  1. Small update regarding the linkshells and club page. The RP Network linkshell has been renamed to Omega RP Network to identify what server it is on, and the cross-world linkshell, Chaos RP Network, has been renamed to Chaos DC RP Network, DC standing for Data Center, and remains open. Please see the club page in the original post or check out the discord for more info. https://discord.gg/9HjDKkC
  2. If there was a way for Source characters to travel to the First, that would make the entire story behind the Exarch summoning you pointless. All other methods seem to be theoretically possible but for the WoL/Scions only. Gilgamesh is a world hopper, that's his thing, so that wouldn't surprise me. Pixies appear in people's dreams to give them a message, so I'm not sure where people think they can use them as transportation. Random portals? Again would destroy the Exarch story. When there is mention that you aren't the first traveller, they means the Scions that have been summoned, it's been 5 years since one first came over. Not trying to step on anyone's toes, it's just something that I don't think is possible at all for Source characters (or even First to Source, unless you die and have an Ascian to bring you over, good luck with that) without destroying the writing already in place. A First native seems the best way forward, even if it's an alternate universe character who's name or appearance can just be a coincidence, but who is going to know, really?
  3. Hey there! If you haven't already, I'd recommend joining the Chaos datacenter RP Discord, there's a lot of FCs posted there that aren't on this website. Here's an invite link: https://discord.gg/9HjDKkC
  4. World Visit is now live within the game, another reminder that Omega (or Chaos) is still a thing and our cross-world linkshell couldn't be more relevant. Please take the time to read the original post for more info on how to get involved with the community on this side of the water!
  5. I'd say the Omega RP scene has been doing well. Obviously smaller in number compared to Mateus/Balmung due to it being EU, we just have a very quiet presence on the website which can give the wrong impression. Besides that, I don't think there is absolutely any need for another EU RP server when the one we have currently still has plenty of room.
  6. Just a quick update regarding recent changes to the Discord: To reflect on the upcoming World Visit system, our Discord has been renamed to FFXIV Chaos Roleplayers Coalition. The Chaos datacenter will be treated as the unofficial EU RP datacenter, while Omega will be the home server or most active for it. Addition to this, we have a cross-world linkshell and a club page with all the information you need, please feel free to check it out below.
  7. Hi there! Really sorry for the late reply. I've tried adding you on discord but the name doesn't seem to work. Has it changed since your last message? I'll be more active on checking updates to this club once the world visit system is in place, and begin promotion of the cross-world linkshell.
  8. Sorry if this sounds like it's beating a dead horse, but I also wanted to give my thoughts on this. Out of the MMOs I've played RPed in the past 10 years (WoW, LotRO, SWTOR, ESO), at least on the EU side of things, I can safely say RP isn't *dead* but it has changed and varies with different communities. I can't speak for other people but I'm going solely off of my own experience. To put it bluntly, I feel housing (or private safe zones) is killing/replacing open world RP. While it may be unfair to compare to the likes of WoW, that game doesn't have housing and there are always RPers in Stormwind. However the game has a much larger player base and a more open-world feel, less loading screens and instances. LotRO, while also has housing, there is always a healthy amount of people RPing in the likes of Bree every day. SWTOR today, seems everyone has retreated to guild ships and there's 10 or so RPers (mostly Imperial) who hang out at a cantina on Nar Shaddaa. ESO, the only place I know people RP in outside of housing is a tavern in Wayrest, DC area. FFXIV had a different start when it comes to US and EU locations, as EU didn't really get an unofficial RP server until last year, and most EU players had already settled on Balmung. And we are still trying to push for an open world hub on Omega, much like Quicksand and a place other MMOs have. So far we only have a weekly gathering, rather than a daily compared to other places. Maybe I'm getting old, maybe RP has changed, but I do die a little inside when someone asks "what are the RP hubs?" and answered with "housing location <pos>". Yes I know some people prefer housing, having their own creativity, safe zone, you name it. But it does hurt the open public approach some of us may be used to. Finding RP through word of mouth may also sound easy but again it makes it harder for people used to walking in to a place knowing there'll be RP. I haven't counted what FCs/Guilds get up to, either, or the busy times of the year. If you aren't in an FC, you probably don't know about the numerous RP events happening. Some are even in the open world, but likely private. So while RPing outside of housing does happen, again it could be private meaning if you see it you can't just walk into it. TLDR: RP as a whole isn't dying, but to me it feels like it's changed and replacing potential. I'm pretty known as an anti-housing guy, but it's often misunderstood. I like housing, I like the creativity and effort people put into it. I just don't want to see it becoming the replacement for the rest of the game's world we play in. People have often gone to me, "we know you don't like taverns, so we're turning our houses into something else" and that's not what I'm saying at all Imagine going into one of the Adventurers' Guilds and seeing a notice, "Come to our Adventuring Guild in the Mist" or "Come to our tavern in the Goblet", maaaaaybe that's not the right place to put that kind of flyer unless you want the establishment to run out of business? Alright, that's a little nitpick on IC noticeboards. My point is, what I think could be potential for a hub is replaced by player housing. I am *well* aware that some players prefer safe zones with no trolls. Back in my day (oh look how old I sound now), we didn't rely on player housing for RP. Not trying to rant or cause an argument, just wanted to give my thoughts based on my own experience. Quick edit: When it comes to Balmung, I haven't been back there for a year. Before I left it was slowly starting to become harder to find walk-up RP. I remember when Quicksand had no RP at all, until a few of us started meeting up there during early 2.0 days. Then it became a place of RP every day, and then the ERP/trolls started to gather. This is also coming from someone who only has time to RP in EU timezone, there are way more during US hours and I never got the chance to bump into any during their peak time.
  9. Every Sunday on Omega, RP can be found at Ul'dah's local Adventurers' Guild. This gives characters a chance to unwind and interact after, or even before, a hard day's work in the Hydaelyn lifestyle. What is an "Adventurers' Guild"? It's a place where adventurers gather to find work, offer work, drink, eat, sleep, socialise, play cards, play music. There's a ton of activities players can create! There's more than one guild, too. Limsa Lominsa has one, and Gridania has one. But is it only for adventurers? Nonsense. It's just a reliable source of income for then. Anyone is welcome there, really. There is also the chance other event creators might use the hub to host their own thing, which is totally fine! The intent for this event is to let players know there is a place to RP, meaning you don't always need the host to be there. It's a public place, just turn up! And if you're feeling peckish, volunteer to take people on leves or hunts, form a group of friends and go on an adventure. So come on down to Omega's open world hub, The Quicksand! Players usually start gathering around 7:00PM server time, though they are all free to RP there any time or day of the week. Don't forget to slap on your RP tag (/roleplaying) so players know you are in character and approachable! ((Previously, The Drowning Wench in Limsa was the weekly Sunday event. After doing a strawpoll, many favoured the Quicksand as the place to go, since many players from other servers are used to it being the go-to-hub. Hopefully this can also become the main hub.))

  12. Yeah I was actually thinking in the drop down parts would be a good start I wouldn't know where else at the moment.
  13. Hey there. I was wondering if the officially designated unofficial RP servers could be made a little more clearer? For example, Balmung (NA), Mateus (NA), Omega (EU), etc? To help new folks find the right server for them. It's a little difficult when you need to browse clubs or threads to see if anyone mentions "Oh yes this is the big server on NA" or "Yes we're EU on Balmung NA", if you get me. Of course people should just open up their server list in game and match, but looking at the website without the game open, I wouldn't know what to pick and there's probably a lot of people who have already asked with others suggesting "yes go to balmung/mateus" without discussing timezone and ping preferences.

Created by you, for you. Every Friday and Sunday of the week throughout February, RP can be found at one of the three Adventurers' Guilds. You don't need to wait for anyone to host anything, just turn up with your RP tag on and go with the flow. There is also no specific time to be there, show up all day if you must, but I will put a time anyway just in case. This is to help Roleplayers get out and about in the open world instead of always locked behind houses, and for new Roleplayers to join the game and see there is RP to be found. All times are at 7PM GMT Throughout the month: Sunday 28th January - The Drowning Wrench (Limsa) Friday 2nd - The Carline Canopy (Gridania) Sunday 4th - The Quicksand (Ul'dah) Friday 9th - The Drowning Wrench (Limsa) Sunday 11th - The Carline Canopy (Gridania) Friday 16th - The Quicksand (Ul'dah) Sunday 18th - The Drowning Wrench (Limsa) Friday 23rd - The Carline Canopy (Gridania) Sunday 25th - The Quicksand (Ul'dah) Starting from March, this will be limited to one of the Adventure Guilds per week, like Quicksand Fridays or Drowning Sundays, depends what is popular this month. If you have any questions, please poke me ingame (Flynn Rosenberg) or join the EU RP Discord server below.
