  1. Hey there! I think I've seen your character around before. If you're looking for connections or would like to get involved in some ongoing plots, I can certainly provide a venue for that! My FC recently retooled itself into an events and communications hub and from within I have my character Wemrys Quintos running a mercenary branch with a bunch of really cool people who are involved ICly. It doesn't require being in the FC either, just that you're willing to RP and you'd like to attend events. Let me know if you're interested and I can throw you a PM with the info! And to address a less event centered level, I'm always looking for new contacts on Wem as well!
  2. Additional information has now been posted about our vendors, performances, and schedule for the faire! The post can be viewed here! We look forward to seeing folks there!
  3. Please note we are currently looking for vendors and participants for events! Please get in touch with either myself or Llinos via discord or look for us in game: Kuzhuk Anchin (Discord: Wemrys#7268) or Llinos Silvernail (Discord: Llinos#2108)
  4. WHERE: Beach near Seagaze Markets (Ward 1, Mist) | WHEN: 7th evening bell of the 18th Sun of the First Umbral Moon (Feb. 16th, 7PM EST) To volunteer as a vendor or event participant, feel free to join our event Discord (https://discord.gg/QaU4UBc) or contact me at Llinos#2108 The Lunar New Year begins on Menphina’s Moon. While the Domans have their own traditions, Lord Kopel Arupel and his mother, the Dowager Lady Kikio Kio of Ul'dah, have had their own tradition of bringing in the New Year proper, particularly when it falls within Menphina's moon. And now, their adopted ward, the Lady Silvernail, would like to open the festivities for all to partake. Though like many Ul'dahns they send their prayers to Nald'thal for guidance in financial acuity and in reverence of life and death, for their daily lives they turn to the Goddess Menphina to guide all that they put their hearts into. It is not how you live, it is what you live for. The phoenix, too, with its symbol of rebirth and renewal has come to play an important part in starting anew, particularly for Lady Silvernail who carries a silver phoenix feather in her family’s crest. Her family has taken to calling this celebration Phoenixfaire. Menphina's icy rays and the phoenix's flame will blend together and christen the new beginning to pour one’s heart into. One, this Ul'dahn family believes, that will either lead to new passions or stronger ones. Attire is to be beachwear or light clothing in fiery or icy tones. Events – Starting at 7:30 PM EST Seeking Participants - Contact Kuzhuk Anchin (Discord: Wemrys#7268) or Llinos Silvernail (Discord: Llinos#2108) THE WANDERER’S CHAMPION: Taking staff in hand, balance on a beam above the water and face off against your opponent until one stands and the other is thrown to the waves. Winner shall receive a jeweled staff, marking them as the Wanderer’s Champion (in character item only) and 300k in gil (in game reward). Ten participants. See more info below for how to play. THE LOVER’S TIDE: It is Menphina who controls the ebb and flow of the tides. Do you have the perseverance of heart to weather them, or will you fall into their icy embrace stronger for the attempt? Contestants will balance on boards provided by Lady Silvernail with their backs to the ocean and meet the tide that rolls in until only one is left standing. The winner shall receive a string of pearls to wear, marking them with Menphina’s favor (in character item only) and 300k in gil (in game reward). Fifteen participants. See more info below for how to play. Vendors and more! Seeking Volunteers - Contact Kuzhuk Anchin (Discord: Wemrys#7268) or Llinos Silvernail (Discord: Llinos#2108) HOROSCOPE, FORTUNE-READING & SMOKE SCRYING: We’re seeking volunteers who can provide insight into the new year! Have a talent for divination? Please feel free to apply and set up a booth. If you’ve charms, wards and the like, feel free to offer your wares here! Lady Silvernail will be offering her own services in reading horoscopes and smoke scrying. (If you’ve an outcome you desire OOCly for any plots you may have, please whisper the person doing the reading so they can be aware to assist you!) FOOD & ENTERTAINMENT: We’re seeking vendors to serve Phoenixfaire-themed dishes – a range of spicy and cold treats. As well as serve the traditional drink of Homemade Plum Brandy, supplied by Lady Silvernail. Distilled plums grown in the mountain regions of Aldenard are mixed with anise, honey, sour cherries and walnuts and stored in an oak barrel to give it a golden color and earthen aroma. It comes from a family recipe in Gyr Abania, a traditional drink for special occasions. One is supposed to share this drink with another, sharing your wishes for the new year until the cup is emptied and then smash the cup on the rocks for good health and fortune. The more fragments, the luckier! We’re also seeking any available entertainment for the festival. Bards, performers of all kinds are welcome so long as their performance is family-friendly. Performers are free to wander freely throughout the faire informally or may schedule a time to perform. FIREWORKS, FLOWER STALLS & FESTIVE TRINKETS: It would hardly be a proper Phoenixfaire without fireworks. We’re looking for vendors who will sell fireworks for festival-goers to light up the sky. (It will be up to the vendors whether they carry in-game items, after all we only have so much inventory space.) If you’re a merchant with wares that would make excellent souvenirs, feel free to contact us for setting up a booth. We’re also looking for merchants willing to sell flowers of varying colors and types for festival-goers to give as gifts. Flowers can serve as a gesture or token of good will and well-wishes, as each shade carries its own meaning. (Again, it will be up to the vendors whether they carry in-game items, after all we only have so much inventory space.) Pink – Sweetness or Gratitude Red – Love, Romance, Beauty or Devotion Orange – Enthusiasm, Zest & Zeal Yellow – Friendship, Joy or Well-Wishes Green – Good Health & Prosperity. Blue – The desire for the unattainable, a fight against impossible odds, a symbol of one’s personal quest. Purple – Enchantment, love at first sight or admiration from afar. Black – Every ending is a new beginning. White – Purity, Spirituality, Virtue & Honor. WANDERER’S CHAMPION: Two people will walk up to the designated 'elevated beam' at time. This beam is narrow, but your character would be able to balance themselves comfortably on it. For each round, the two opposing players will roll and whoever rolls the highest gains an advantage that round - meaning you can emote getting a hit in, the other character emotes being staggered. This continues until one gets the best TWO OUT OF THREE, whoever has scored the most hits is left standing the other most emote falling off. All winners will face off against each other and so on until one is left. In the event two people roll the same number, they will simply re-roll. LOVER’S TIDE: This game will be held at the shoreline, backs to the ocean as it rolls in. Each participant will be balanced on a wakeboard. Each 'round' the judge will call out a DC you have to pass. For instance, the first round will start with a DC of 100. Everyone will roll. Those that do not roll 100 or higher, will emote losing their balance, falling into the chill waters and are out. The second round will be a DC of 300. The third round will be 500. And all other rounds will remain at 500 until there is one winner afloat. In the event of ties, we keep going until the tie breaks. In the event everyone fails the DC check, the winner is the highest roller.
  5. I believe the last bit is a typo. "Owning a room or an apartment" makes more sense since it refers to private chambers (i.e. a room) and apartments separately. As for your first question...that what it's seeming like. It makes perfect sense for them to do that as an extra precaution against people with multiple alts on the same account starting up new FCs just to buy houses. This is how house flippers on big FCs with loads of funds would get their hands on so many houses...they'd buddy up and build shell FCs up just to buy up land. With this restriction in place it requires a whole new account to do the same thing which means rebuying the game, starting a sub, etc or trusting someone not in your group to do the same thing for you.
  6. To provide an update: We have now had two extremely successful community events first with Chrysanthemum and now with the Moon Viewing which is just wrapping up as I type this! We want to thank everyone who has helped us get this far and especially our members who have joined and supported us in our endeavors. Please be on the lookout for more from us in the future!
  7. Just an update, we're nearing our deadline for people to sign up as contestants for the Fashion & Poetry contest! We need at the very least two more contestants! Please don't hesitate to respond here or get into contact with us!
  8. Oh no I'm sorry! I didn't mean that toward you specifically. I was speaking more in general terms, I should have been more clear about that.
  9. As I've stated on other threads like this...the most efficient thing to do is to make the most of the situation. We're in a gated community right now and those of us who have no intention of transferring off either stayed up super late a number of nights in a row or paid the money to get our character(s) on the server. If we keep to ourselves and not make the most of being here, then what was the point? Attend community events, open yourself up to new experiences with other RPers, meet new people, start new stories, build new RPs. On a server with 15k+ people on it, it's impossible to have met them all, no matter how long you've been around. If we're a gated community, it's time to get to know our neighbors and have as much fun as we can...then when the floodgates open once again we're all well-equipped and prepared to meet and greet even MORE new people. If you're staying around here, you can't lose with that formula. You just need to get out there and RP more, take more risks, be less shy. It's hard I know because I can be pretty shy at times, but it really is awesome getting to know new folks and getting RPs started.
  10. No worries! It's just a mild misunderstanding of tone. #InternetTextDiscussionProblems
  11. To be clear I wasn't criticizing the event. Mostly just stating the viewpoint in how I saw it compared to Zhu's post. I felt that the compromise between written Steppe lore and how it worked nicely due to being close to Reunion worked well. I had a good time overall and honestly would not have asked for anything to change because it could be easily justified in a myriad of ways is mostly my point here. My character had his view on why it worked the way it did, I'm sure other characters did too. 10/10 indeed.
  12. First off I want to say it was a neat event. I'm glad more folks are picking up on Othardian customs in general and using them for events and I'd love to see more. Heck my FC would be glad to do something similar as well given we've been doing some Othardian styled events (see Chrysanthemum Festival and the upcoming Moon Viewing). I may not have had a hand in organizing this but I do get where you're coming from here. I got the sense that if we're going to include non-xaela in an event like this, the Steppe while thematically appropriate is not the best place for it to be done due to the lore clash. Granted it was done right outside of Reunion so it could be said that it was approved by the Qestir as an event under their rules and tolerance for outsiders so on the other hand the event works as is. This creates the question of if they or anyone else were to run such an event on Eorzean soil would it have as much participation from the xaela players whose characters might be Steppe-bound? Would this essentially create the same problem in the opposite sense? (i.e. "why run a xaela centered event outside of the Steppe?") There needs to be a compromise somewhere in the middle...I know when my FC runs Doman styled events it's done in Eorzea with the idea of "bringing the Far East to the West" as a sort of culture trade. That logic applied to last night's event, my character explained that perhaps the whole reason outsiders not being run off of the Steppe by native Steppe-dwellers was because foreign trade was picking up and the xaela while still being very wary of outsiders WOULD like access to foreign steel to give them an edge in combat.
  13. Probably should have written this yesterday but I want to thank everyone who came by and participated in everything we had to offer! I also want to thank everyone who entertained, everyone who provided merchant stalls, all our priests/priestesses, and participants in the kyudo contest! It made for an amazing night overall and we're extremely happy to have had it been a success.
  14. Only a couple days left until the Festival! We're still needing people for archery so please let us know if you'd like to take part. Also, a big thank you to the Crystal Chronicle for featuring it/our FC in their latest edition! We really appreciate it!
  15. As we get closer to this event going on just a reminder that we'd love to get at the very least 3 more people in for the archery contest. If we could get 8 though that would be perfect to get all of the groups filled! We are also still accepting anyone who would like to be have a booth or provide work as a priest/shaman/other relevant clergy.
