Hallo.

I don't usually make these kind of informative introductionary posts as I prefer to leave that stuff for RP, but I figured I should change that as I'm looking to get well-established in FFXIV roleplaying. And what I have in mind for my character relies heavily on the support and fairness of fellow roleplayers, so let's get started.

<My Roleplaying Career>

The Experience
I've been roleplaying for quite a while, 10 years or so. Earliest roleplay experience wasn't actually through any gaming but LARP(live-action roleplaying) in 2005. I added MMORPG roleplaying to that the following year. World of Warcraft is the first MMORPG I've roleplayed in and also the longest. I've been RPing in it as long as I've been playing it, so since late vanilla, only some half a year before the release of TBC. Started off in Steamwheedle Cartel EU where I stayed some 3 years, about a year on The Sha'tar EU and then back to Steamwheedle for a while until I moved to Argent Dawn EU where I've been staying since and still do.

I don't have a lot of variety of what games I've been RPing on. In addition to WoW and now FFXIV, I've been RPing in Guild Wars 2 for a little over a year though I haven't touched that game for a long time now. Stopped doing LARP some 8 years ago as the group I did it with got disbanded, kind of. Majority moved on with their lives, got jobs, focused on studies, etc. Those who didn't stop doing it went on to do it with other groups. I've also tried some Skype/Steam chat RP, but very little of it.

I started playing FFXIV only about a week ago at the time of writing this post. Although I'm very familiar with the Final Fantasy franchise, FFXIV is still very new to me. Except silly questions and mistakes.

The Style:
I wouldn't categorise myself as the common things like elitist, casual, lightweight, etc. because my roleplaying habits can vary a lot depending on context. Some things I can be very casual about and some very strict about. What I can say though is that I try to keep my RP friendly, fair and sensible. You won't have to worry about meta-gaming, god emoting and overly ridiculous, lorebreaking things with my RP as I detest those myself. My RP can vary from very lighthearted and humorous to serious and mature, but I know what is best kept private.

<The Character>

You might say N'jassa is bit of an experiemental project for me, as I want to RP something as her that didn't go so well in WoW thanks to unwelcoming experiences. I want to RP her as a pickpocket/thief(which in the best case, you'll never find out about IC). So what went wrong in WoW with that? Lack of support. It's rather difficult to RP a successful(or unsuccessful) pickpocket when people aren't willing to let their characters be part of it. Here's the worst example I ran into.

There's a human paladin, elderly fella. I emote sneaking up on him from behind and TRYING to pick his pocket(emphasis on TRYING the attempt, not DOING it). Now that worked, and then I ran away. You know what happens next? He whispers me OOC that I might not want to open his purse because it's rigged to blow up when opened with enough force to mutilate my hands and possibly face.

So yeah, I don't think I need to say more about that. If you don't want to partake, say it right off the bat rather than spontaneously decide something devious after. That leaves a sour taste.

I'm hoping that the community here in FFXIV will be more welcoming of my attempts to RP a pickpocket. Emphasis on attempts, because that's what every scenario will be. I will not emote *steals your purse and runs away like a spriggan holding an egg*. I will emote *ATTEMPTS/TRIES to steal your purse and run away*. Most likely I will also give you an OOC poke beforehand if you're willing to partake in my RP. And considering FFXIV has some nice houses, maybe you'll even invite me do a bit of burglary.

I will not choose how successful my character is. YOU decide it. You will decide every outcome of that scenario. Will she succeed? If yes, then how much did she manage to steal? Gonna give chase or let her go? And if you catch her, what then? Are you merciful or gonna turn her to the authorities? Maybe you'll even try to steer her away from her misguided ways? Or maybe you'll think yourself above the law as well and enact your own judgement? If you'll go with the latter, I don't recommend killing her outright as that kinda ruins my RP, as you can figure out yourself I'm sure. Beating the lesson in her is fine. If you're unsure, ask. I don't god emote. I hope you won't either.

I won't publish more details about my character as I like to leave as much as possible to finding out via RP. She might be a pickpocket, but she's a person too. She might have a story to tell you and you might even like her. Might steal your heart and who knows, you might even want to let her keep it.

<Conclusion>

So there's a bit of info about the spoon I will be putting in the soup that is FFXIV roleplaying. Question is, will I pull my spoon out of the soup full or empty? You decide! I hope this will encourage you to RP with me and welcome me and my RP. Feel free to give me a poke whenever I'm online if you want some RP. You can also try and just walk up to me and give me a pleasant surprise of RP. You can easily tell if I'm IC or OOC from the fact that if I wear a bandana, whether displayed or not, I am most likely IC.

Cheerio.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm on Balmung(NA Legacy), but you can see that in the info under my avatar anyway.

She is. Hands off her, though! No touching!

Jokes aside, I've been friends with this one for a while and never have I been dissapointed after a session we have shared. N'jassa can be a real joy to play and the quality of her RP only improves with time. Really, try this one out. You can get a sense of how much work she puts in her RP by the length and construction of this post alone.

Eyyy, good for you for being proactive! That's the best way to find your niche with this community, imo. Big Grin

Going after anyone's money is an offense. Big Grin I don't think the Rogue's Guild works in Ul'dah though? N'jassa isn't part of the guild anyway. She's just a pickpocket, not a rogue with a cause.
Hello there and welcome! Pretty kitty! Big Grin Your character seems interesting, hopefully I can bump into her sometime on one of mine!
