World in Warhammer Online, and dabbling in multiple forum venues of different settings and content, safe to say I have the concept well in grasp- but that does not mean I don't have more to learn. I look forward to tagging along to see how things are done in this alien venue just for the chance to learn. Sincerely, Vex
  3. Got two more to add to the roster. Velios Moznnia and Horskeyn Syhrwargsyn. We just recently rolled on the server and were looking for an rp community here. Haven't gotten to far, but are currently researching the lore and ironing out character details.
  4. After making waves with my original posts, I think it would be proper to actually introduce myself. My name is Austin, though several people call me Vex/Vexus (due to a name I use often in games). I'm a 24 year old father of 2 (one boy, one girl with MD) and I currently work in computer repairs. I've been an avid RPer since I found rp gateway when I was 10, and have since rped in almost every MMO I've touched to date. Between being the paladin fallen from grace in WoW, to the mastermind behind a Sith task force. I've thoroughly enjoyed the rp I've been apart of and the friends I've made along the way, but ultimately the community of those games drove me into what I would call an early retirement, and have since not rped in a long time. But, here I am, hoping to make a comeback with a franchise that has been very near and dear to my heart (grew up with Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy 4). Thank you for your time.

    You are correct, Whisper.

    A sad day

I believe what I've said may have been taken in a manner that I was not expecting. By no means am I judging anyone who is having fun on their servers with this community, and encourage you to keep having fun. I wouldn't ask someone to drop their current community or say that you have 0 compassion at all. And what I said about the compassion remark wasn't a few bad apples spoil the bunch assumption. It was exactly as has been stated 'there is nothing we can do'. And you are 100% correct on that remark, it's up to square. I read through dozens of posts before making that last remark versus just putting it up there. I have no doubt alot of you feel bad that your fellow community members are split from you, and when gilgamesh and balmung open up, I have no doubt you will reunite with them with open arms. I did however mean what I said there was 0 support for an 3rd rp server. When in swotr, I quit a server who was losing it's population and rolled on another RP server. I left alot of guildmates behind, but we talked/communicated through forums and voip clients until most of them transfered when the transfers were free. The reception I got was, 'Have fun where you are, keep in touch and hopefully we see you again', not 'I'm sorry I can't get you here, just be patient and join later'. That being said, I believe I will be rolling on Faerie until gil and bal open up, and I am glad you guys are having a wonderful time with this game, and I encourage those who wish to join these high pop server: go make some new friends on a different server, await square's resolution, and just have fun. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, and wish you all the best. Thank you for your time.

    A sad day

I have to say (even though it's been my first day here) that reading through the forums in regards to a possible third server or the gilgamesh/balmung overpopulation issue, I'm kinda disheartened by what I see. "Well I'm having fun on Gilgamesh/Balmung, why aren't you? Oh, you can't create on the server? Not my problem." Seems to be the response/reasoning I get from those who are already on the server. And for those who can't, feel really left out and abandoned by the greater community. And yes, though those servers may free up shortly after launch or so- It'll mean that the involvement in the community and the character building between people will have been pretty much set, and fall into such clique-like attitudes that ultimately made me retire from WoW and SWTOR. Yes, we have the ability to band together on another server (which is why me and a buddy will be checking out Behemoth/Faeire) but the fact of the matter is the greater community now seems even further out of their reach due to server caps and their own disposition. Don't get me wrong, I do not have the want or right to judge anyone, but I will say that I wish the greater community on this site was a little more supportive of their wayward compatriots. Once they expand the servers, or people start leaving Gil, I'd love to give it a shot, because I've been out of the RP game for a minute now and found this a perfect avenue to come back to it... But please, be a little bit more compassionate in your approach to others just looking for guidance on what to do. Soapbox away, thank you for your time.
