  1. I'd imagine it all comes down to the fact if the airship was designed to land on water or not. Too simple? Maaybe. But I'd say there exists crazier things in FFXIV world/s than that. Actually, character idea for airship engineer/designer who wants to develop ship/airship hybrids seems pretty neat! Fun general FF fact: Enterprise in FFIII was ship modified into airship, and it could only land on water. So, this is not in any way unheard idea in FF games, and I think it could fit into world of FFXIV neatly. Off-topic bonus: This thread just makes me think of this one short rhyme I loved as kid, because it was funny and kids like weird things. Goes in Finnish like this; ”Haltija se teki laivan sellaisen, että maata se kulki ja ilmaa ja vettä.” (Translation: Haltija (fae, basically, in finnish folklore) created boat like that, which traveled the land and the air and water.)
  2. Im on mobile so weird grammar incoming. Also Im just nothing exceptional with lore, so just opinions here. Always comprehended that maybe some incest was natural byproduct of such system as the catpeople have in place. Quote from ffwiki: At any time in their lives, a tia can challenge the tribe nunh to battle. If the tia is victorious, he takes the nunh's place as tribe breeding male (until he is challenged and defeated), and the nunh becomes a tia once again (if he survives the ordeal). The same system however seems to me to encourage potentially pretty regularly happening shifting of nunh/s. Also nothing seems to me to stop tia from tribe A traveling to tribe B and kicking the local nunh's butt, moving the genes around that way. Quote from ffwiki: Depending on its size, a tribe may have multiple nunh (a ratio of one nunh per ten to fifty females is average). Quote from ffwiki: There is only one other way a tia can become a nunh, and that is to leave his tribe, and start his own. This, requires several females to accomplish, and most female Seekers of the Sun are rarely impressed by a male who cannot defeat a nunh. Quote from ffwiki: These tribes tend to die out due to the aforementioned lack of women. Those three quotes leave me thinking that daring tias trying to get their own tribes going is not hyper rare, which means that there is also some females at any time willing to join such smaller tribes, though in insufficient numbers to guarantee the longevity of the new tribe, usually. On the other hand it still seems like rarely that sort of tribes formed by tia will do just fine. As in, not an impossibility.
  3. Hi! I am looking for new writing company for off-game FFXIV RP on Discord. I play the game on PS, and my keyboards keep on self-destructing, so in-game RP never seemed sensible choice for me as additionally when thinking with my feet I just have two left feet. I have roleplayed on Skype and Discord for the last 10 years, loving it, and I would just love to do something interactive and roleplaylike with my FFXIV characters on my current main RP platform in Discord. ...So, plsplspls god, if this is something you are looking for too, let's say hi to each other, omg I am starving... This will get wordy, not because I'd be always irritatingly wordy but because I do want to reveal my full hand and most of my quirks as roleplayer, which may or may not become topical. I. Basic Info Characters: Ikaruga Kurai & Jitah'li Habhoka; Though characters bearing the names exists on Chaos DC and are indeed owned by me (Ikaruga being my current raiding main), for casual in game purposes I fully intend to just Fantasia that one character, Ika on Ragnarok, to match the appearance of the character most appropriate to those purposes. I am not interested in in-game RP, but I am free and enthusiastic to meet any prospective RP partner in-game OOC if we so agree; running dungeon, running raid, climbing Kugane tower, taking screenshots - like, skybox is the limit. Little friendliness never made worse roleplays. Primary character: The one I succeed in getting tangled into any meaningful story at all, to be honest... Linkshells: - Primary RP linkshell: - II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Light-medium. Or just right amount to guarantee Good Time™. This is creative, fun hobby and I have too long history with it to whip myself over every little thing. For reference: some samples of my previous RP threads in their raw and unedited glory. CLICK Views on RP combat and injuries: I am story fanatic, as in the story is what I am addicted about in RP. I am not interested punishing mine or anyone's characters with little rhyme or reason to it. But well set fight scene, or daring duel, or chase out of danger's way? Well, don't leave me out. And do not let my characters get out without little scars onto their skin or mind, or both. I'm not afraid to leave my characters lose, a lot. But I promise that they'll put on losing fight with gusto. Views on IC romance: I approve; the sugar of romance compliments the salt of the danger and anxiety very nicely. My characters have no set strict orientation. When it comes to RP I think the chemistry and compatibility between personalities is more important than if they are guys or girls or both or neither. Love is love. I think plotting romantic tension, if that is something both parties want, is fun way to lay some groundwork for the upcoming RP even before the writing begins. I write ERP too, but not as stand-alone self-satisfactory titillation + it is not any way something I must have. Fade-to-black and sexlessness is equally good route. If all that is there, it's gotta be part of the story; like with aggression and violence in RP, I do not much like erotica and sensuality just randomly be there for the sake of it itself. I am hopeless fujoshi, so there is that, I guess But none of my guy characters are exclusively gay, as stated. In such pairing they might have top tendency, or faux sore loser tendency. And most importantly; ladies are welcomed and embraced in this romance scenario business, equally! Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I approve; familial relationships, antagonistic relationships, uncertain connections - potential is right there and it is awesome. I am staunchly pro-plotting as I do not think it takes anything away from the writing itself. And when I talk about plotting I mean some general "but then happened or might happen!" flavored guidelines. If it cannot be bend or break if something better comes by, it was likely not very fun plot to begin with. I am interested in miqo'tes and au ras being, well, miqo'tes and au ras together. So any culturally/behaviorally cat people things for Jitah'li and any xaela centric socialization for Ika are shamelessly sought out by me, but naturally those are not only kind of encounters I wish for, because the characters itself are not that weirdly insular/in-group focused. Views on lore: Imagination is more important than knowledge, but let's play by it. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): - III. Other Info Country: Finland Languages: Finnish; native, English; just trying my damned best with it, with wavering confidence in my own text. 4. Maybe that is discussion for another thread, maybe. But I wholly agree that it helps when you know something about the thing you are going to put into your character, e.g. being trans. Like the opening suggested. Would not have immersed myself into mongolian/central asian culture hard for months if I did not believe that. But I do not necessarily think you need to be X in order to write about X well. Stuff like cultural background or gender are not part of your personality, though they can be very close to it, so they should be easier to research, at least the basics. I don't have transcharacters, but one of my rp besties does. I rp that transcharacters SO. Lovely characters Her character did not start as trans, but my character took the "coming out" kinda admirably. Considering I always saw my character having "being a bit of a bigot" among his character flaws. But! He had went and grown out of that character flaw without me even noticing.

I'm Discord/maybe Forum preferring person as well. It's little frustrating that we who prefer RP this way have apparently little hard time finding each other I have had some FFxiv rp action on Discord with my multi-fandom writing buddy, but she has fallen into quite the horrible writing slump "lately" (over year now...), so that thread is on hold. I have been thinking that maybe agreeing to do sort of "session 0" with any new rp acquaintance would be worth it? Like, before you make vague yet ambitious plans to write 100,000 word epic. See how your narrative styles and posting frequency matches.
  6. What about, say, women (just cis women I guess) roleplaying men (cis men)? Men roleplaying women? 21th century person roleplaying 3rd century person?
  7. I would be interested in This too, because of PS4 player and just generally interested in roleplaying on Discord rather than in-game. Nothing against meeting in game and running content, even trying something small and sweet rp-wise in game, for me Discord is just matter of preference in platform and style. I used to see people looking for Discord RP in Chaos RP server, but that was looong ago and when I inquired about current etiquette about this from the selfsame server sometime ago the reply was most polite "nope".
  8. ^ I guess this says it the best. 1) Got killer character idea for whom the any GSRM identity is just the perfect fit? Well just do it, seem lore friendly. 2) I choose to view ERP+fetishs little more leniently. As in, there is worse ways to explore your sexuality than writing roleplay with other consenting adult person, just saying. Perverts will make fetish out of anything. And there is a little pervert inside most of us. 3) If you manage to find fellow roleplayer who unfortunately is mean and hateful towards your GSRM character because of their GSRM status... you probably won't end up roleplaying to begin with. So this should be problem that weeds itself out. Blacklist is right there.
  9. It sounds pretty killer advice to "not make plans/too specific plans, because you maybe trap yourself into rebuilding your character from ground up because you cannot sleep anymore because your rp character is not lore accurate". If you are crafty writer, and cannot wait for to start putting together your viera, then knock yourself out BY MAKING PLANS you can easily adjust to the final product because your plans were satisfying but vague in the first place. More general the root idea, more easy it is to adjust. Hingan viera may be simple idea, but... perfectly general it is not. Just saying, and my prayer to all the brave roleplayers who have come up with some, small, oscure and GUTSY miqo'te tribes, who traveled to Doma few or more than few generations ago... and now they are bonafide Doman miqo'tes, dammit. (I'm preparing to pray for all the vieras, who left Dalmasca and hoppen on boat and came to Hingashi... anything between yesterday and ten generations ago.) As with Au Ra, I don't think SE is going to add Viera NPCs here and there to retcon them visibly "always having lived in Eorzea or Doma or whatever!". (Though... well, pc can be whatever race and at the beginning of the game ARR you appears from thin air , traveling to the starting city. I don't think it's bad loophole to validate your character living in Eorzea, at least, but as always don't abuse loopholes.) And, in the end, only people who are going to care of your character being lore accurate are the people you are going to rp with. Thinking that way always soothes my mind.
  10. I'm animetrash who only creates cat and lizard characters. I'll welcome bunnies!! I too know people with premade characters (for potentially sweet event stuff) to maybe fanta them into viera is the race is ever introduced. ...Ok, I have other characters, and maybe I'm not that big of an animetrash after all, but I'd still welcome bunnies. Oh, but the person pointing out that high-heels explanation is BS? 110% right.
  11. V'arekai used to have bit of an alcohol problem... with cheap and potentially super shady homemade stuff you can likely find from those sad refugee slums outside Ul'dah. I mean, it is probably significant stroke of luck that he isn't blind... or dead. Err, but hey, he was pretty depressed... and total fucking idiot at that point of his life. Bad choices... I can only imagine him as this... super awkward and silent and nigh catatonic thing while intoxicated. At least, at the height of his depression. Nowadays he simply avoids drinking too much. Tricking him into drinking too much makes him just vomit, I think, as silently and awkwardly as possible.
  12. One of my character's is holding onto one MiB white whittret, because I got idea that when he finds some love, that perfect person should have white whittret as pet so my character can get annoyed by it :'D (Let's just call it weirdest kind of engagement ring.)
  13. V'arekai: What do you call erroneous convicted case whose prison just burned to the ground?
  14. V'arekai leeches his SO's family fortune. Oh, but no worries! If he wasn't so questionably lucky, he probably could look for job as blacksmith. And, well, if he would find employer, I'm afraid he would be just stupidly happy about it, because working metal is still his super mega dream job! I guess there isn't task too rudimentary for him. Make him forge nails or something, hundreds of them even and he is wayyy too happy about it.
