The soft breeze runs through the Shroud, the chill of night running down your spine. Though the Shroud is veiled in the night’s cloak, the moonlight filters through the thick canopy and provides a serene mottled light by which to travel. Menphina’s watchful gaze over her people lights forward a way through the darkness, and though the Shroud is still and quiet, you know that you are not alone. The pack lingers in the trees, along the brush, in your beating heart. No matter where you roam, there is a home waiting for you.

A particularly quirky and notably accepting group, the Shroudwolf Clan is a miqo’te keeper clan and Free Company located within the Lavender Beds, Ward 16 Plot 1. They believe in a traditionally modern approach to their family, meaning that they value both pragmatism and the traditional values of their keeper heritages.

Though it a Keeper Clan in name, it accepts all races and creeds to its ranks. In some ways, it is more of a fellowship of comrades than a Keeper Clan, and yet because of their familial creed it exists as far more than a simple band of misfits.

For anyone who has lost their family, or anyone who never had a family. For anyone who lost their guiding star, or for those following that star and looking for comradery. For anyone who has committed misdeeds and spent their lives trying to atone or escape their past mistakes. Shroudwolf seeks to be a hearth and home for you. So long as you hold the same core values as the clan, you are a Keeper at heart and there is a place for you in our den.

The Shroudwolf Clan is as much an OOC family as it is an IC family. We are a community of creative gamers who enjoy writing and playing together. While RP is important to us, it isn’t everything. It’s more important for us our members to get along and enjoy playing and writing together. Many of our members play other games besides FFXIV, and we always encourage everyone to play any game that they find interesting because there’s sure to be another member of the community who enjoys the same game!

We are a light-medium RP Free Company in FFXIV, and while we try to be as active as possible and provide avenues of RP for all of our members, we won’t hand hold our members to provide RP for them. We offer regular FC wide events with breaks in between plots, and we hope that the intrigue of the event will help generate RP between our other members more casually between events. We also allow all of our members to run and DM their own story lines, and we are more than happy to help collaborate with other FC’s, linkshell’s, and even pure own members plots.

We are all about communication. If there is something not happening that our members want, we are more than happy to help it happen!

Lorewise we try to be respectful as possible to the FFXIV lore, but not so rigid that there is no space for creativity. To be short, we don’t allow straight up lore-breaking but some lore-bending can be acceptable depending on the strength of its playability and the supporting lore. If you’re not sure about something, please DM Nauta Lyehga in game or Lyraciilee on Discord.

If you think you’d like to join our community, please apply on our website! We have a short OOC interview process followed by an IC interview. We are happy to let prospective members in our linkshell and discord to check out the community before joining as well. When you do join the community, there is a one week probationary period in order to make sure that we are a good fit for you, as well as you for us.

Although the wolves hold Menphina as their patron deity and guiding force, there is no requirement for any member of the family to be beholden to her. Instead, the Wolves focus on a core of six characteristics that they believe to be necessary to family’s well being. Each core value is represented by an animal totem, animals that are considered to be spiritual guides to the clan. Each totem also holds a mantra that is used to briefly explain that value, and considered the ultimate truth of the Wolve’s values.

o1. Respect others.
No malicious trolling (jokes among friends can be called trolling, but seriously hindering the gameplay of others is unacceptable), no flaming, no passive-aggressive attacks and no blatant disrespect.

o2.There is to be a complete disconnect between OOC and IC.
If there is something IC that bothers you on an OOC level, distance yourself from it. Once again, no OOC drama will be tolerated from anyone at any time. If you feel angry OOC, RP should be avoided until you calm down.

o3. Honor any trade agreements made with others. No loot stealing, or ninja looting.
Stealing through mail or scams is strictly forbidden. This also includes paying back loans. If it is reported to us that you are loot stealing or ninja looting, this is also completley unacceptable. An example of ninja looting or loot stealing is using the Master Looter feature to take loot for yourself when other arrangements had already been made as to whom would receive the loot. Such action will result in removal from the guild without prior notice.

o4. Respect the opinion of others.
If you cannot agree on a subject, agree to disagree or take it to whispers. If offense is taken to a line of conversation please take it to whispers or end the conversation. Heated OOC arguments will not be tolerated in public or guild chat.

o5. Issues with other players should be addressed to a guild officer if they cannot be reasonably resolved.
Screenshot the conversation, but DO NOT copy-paste the text. Only screenshots will be accepted when considering taking action. We will do what we can to defuse the situation.

o6. ERP is expressly forbidden in public channels and areas.
It is understood that the Shroudwolf Clan is a largely adult guild, and some content of an adult nature will arise. However, we should be aware of others' feelings. As for adult situations, it's relatively anything goes, but ONLY if all involved parties consent to it. If someone tries to force you into a situation you are uncomfortable with, make it clear they should stop. If they do not, screenshot the conversation and contact an officer. Illegal subject matter, such a pedophilia however, will not be tolerated in any capacity and will result in immediate removal from the FC without prior notice.


o7. If you are going to be gone for more than two weeks, please make a post on the forum under the Leave of Absence subforum stating you'll be gone.
You are not required to give a reason or estimated return date, this is strictly so we know not to remove you for inactivity, and so we don't worry about you! After two weeks without notice, you run the risk of being removed from the guild.

We also enforce a 30-day RP activity rule. If you are not active in RP for more than 30 days, without prior notification, you may be removed from the FC. Officers are given a maximum of seven days without notice. If you are removed, you may be replaced, and your membership and/or officer position is not guaranteed to be returned.

If you are removed from the guild for inactivity of any kind, and have given no prior notice to any officers or made a Leave of Absence post, your membership and/or position are not guaranteed.

o9. Absolutely NO godmodding, metagaming, powerplaying, or Mary/Gary-Sues will be tolerated.
It is understandable that mistakes do happen, especially with those new to roleplay. If someone tells you you're metagaming, godmodding, powerplaying, or that your character is rather Mary/Gary-Sue-ish and they actively try to help you, do not take offense. We have all done it at one point, and we want to help you hone your craft.

1o. Your character can NOT be immune to IC punishment.
IC rules and laws will only be enforced ICly. Breaking IC laws results in only IC punishment. We do not OOCly punish for IC actions. However, any members playing immunity to IC enforcement or punishment will be God-moding, and treated as such. Play fair, or OOC action will be taken. This also includes attempt to talk your way OOC out of an IC punishment. Such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

11. Ragequitting will not be tolerated.
If you get angry, step out of game or take it to private messages to work out. Refer to how to deal with issues, but do not ragequit. This includes Discord. You will not be reinvited. If you need to step out of Discord or the LS, we do understand. Handle it tactfully. Whisper a Council member, or just politely say you need to step out. That's not ragequitting. Passive aggression, however, will constitute ragequitting.

12. Non-Clan/non-FC player-characters are to be -warned- OOCly before ICly hostile action is taken.
OOCly communicate with -any- player who's character you intend to have your character attack. It's RP etiquette to make sure someone you don't know is on the same page in regards to conflict. Some people may not be comfortable with the RP that will bring, and will want to choose to remove their character from the scene instead.

If an OOC warning was given, and both parties agree on the conflict, no OOC punishment will be issued. However, this does not exempt the character from IC punishment if IC Clan laws were broken.

13. Have fun.
That's what we're all here for!

[ RP or Plot Hook ] --- A literary device designed to grab the attention of the readers and lead characters down a certain path. Namely, these hooks can be used as IC knowledge that anyone could have by simply walking through the location mentioned. These are an easy way to help your characters find and participate with our group, even if our characters have never met before.

The soft mottled light that filtered in through the Carline Canopy cast a glow about the room. The Canopy was always bustling, full of Adders or Godsbow or Wailers or even adventurers. Information was exchanged readily over drink and foods, and no one thought twice about their voices carrying through the room filled with bubbling energy.

“Crazy Miqo’tes.” A Wildwood Wailer shifted in his seat and lifted a heavy mug of mead to his lips to drink deep. A Godsbow woman whom seemed his companion paused in her drinking and gazed over to the Wailer, quirking a delicate brow.

“What did they do now?” She questioned, amused at the man’s tone. The Wailer set his mug back down and frowned, wiping his arm across his lips to clean off the wetness the ale left.

“They’re just taking in anyone at that damned house! Thieves, poachers, just… just anyone! Do you know how much trouble it is keeping that stupid Free Company from burning the damn forest down!?” The Wailer complained loudly, raising a hand up to exaggerate his point with sharp movements. The Godsbow woman laughed heartily, leaning forward at the table in her overly exuberant laughter. “What!? Do you think this is a joke!? I’m not kidding! Mariel stop laughing at me!” The man whined, frowning his brow and leaning forward across the table to flick at his companion's head.

Across the room’s boisterous noise, the elezen named Mother Miounne gave a small knowing smile and an ever smaller chuckle. Upon any question of the Miqo’tes about to burn down the Lavender Beds, she could only chuckle once more and write down an address.
Lavender Beds, Ward 16, Plot 1. Shroudwolf Den.

“They’re a nice group of people. A small little Keeper clan, but they seem to accept anyone into their family. If you’re looking for a new beginning and a family, they might be a good place to check out.” Miounne would offer with an ever-present smile and a small slip of paper passed across the counter. “They’re a registered Free Company too. They do work for us in the Shroud a lot. Might have a job or be able to train you for a job.”

The sound of steel upon cobblestone rang clear and true through the courtyard as a small trio of armored knights made their way to the tavern. The Forgotten Knight was the premiere place of drink for any Knight off duty, and with the recent turmoil within Ishgard, a hot drink was much needed for anyone. The trio found their seats towards the back of the small establishment, sighing heavily as they removed their helmets.

“I hate patrolling. There’s no glory in patrolling the Pillars.” The one elezen male grumbled, rubbing a gloved hand over his temple. His female hyur counterpart across the table raised a brow to him and turned her drinks over in her hands.

“No glory in slaying Dragons anymore either. There’s no glory in Ishgard at all.” She huffed slightly, the mood of the trio dropping to an all time low as silence fell on the table. The last female knight removed her helmet and coughed to gather their attentions.

“Uh, well, did you hear about that little noble who married a cat?” All three paused and the gaze of almost the entire room looked to the elzen woman. She blinked and blushed, waving her hands to try and dismiss her own words. “N-not an actual cat! A uh… miqo’te! Some Moon Cat from the Shroud I think it was?” She coughed once more and quickly pulled her drink up to her lips to shut herself up with it. The hyur woman scoffed and took her own drink, the male elezen thinking it over for a few minutes.

“And the Nobles actually let him do it? I thought they looked down on that or something... “ He questioned, looking back to the other elezen. The woman set down her mug and let out a small nervous chuckle.

“Yeah, they do, but I suppose with the way things have been recently it doesn’t matter much? From what I hear, she’s like a wild savage. Very beast like. I think she was from something called a Shroudwolf?” The female tapped her lips, thinking over the details of whatever knowledge she seemed to have carefully. The hyur woman chuckled at both of them and shook her head, leaning back in her chair.

“Do you mean that Keeper Clan in Gridania’s Lavender Beds? I’ve seen a few things about it when I visited Gridania. It was the Lord’s younger brother from the D’Argent House who sent us over there to keep an eye on them when that woman of his was in trouble. They’re just a bunch of miqo’te that take in strays. If you ever want to run away from Ishgard because your gossip gets the better of you, they’d probably help you out.” The Hyur snorted, giving a somewhat devious glare to her elezen friend. The elezen woman blushed heartily and quickly shoved her face back into her drink before she embarrassed herself again.

The Quicksand was ever the bustling place for food and drink and business deals of all flavors of legality. It was named the Quicksand for a reason, after all. But upon this night a particular lalafellen merchant sat, fuming less than quietly into his drink. A miqo’te, curvy and lithe with only enough dress to hide the essential bits, shifted her way across the room to him, her fingers running across his shoulders.

“What’s wrong my little lion?” The woman cooed softly into his ear, her tail flicking around to gently brush across his fingers. “You’re looking so sad today…” She gave a mock frown to him, her ears falling lightly as if to try and play off like she were actually empathetic to him. “It’s enough to bring even me down. Why don’t you tell me all about it, hmm?” The miqo’te purred deeply in her throat, coaxing the lalafell to turn his head, looking to the woman. His head fell quickly into her hands and the man let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head against her warm fingertips.

“It’s horrible, just horrible.” He huffed, the anger draining out of him with the miqo’te’s expert touch. He looked up to her, reaching his hand out and touching her cheek. “My business partner was supposed to have a massive delivery for me today, but his caravan was ransacked by a bunch of raving miqo’te!” The miqo’te woman frowned, narrowing her gaze to him. “Er, not that you’re all like that. Not you my lovely little peach blossom.” He put on his best charming smile and the miqo’te woman perked up her ears, her face easing from the annoyance.

“Raving miqo’te, that sounds really hard dearest. Maybe poachers then? Or a cult?” The woman suggested, shifting to pick up the lalafell and sit down on his seat, settling him in her lap. The lalafell did not fight against her, perhaps too drunk to do so. He heave a heavy sigh and buried his head into her chest.

“Some crazy Keeper Clan or something. Something about wolves or something! The nerve of them… The Adders aren’t doing anything about it either. Said that their investigation turned out that it was some crazy beast lurking about in the South Shroud. Ridiculous… my partner has never been wrong before, it must have been those crazy miqo’tes!” He paused again, lifting his head and looking to the miqo’te woman who frowned again. “Not that you’re like that my lovely little dove.” The compliment seemed to ease her for the time being once more.

“Well my little lion, you’re rather tough.” She gently punched at his cheek, giving him a sly grin. “Why don’t you get their address and go give them a piece of your mind? I’m sure they’d cower in fear of you.”

“I have their darn address!” He pulled a small paper from his chest and waved it about. “Lavender Beds, Ward 16 and Plot 1!” The small paper fluttered from his hand, falling to the ground some few feet away. The miqo’te chuckled faintly and looked back to the lalafell, reaching over to brush some of his hair from his pink tinted face.

“Well what’s stopping you then?” She cooed lightly, her ears perking up in interest.

“They’re… ugh, sellswords.” He scowled in distaste, flopping his head back against her chest. “They’re technically a Free Company registered with New Gridania. They supposed take all sorts of people. People trying to start fresh or some such nonsense. They sound like a damned charity group. Not sure it’d be the best idea to run into a group of ex-convicts and yell.” The miqo’te woman chuckled, lightly patting his head.

“You’re so smart my little lion.” She chuckled softly in good spirits, picking the man up from her lap and settling him on the floor. “Let’s go back to your room, hmm? I have a surprise for you today…” She giggled softly, leading the lalafell away from the table and leaving the small piece of paper on the floor, inscribed with the words,

I'm seriously considering coming back to FF14, and am looking for an RP FC to join.  I think that, given that Tyll'a has lost his family (his sister to Carteneau and his mother to the sea), it would make sense for him to try to find a place to call home and, more importantly, a family.

November Update

Hi there! I player searched the names of your officers a couple of times over the last few days, but alas, I must have just missed them!

I'll let the officers know you're looking for them today, and hopefully you'll have a bit more luck. If nothing else, feel free to tap me in-game and I will attempt to perform the complex summoning ritual to usher them forth from the great void beyond (please bring ample amounts of chicken blood, metal filings, maple syrup, and a 50 fulm length of coax).

Recruitment is Temporarily Closed!
Thank you to everyone who applied and everyone who has recently joined us! We really appreciate everyone's interest! At this time, we'll be closing recruitment while we get all of our new members situated. We try to maintain a close tight knit family atmosphere, so we need to set aside to time to integrate everyone into the family! But we won't be closed forever! Once the family is reintegrated, we'll look at opening some few slots coming 2017.

Just because recruitment is closed doesn't mean you can't rp with us either! Feel free to come by the house at any time to meet everyone, join us for an rp event, or just hang out! The LS is still open for anyone to join as well.

If you have any questions, please /tell one of our mods in game, or send me a PM! Thank you!
