Deep within Ul'dah, tucked into a corner rested the Thaumaturge Guild, home of the Dark Arts study and those who practice the magick. Some venture far and wide to simply read the tomes, others come to enhance their abilities. It isn't everyday that one sees a new face within these walls and those that do come here are ones to keep to themselves.

However, today wasn't like the usual days. Not too long ago did a young Hyur woman step within the hallowed halls of the Guild. When she questioned the receptionist if she could search their books, the man glanced over her quickly. He didn't expect to see someone like this woman to be here yet he gave her a nod and gestured her to continue. The young woman bowed her head and gave him a rather thankful yet hopeless smile. He watched her walk away carefully, pondering to himself.

The young woman was short and lithe with deep crimson hair and ivory skin. She wore a hempen top which was in a deep violet color and shorts that had straps connecting them to the longer leg piece. She wore a shy smile on her face as she passed the others yet they were too engrossed in their books and studies to pay attention to her as she made her way in the back of the Guild, gathering a few books on her way there.

Once she found a place to sit, she let out a heavy sigh, plopping into the seat. Bright sea green orbs looked down to the books she gathered, which were all at the stage of a novice.

"How am I to learn from books.. Wouldn't learning from someone be much better of a choice..?" She thought to herself then slowly glanced around the area yet quickly shook her head, scolding herself."No, they have been learning much longer than me. They probably started the same way I am right now. No need to get too ahead of myself." She'd wave her hand, smiling.

She raised her hand to rest on the top book of her pile, only to take a closer look; She was missing one. Her brows furrowed as she looked up to the many shelves that housed the books, slowly rising to her feet. She looked high and low before finally finding the missing tome which resided on the top shelf. She was about to snag her chair before she found a proper stepping stool, quietly moving it in front of her.

This book was a special one to catch her eye; It was the first volume about creatures from the Void. She stretched her arm up but it was out of reach. She rested her hand on the shelf to try and hoist herself up higher, moving to stand on her toes. Her fingers grazed the spine of the book yet she didn't have it just yet.

She'd let out a huff in annoyance but wouldn't admit defeat yet! She bent her knees ever so slightly before she jumped up, snatching the book!

...And also tugged out a few other books, leaving her to fall back onto the ground, flat on her rump as the sound of books, and her body, echoed through the halls. The book she wanted fell open on her face as she was laid on the ground.

"Maybe.. I should have.. Used the chair.." She stated quietly in a dizzy sigh, unable to sit up just yet.
A silver haired Lalafell wearing a navy-blue suit, covering a white shirt and ascott under his neck. The man adjusted his glasses, pushing them further on to his nose, with his small, glove wearing hands. The light reflection covered his tired green eyes for a second.

"Definitely you should." - he replied, putting a book he held back on shelf and approaching the woman. - "Are you allright, miss? No broken bones? Hurt dignity?" - The sarcasm of his monotone voice got all onto her. She took awhile to look upon his face. The guy's face shown expression of irritation, yet it seemed like it's his usual face. Being annoyed surely comes naturally for this guy.

He offered a helping hand to the girl, despite being shorter. Is he mocking her? Or just trying hard to be nice and utterly failing at it?
She'd sit up slowly as she removed a book from her face. Behind it was a face deep with scarlet from embarrassment. She'd gently placed the book down, trying to soothe out the over even though that wasn't quite what it needed anymore. Poor thing possibly just wanted to rest and no be disturbed. That is, if a book could even feel things such as that.

She was very sheepish when she turned to look to the Lalafell, being mindful to not meet his gaze. At first, she was utterly confused. She hasn't seen many of his kind since she keeps to herself within her room full of engineering and metal but the last time she met a Lalafell, she was sure she annoyed him.

"Best to avoid that route.. No matter how curious I am.." She quietly scolded herself before her hand move out to grasp the man's own yet quickly paused after hearing his questions.

"Well.." She thought. "Can't really get upset at him for those comments.. Pretty good comeback though.."

Her eyes finally met his own and she felt another wave of embarrassment fall over her. She quickly shifted her positioning to be sitting on her knees, her hands pressed to the floor before her and she bowed her torso and head numerous times.

"I'm-sorry-I-was-trying-to-get-the-book-on-top-of-the-shelf-and-I-was-about-to-use-the-chair-but-thought-it-was-rude-to-do-so. So-I-tried-to-use-the-stool...-" She'd quickly cut herself off, realizing that her ramblings in one quick sentence may have not been helping the situation. She was just overwhelmed with embarrassment for not only failing and retrieving a book but the fact that others came down with it. Not to mention not being accustomed to the Guild and heard some rumors of those that study within it's halls. However, for that last part, she felt a bit guilty, listening to the rumors of others when they were more than likely not true.

Even if the Lalafell was making fun of her, at least he wasn't doing it boldly and he did ask the same thing she would, especially the dignity comment.

With a sigh in defeat, she lowered her head further. "I'm sorry.. Again.."
A small "Tch-!" could be heard some distance away. Jana Ridah, reading from a book behind one of the pillars in the Thaumaturges' Guild, had heard something distracting... Didn't people know not to be loud in the combination library/funeral home? The browned Miqo'te peeked out from around the pillar to where a woman was stuttering in front of a Lalafell and put a finger in front of her lips before sliding back into her secluded corner.
"Shh!" - Professor did put a finger on his lips to show her that she needs to be quiet, showing some signs of embarassment on his face, by changing it's color to pale-pink.

"We are in a library..." - He'd shift his tone to whisper - "You need to be quiet."

Professor looked at her from above, regardless of his actual height, and measured her from toes to tip of her head.

"Rookie, huh...?"

Jigumundo leaned over the pile of books she threwn off the shelf.

"Those aren't really good if you want to start learning... But..."

Lalafell pushed his glasses further up his nose and started searching the pile, fetching her a book after a while. It was "Aether Science".

"That shoudl cover the theoretical basics... aaaaaand..."

The next one he gave her was "Thaumaturgy and Me - how to cast a fireball and not hurt yourself"

"...that one." Then he'd reach to his suits inner pocket to get a small piece of paper from there and also gave it to the rookie.

"Also you might use this... as well as to get a contact with me or just as a bookmark"

The note was actually a business card:

Quote:
Professor Jigumundo Darkbore

Aether Science and Magi-tech specialist
Thaumaturgy teacher.

University of Aether.

"I hope that you might find all three of this things useful..." - Professor bowed his head a bit and started tidying up the mess, that girl did.
