Greetings members of the Role Playing Coalition! (^_^)/

My character's name is Amrita Prakriti & I currently play on Wutai server.
I have been playing FFXIV since closed Beta & had no idea that Besaid was going to be the unofficial "official" RP server until it was too late. Sad

When I came to FFXIV, I really wanted to just be in-character as often as possible, but that has proved very difficult on my server.
With the merge and an opportunity to move coming up, I thought I would entertain switching worlds/servers.

To answer questions you all may have about me:
MMORPG background: Not much~ I played FFXI for several years. Abyssea came out, CoP level cap was abolished... I lost the desire to play as one by one my friends cared more about getting stuff, gear, level maxed out, etc then anything else. The adventure was gone for me. I was accepted into FFXIV's beta and stayed.

RP experience: Also.. not much aside from (in ffxi) swooning over Samurai I haven't really had much opportunity to RP in an MMORPG.

Character ideas/info:
I did start a little story blog which can be found on Loadstone or here: http://amritaxiv.blogspot.com/2011/05/w ... -name.html
In a nutshell, Amrita grew up with her parents and sister in their hermitage on the outskirts of the Black Shroud. As she grew up, something beckoned her to Gridania... and there the adventure begins. She is really naive with her interactions with others since thus far she has been isolated in the hermitage.

How did you learn about the coalition?
I posted a "Curious..." thread on the official FFXIV loadstone forum and was directed here by Endemerrin.

What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Casual, moderate, or heavy?
This is where I might need some guidance. I thought it would be fun to just always be in character, but I would imagine that can be pretty difficult at times. Plus I have never technically done it.

Anything from real life you’re comfortable with sharing?
In real life I teach and study yoga. I like to weave the spiritual and philosophical aspects of Yoga into my character's behavior. And of course it influences my actions in real life as well. =p
I live in Texas and we're central time zone here... BUT!! As a rl aspiring karma senyasan I get up around 5am to do my personal practice, then log onto the game while others of the household are sleeping so I don't disturb them. I try to go to bed around 9 or 10 at night. So my "prime" play time is more like JP or EU I guess. I don't know if that would fit in with any of the linkshells here.

Other Information:
On Wutai, I have a few social linkshells but as people push asap to level 50, they quickly branch out and away and join whatever the "end game" ls of the day is and spam Ifrit/Moogle until they get their fill of weapons.
Perhaps it is selfish of me, but I want more then that. I would like to be in a linkshell with people who stay in that ls and don't just do the same fights over and over, don't just rush get 50 in every job... I want a linkshell with fun and interesting people who don't laugh at the idea of forming a party to go out fishing together.
And of course, a linkshell that isn't afraid to play their "toon" as a character. To be something they aren't for a while. To enjoy the RPG aspect of this mmorpg.

Seems to me this is the best place to find that, no? ^_~

Wow that was long.. sorry >_>;;;

What I want to know is... where would I fit in best, if at all?

If you have any questions for me please don't hesitate to ask. I'll try to keep my answers short, sweet and to the point!

Hari Om Tat Sat! <3

I almost forgot I had posted in that thread. Whoops...

Glad to see you came to check us out! There's quite a few active linkshells floating about, with each being quite different from each other. Everything from groups with rather specific goals such as defending the twelveswood and the like, to pure adventuring linkpearls, and even more business-like adventuring companies.

Though you won't have to dive into a shell right away in order to find roleplay. We have an OOC shell on the server, which a big chunk of the community uses to both socialize and organize roleplay in the game. Essentially you could freelance it if you want with that pearl at your disposal. If anything else, it's a good tool to broaden your circles and perhaps be introduced to certain linkshells more intimately.

And while things may seem rather slow around here in the days leading up to the merges, I assure you there is a thriving community in-game, even if people tend to neglect to post on these forums some times.
Cactuar

Feel free to give me a poke some time! Hope to see you around on Balmung.
You... you (almost) forgot?!?! </3
J/K Heart I've been "trolling" around here trying to get an idea of what the different linkshells might be like since you posted in that thread and finally decided I just need to post because my head started to hurt there is just.. so much.. stuff o_o

My latest grand idea is to just show up unannounced on Besaid and crash the party. =p
I think that's the only way to really see what its like before taking the plunge during server merge... dunno. :/

Cactuar this is too fun & i'm using it for no reason :3
Hey welcome to the community! What kind of yoga is your favorite?

As far as being IC full time, it's really not hard if that's something you /like/ doing. I myself enjoy the creative force of it, more than anything.

I don't think it's fair to ask a new player to 'read up' on the past storylines, that would be ridiculous. However I do hope you have a more-or-less fleshed out character concept in mind, that can be honed later through RP and experiences. If you're not quite sure, I'm sure some people would be glad to help you out!
I think I do have the concept intact (of my character). I even had a story/blog going for a while but that got harder to do the less and less I was able to just "be Amrita" so to speak. It's hard to be in character when people are like.. are you a manthra or real girl... how old are you, where do you live.. "Gradania..?" "Haha no IRL." "Huh what do you mean, what is this IRL you speak of?" or when they're asking you if you played ffxi... or for help with the game menu. I wish I'd heard about Besaid during beta lol then I could have skipped all this confusion. :p

My plan was to just emerge on the scene (in character)& assume someone would find me and understand that I wasn't a nitwit, but trying to be IC and adopt me/point me in the right direction.^^ Then just interact with others & the story line and see where that took me.

Favorite yoga... that's tough. It depends on how you see yoga I guess.
(short answer)Yoga is a sanskrit word meaning "union". Based on that, my favorite would have to be karma, which is selfless action.

Now, if you were thinking more along the lines of exercise, that would depend on how I am feeling and what my body needs on any given day. That said I always do a set sequence in the morning. Later in the day I'll attend a class, anything from gentle, to something with more of a "flow" and on rare occasions Ashtanga. (that is freakin hard!)

My favorite (exercise version) style to teach is gentle since that can reach and help the most people.
^_^
Ah then you should get that OOC pearl and bust into the scene, see where you land. I must warn you though, that if things seem 'slow', it /is/ because of your playtime. Don't despair too soon though, there are others who are in that same playtime. :approve:
Maybe slow is good, I don't want y'all to scare me =p (some people in my ls' on wutai said RP people can be scary lol)

What is "prime time" for you guys usually?

Also how weird would it be to just move current Amrita, she's level 50 in 2 jobs and has done quite a bit of the main quest story stuff already.
I'm open to suggestions on how to make that make sense. ^^;
Welcome.~<3

Prime times vary per person due to timezones, I for instance am EU, GMT+1, and some people are UTC or CST or whatever, so it all varries. Time gaps of like 8 hours between players are not unusual at all, just play at the times you want and you'll meet RP-ers that are on the same times as you :3

I hope you enjoy your stay on our wonderful (If not best) server :3
Having fun so far! :approve:
(Sri Shakti)
Teach me some yoga and some meditation practices and I'll teach you everything you'll need to know! Err...well...teach you by finding out through someone else...I'm still pretty new myself, but welcome nonetheless =p.

I think you'll find that a lot more 'open' or 'random' RP happens most often during prime time, but not always.one thingI've noticed, and I don't know of it's just me, but since w have a rather small community, you'll be able to get most of your rp kicks from the ls' our announced events. I wander around Ul'Dal icly once in a while, but not run into too many rpers out and about rping.

Can you join multiple ls'? I think regardless, just a someone mentioned, joining OOC would be a great start...but then so would the rest of the ls' listed on our ls page.

I hope we'll get to see you on Balmung!
I will certainly teach you yoga! ^_^
I have actually already taught 1 person I met in-game a few times.
(Now she's pregnant and also playing the game less after getting a promotion at her job so we haven't been able to match up schedules.)

I'm toying with the idea of just creating a fresh character... Wondering if it would be weird to show up having CON & THM at lvl 50 already.. how do I explain that away? lol
If I do, her name will be Amrita.

In the meantime I'm prowling around as Sri Shakti. /stalkidy stalk :3
It wouldn't be odd at all. Why would it...? It's not like every character knows every single person in the game and thus if you appear out of nowhere my character will think you're some inter-dimensional alien xD

You can just say in the bio of your character that she has already plenty of experience as a CON or w/e, I don't really see the problem. Maybe if you can elaborate on what is confusing to you..?
lol Oskar ^^ good point~~
I went ahead and made Amrita on Besaid. If it turns out that I can move just one character in March then I'll replace her. In the meantime I'm hanging out in Gridania waiting for something interesting to happen, honing my skills and smiling at strangers! >^_^< /purrrr

Also, Endemerrin was kind enough to give me a pearl to OoC when I arrived (and spent a good while answering my noob questions). He is so freakin' nice!!!! ^_^
