Hello all~ As the title states, I'm new to rp on FFXIV and am hoping to get into it. I've tried to rp on other MMOs, main WoW, but just couldnt really find it enjoyable. But! I love FFXIV more than WoW. I do have some other characters that aren't RP characters and have been playing for about 2 months. Me and two of my friends have decided to try out RPing. I just.......don't know where to start lol. I have some character ideas. One is a old DnD character that I never really got to play name Marigold Vexx. She would more than likely be a Hyur Red Mage since she was a Bladesinger in the game. But I also kind of want to do with something with my friends. Does anyone have tips or suggestions on how to get started after character creation? We are looking to make our characters on the Mateus server. Thanks a bunch!

I can't login anymore! What happened? There are a couple things that might've happened here. You had multiple accounts on RPC that used the same email. Anyone who had multiple accounts on RPC with the same email will find that the new email-based accounts here have merged all their secondary accounts. Which every account was oldest was the one that was made primary. You may need to reset your password! You registered after our final save. We were able to snapshot data from February 11, around 11AM-12PM. If you registered after this date, your account was not carried over. Please re-register. Is it just me or does the site crash or go offline a lot? It's not you. It's me. I've been working on tweaking the server config for performance and features and have to restart servers now and then. Occasionally I break something to x_x The old site is gone! What happened to my posts? All content should have been migrated, however there may be some formatting issues that the converter couldn't catch. During the conversion from our MyBB site, avatars were not carried over due to a limitation in the converter tools. RPC staff can help you retrieve an image if you'd like to reupload it for use again. I was a patron on RPC but it doesn't show any more. What gives? Let Unnamed Mercenary know in a PM, chat message, or some other mean. I'll cross-reference from the old site and get your name updated! Chances are, you had an older account that your patron name was merged into and that removed your group access. Why are my Linkshells and Free Company listings are missing? The new Linkshell Hall and Free Company Hall pages are built off InvisionPower's new "Clubs" feature. They allow users to make full sub-communities on the RPC! While we can't migrate a listing from the old halls directly, we can migrate your old list's thread into a club forum. What happened to my Gallery images? They aren't gone! We promise. RPC previously used a gallery software called Coppermine, with some delicate code that bridged the gallery to upload using your credentials. We've converted and transferred all images over to the new gallery, but we'll need to manually re-assign your uploads to you. We understand that this is not ideal and ask for your patience and understanding in the matter. If you'd like to help us out, you can send us a list of which photos were yours with links from the new gallery and we'll get the linked to you so they show up in your profile. The editor is quirky. Yes. Yes it is. If you're trying to make a line break, you can use HTML or shift-enter if you don't want paragraph block spacing.(The enter key is now a line break and not a paragraph.) For advanced users, you can technically edit fully in HTML. We use CKEditor now. If you want a certain plugin, we can try getting it integrated. I noticed a post that looks weird. There are BBCode or formatting issues. RPC's previous forum made use of a lot of custom and nonstandard BBCode. Users are encouraged to update their posts to make them pretty again. The new editor will access BBCode, but you cannot convert formatted text back into BBCode. Users are able to post with some basic HTML tags now, however! If you need any assistance, please contact the staff! Internal links will need to be manually updated. If you spot something that seems out of place, please report it. The theme is very...bright. We're working on making the theme easier on the eyes. If you have experience with Invision Power board themes, please contact Unnamed Mercenary. Users should be able to select an IPS4 Dark theme now as well. The css hasn't been check yet, but it should give a very simple black and blue appearance better for evening viewing. The site feels kinda slow. Are you sure it's better? The sluggish performance is partly to do with the migration procedures and shouldn't be permanent. (But may last until the server bill's paid again.) We used a lot of processing getting everything moved over and should build up speed as things are cached and stored away again. I keep getting asked if I want to allow notifications. Why is the site nagging me? It loves you. IPS keeps more active connections to the server to help update you on content faster. The new RPC site is excited to notify you about all sorts of things! Notification popups are handled by your browser. Most should give you an option to blacklist the RPC if you no longer want them. Did something go horribly wrong?! This is tricky. And to give a basic explanation, some of the webserver code might not have had a good time trying to process your request. We're working to tune the server config so that this doesn't happen. If you can provide details like what browser you were using, the page you were and, and what you were trying to to do, we can check to see if something happened at that time. So far, this most often appears when uploading larger images to the gallery. You can sometimes resume by reloading the page. Edit 2018/04/18: We've upgraded to IPS 4.3 - Technical Details Users can now make read-only club listings for the FC and LS halls. These are viewable to any, but require invite/membership to post. The Gallery now supports anyone-can-use albums. The general categories will now allow uploads if you don't want to make a personal album. Users who already have albums can adjust the settings.

Hi there! I'm new to the forum and new to FF RP. I play an Au Ra on Mateus named Toragana Daisho (she introduces herself as Daisho no Toragana), and I'm having a heck of a time nailing her background down. Specifically when it comes to birth place, customs, and culture. For reference, I'm including her WIP backstory so far and will ask questions from there. (And I have a lot questions. Oh boy.) Also, it's a bit cliche but it's a start: Would Kugane be the place for a person of her class/caste living under a liege lord? Would this be on Koshu? Is Shirogane part of Kugane? Would Doman people be in this part of the East? Should she just be Hingan? Is daimyo (daimya for the Lady) the correct term? The lord would be more a prominent merchant, maybe a lesser far distant relative of some house/lord claiming the title of bugyo, than anyone of true noble birth. What would be the proper term for his vassals? Plebs? His people? In regards to language: She speaks Doman fluently (it's her preferred language), knows Hingan, and muddles her way through Eorzean. However, are Hingan and Eorzean the same common language? I do not plan on dumping paragraphs of Japanese in her speech, but would it be acceptable to use simple words/phrases like "Hai," "Domo" (or "Arigato gozaimasu" for formal instances), or "Gomen'nasai" (or "Domo sumimasen" for formal instances) sprinkled as needed? Her classes are NIN, SAM, and ARC. I main NIN and assume she uses tanto blades as weapon of choice. She's not unskilled with katana, but is weak with a bow. Does it make sense she might be trained in the other two (not as a SAM per se, but at least for weapon proficiency)? I may have more questions, but they're more related to personality building rather than backstory building. I role-played her for the first time last night as part of the interview to get into the FC and I'm still trying to get to know her. Thank you for taking the time! I really want to get into RP, but I'm intimidated by the idea of writing a character before I've finished the game. There's so much lore I don't have access to. I'm afraid I'll mess up and look like an idiot. And even if I don't, I'm more used to writing characters to suit the RP than the other way around. With no idea of what to RP, I'm lost at both fronts. At the same time, I'd rather not spoil the MSQ for myself by reading the wiki for lore... I've already messed up a bit during character creation-- my main is an Au Ra with an Elezen name who worships Halone. Oops. Should I fanta/name change to make it more consistent, or try to write around it? If I fanta to Elezen, I'd mostly know the lore and it'd be consistent. But I really like how Au Ra look, and what little I've seen of their relations with other races seems like it'd be a fun conflict to write for. Changing to an Auri name would also be consistent, but I'd be mostly in the dark lore-wise and wouldn't really know how to write for it. As for trying to make my current mess make sense... would it be feasible to say she was adopted by Gridanians? The Garleans import their slaves for work in their outposts. Would it be plausible to say that her mother escaped from Castrum Oriens while pregnant, had her, and then gave her up for adoption to go back and help the resistance? That's the only way I can think of that an Au Ra would have an Elezen name and be generally ignorant of Othard/Doma. And searching for her birth mother would make a good motivation for an adventurer. I don't know. I'm just speculating based on limited information. Without too many spoilers, is my idea workable? (If it's not, a blunt "no" without game screenshots is fine. I don't need an explanation, I just don't want to make a fool of myself.) Should I just change my character into something easier to write? Thanks for reading. I can't figure out how to delete pages I started long ago for characters I no longer play. Anyone willing to point me in the right direction?

Hello. I have JUST set up an account here, bracing myself to finally open up the game after all those years of actually having it installed. The seemingly deathly task of actually starting my way after having created an actual character(s?) is absolutely mine to face, but I need to ask for advice from all you seniors about a different topic: what server should I pick? I don't have any friends playing and everything I've read about the specific rp servers contradicts itself. I would like to know what server would be: 1. Friendly for a COMPLETE newcomer to the game and the FF in general 2. Fairly accesible for an english-speaker living in Central EU 3. Filled with spontaneous rp and equally spontaneous roleplayers. Hello, I need your help/advice/anything you can offer. I’m going to give the tl;dr version of my situation first and go into more detail afterwards. Tl;dr: The gist of my situation is I am jealous of my RP partner because she’s roleplaying with someone else and I am now being mostly ignored. It makes me feel terrible and I don’t know how to stop feeling like this. My question is: how can i deal with this? Long version: Backtrack 6 months ago, i’m a normal player who barely dabbled in RP at a few D&D sessions. I’m a gamer through and through and that’s been my only past time for all my years. So I’m playing with 2 of my friends (these two are actually engaged to eachother IRL and are also my friends in IRL) and they decide at some point to change their character’s race. I thought i could join them in the fun since i’ve always played a male character in my games. So i went ahead and genderbent my character. Things were alright and we had fun together. Then one day one of these friends is attracted to my female character and starts flirting IC with her. It was awkward at first but i rolled with it and eventually i came to enjoy it. That was my first time RPing online. I've never done it before. We spent the past 6 months roleplaying our characters (4 to be exact) into a family together and we decided to marry 2 of them. We have everything ready for the wedding too we just need to set the date. We’ve always been talking during this period about our characters and what funny and sweet scenes we could put them through even outside of the game via Discord. She always called my toon "M'lady" and was very sweet the entire time we RPed. Sometime during these 6 months she discovered a roleplay server she liked and created a character there. Let’s call the server we’ve been on until now A and the roleplay server B. I joined her. Everything was fine until a bit over two weeks ago. When she stopped logging onto the A server and stopped replying even to our RP concerning the B server toons. I thought i should be polite and not pester her for an answer so i waited a week. Still nothing so i remind her. She brushes it off by telling me she’s busy. I knew she was RPing with the peeps on the B server which is fine because i’m not looking to be the only person she roleplays with. However after 6 months of investment into both our characters on A server i was expecting it would continue as it had until then. I keep getting hints that she’s distracted or that she’s not interested by her either giving me “bleh” replies, one liners, replying late or not replying at all. No more calling eachother wife or husband or lover or "M'lady" as we used to. No more of her toon dutifully offering me to get on the 2 seated chocobo mount. No more of her telling me that her heart can’t handle the cuteness of our characters as she used to. She’s got a sweetheart on the B server now and even though we had decided our characters would be together even there (in an open relationship) she pushed my character away to be with that person only. She says it’s because i’m not online on B server as much that this happened. Alright, fine. I can understand that. Even though i hated it, I RPed a very dramatic breakup scene with her thinking we still had our RP on A server. I came to her with a scene to RP for those characters. She told me she didn’t want to RP that scene. Alright. Then i asked her about the wedding we were supposed to have and if she still wants it. She said yes, but when i asked about when to set the date she told me she can’t talk now because she was RPing with someone else. Note that this has never stopped her before. I ask her once again the next day and she just says she doesn’t know and shows little to no signs of wanting us to decide together. Today, just a bit earlier from me writting this we went to the Chapel to set up the date for the marriage. Whenever we planned for the wedding she was always there at the Aetheryte waiting for me with the 2-seated mount. And I do mean always. This time she just dashed off by herself without even looking back. At one point i asked her if she was still interested in me as an RP partner. She said yes, but all the signs i’m reading from her state the exact opposite... ghosting, disinterest, bleh replies. I’ve confronted her about this before and she always says i’m fine but i think she only says this out of pity or something and I'm scared of confronting her again for fear that she'll get annoyed with me. I'm actually reaching a point where I'm starting to believe that everything I try to do whether IC or OOC is annoying to her. And so I come to my conclusion. I don’t know what to do... These past 2 weeks and a half i’ve been severely depressed because of it. I go to bed sad, i wake up sad and i can barely hold my tears in while at work. It's affected me so much that my parents, my sister, my coworkers and people on the street ask me why I'm sad although I try not to show it. I don’t know how to confront her about it without seeming like i’m pestering her because i still cherish her as a friend IRL and i don’t want to ruin that. At this point I just wish she would call it off if she’s just not interested anymore rather then stringing me along getting my hopes up for nothing. It will hurt a lot but at least it’ll give me the opportunity to get over it and heal rather than keep suffering. I’ve been reading many articles about this subject lately so I can learn about how to deal with this and try to not be the clingy guy or the annoying guy but at this point i just don’t know what to do. She can roleplay with whomever she wants as much as she wants. I won’t stop her. I just want to stop feeling like this. I just want it to stop hurting and i want to stop being a crying mess almost every day. What can I do to fix this? How should I go about solving our RP? Can it even be saved? How do I get her to be honest to me about it? Sorry for the long post, but i’m just lost... Thank you for your time.
