Your Xaela is supposed to come from a tribe though, even if he left. Perhaps you could consider getting ties with a real tribe, as having a real family or real friends might give him any future plot!

No ww
I actually have a particularly interesting story revolving around a Xaela and Memenu once heavensward is released.

While they are tribal they can come from anywhere really. Just like how alot of Seeker Miqo'te were never raised in the seeker culture.  War causes alot of orphans after all and I can easily see a Doman coming across a destroyed tribe of Xaela and taking a little crying baby in and helping a generation be raised in Doman Culture.

I currently have it where her tribe was captured by Garlean soldiers when she was just a little girl, and she then grew up to be part of the imperial army. Circumstances surrounding Operation Archon labeled her a deserter though, so she's had to somehow integrate into Eorzea. A little bit of a mess to work through, but I think it'd be neat to have a plot that involves her at least attempting to go back to her tribal roots.

I'm not sure that would work, but if you'd like to edit a few details, it'd be fine. Our tribe is from Western Othard, nomadic and always moving. We are scouting Eorzea looking for a safer land because of the dangers of the empire.

If you'd like to of been an old member who was assumed dead/captured, thats fine too.
Update:

With the tribes of the Au Ra being fixed, we are looking at settling on Tumet tribe or Gharl!
Haha! Damnit Gin! We meet again.   I seen the list too and popped in to see who else has made a decision...  I am gonna go with the Tumet. I like the rite of passage, since I always pictured Kiri ( real name Sarnai Tumet ) as a long distant scout,  Tumets seem like they would be a speedy sort and always seem to know which way is home :3
We have a linkshell! for those who just want tumet-background links, feel free to join.

we are also open to recruitment for any apperance/gender of Tumet Xaela! Maybe even a super special Raen with a Tumet name if your backstory works.
I'll join, though it'll be a few days before I can transfer a character to the server. If then. Congestion is fun, neh?

Either way, I was thinking of the name Arslan. Arslan Tumet.

Certainly, that works.

I'd recommend giving this a read, near the bottom is some helpful information to help make your name more lore proof if need be.
I just took the name of Arslan Khan. Although, he was Turkish, I suppose, not Mongolian, having been prince of the Karluks in about 1200 AD. The Karluks were conquered and folded into the Mongolian empire by the first emperor, Ghengis Khan, who bestowed the title Arslan the Sart to Arslan Khan, effectively naming him a son of the emperor. So, Arslan is a Mongolian name, after a fashion.

That's my reasoning for using the name, though it may not be 100% lore compliant. I suppose I could change it, though. Re-rolling is easy; I've only done like, three quests.

If you're low level, I can power level you to 15 or so if required. Big Grin
I'm not on Balmung yet. I'll be past 15 by the time the three day wait for world transfer is up. Y'know. Probably. 1-15 is super easy anyway. Pretty sure I can do it in a couple hours.

Arslan originated in middle Eurasia, with Iranic, Mongolian, and Turkish variants -- it means 'lion.' There was a lot of word borrowing going on in Eurasia, just as you see happening in Europe and America. So you're good! Smile

... D-does that mean you can translate Arslan Khan as... "lion king"?
