So to start off, Do you remember the Syrcus tower/world of darkness raid/duty finder thing? The introduction quest into there, you meet these two Hyur's with red eyes wearing the allagan clothing and being all mysterious.

You then find out that they are clones, and were made for the sole reason of going to that tower and doing the stuff.
_____________________________________________________________________

Now, They never did say they were the only clones, and in syrcus tower and world of darkness more clones of them show their faces. Evil ones, but still more clones. Who's to say there weren't other clones made for other purposes? If the Allagans could easily clone this person/people why stop at two?

So would someone be able to rp one of these clones? Heck, many people could rp them. They pose as researchers, adventurers, whatever will get them to their 'goal'. This goal can be made by the player with some sort of logical backing that an allagan would want to find out or do.

The character design is not that hard, I have created a lookalike in the creator. And the allagan robes, a different color scheme, drop in raids. I think Coil. Anyone rp'ing them could honestly look the same in their faces.

I would love to hear some thoughts on this. If its something that makes sense, or just some fantasy of mine.
Clones are seen beyond this in further patches and even in the expac (won't go into details because spoilers!) so the idea isn't too complex...however, it seems to be something restricted to Allagan tech.

A character stumbling across the Allagan technology to make them that way seems your best bet for ICly explaining that sort of thing but I could be wrong. That's just what I've gleaned thus far from my experience in the game Smile
Uuuh personally I would stray away from roleplaying one of -those- clones, seeming they are lore characters after all. And if I recall the end of WoD, they do vanish don't they?

Personally I wouldn't touch anything along the matters of clones/Allagan tech to that point!

But that's my two cents on the matter Smile
The clones stay in WoD to like... Continue their job. Not really vanish. But I do understand your reasoning.

As for the character becoming the clone, that wasnt the plan so much as roleplaying just another clone that was around at the time.

Talking it over with some people in game though, it brought up the idea that there was only one set of clones, and if they failed the mission, another would activate. And another issue regarding lore character is they they were clones of royalty. Rp'ing Lore royalty would be a general no-no.

Im happy with both those responses. feel free to say how its a terrible idea and why. Im just trying to get some ideas on the matter.

Show Content
Allagans have been shown to be no strangers to cloning technology. They've also been shown to possess technology that continues to work after thousands of years.

The idea of an Allagan clone surviving to this day and being recently released into the world is plausible.

I think you'd run into issues RP'ing it in a way that makes that background choice relevant and interesting. If you don't make it be a relevant part of your character then why even make the choice?

If you make it a relevant part of your character you've just made your character the star of any show whenever someone recognizes it. You've also become a fountain of knowledge for any Allagan researchers which will inevitably lead to headcanony lore-fill ins which won't fit with everyone's idea of Allag.

It's a very peculiar aspect for a character to have and probably unadvised in the same manner that RP'ing loyalty is. More so in my opinion.

As always, if you can find a way to dodge those obstacles and create an exciting and engaging character go for it.
I mostly follow, but is this character meant to be another clone of Unei/Doga or another Allagan in general?

Either way, Chao may or may not kidnap you.
It would be another clone of Unei/Doga. Red eyes, all that fancyness.

And for what Sin said, The work around for not head-cannoning allagan lore could be that well, they are a clone. They dont know how the technologies work or much of the history. being a clone doesnt necessarily mean you have all the memories and knowledge of the original. Unei/Doga had knowledge that they were clones, and they probably were only taught what they needed to know for their mission.

However, your point of being the instant center of attention is indeed a good thing to think over. Personally I have never done well in a large group as the spotlight person rp wise. It would be a defining factor of the character, being a clone, but how they changed goals, their undercover nature of everything, and what they do to fit in would be the major rp point to go on.

It would be a fine line to dance across.
I, personally, don't see a problem, but then I'm not the person you really want to be taking advice on lore compliance from. The blank slate route is one that's easy to play out, as no clone is going to be anything like their genetic source, and you need only look to Star Wars for that.

My legitimate stance is that so long as you put a lot of thought and iron out all the kinks in your head, play it up. Also, for the whole "center of attention pretty princess" deal, that's as easy to get around as picking your audience. For an example of this: my character Chao is a magitek genius who's as adept at punching things as she is at setting them on fire with her mind (read: very adept), built herself a sentient combat robot and powered infiltrator (the assault set is coming) armor. However, this is not something she flaunts to the world. Other than the Garleans who are actively hunting her down, the only people who know even a bit of what she's capable of are the people at USH who have interacted with her a little. Back when she used to sit around in the QS, she'd never tell anybody who randomly walked up and talked to her about her activities. (Because that's a good way to call down Garlean assassins on your head)
IF played correctly, with caution, with humility, and with a good story and purpose for your character, this is a completely possible character in my opinion.  I think you are going to get more people who will probably just say don't bother because of the risks, but honestly, it is no fun to always just have a safe character, and if you do this right, I think it is just enough on the side of unimportant that it could work quite easily.

Some things to consider:

The poster above is right, and I think that you answered this pretty well, clones don't necessarily know everything there is to know, and possibly could be taught or programmed with the exact amount of knowledge they need.  Another possible approach to this is making your character have some memory loss.  If you can RP with friends who are willing to accept your character for what he/she is, and who can help you make it convincing that maybe your character senses something is not right, something is a little off about themselves, and have some memories that over time come back (which will allow you to retain some of the Allaghan societal queues, but not have to deal with tons of lore to learn/make up which I wouldn't ever recommend).  This kind of thing can also be justified with the long expanse of time since their creation, maybe after being dormant for so long, they have forgotten their purpose?  If you don't like these, or don't have the RP friends to support these, feel free to do whatever you want, I just thought these were some decent plot ideas?

One last thing, I think a great idea to really emphasize on a character like this is: the future!  A clone who has lost purpose (and possibly memory), and is living in a time with which they are not familiar, has a great potential to be a wanderer or searcher, going along an unseen path and trying to find a new goal in their lives, which in any kind of character can be a real treasure to RP with some hard work and creativity!

Above all, and this has been mentioned above in a way, play with humility!  Do not be: "I am an Allaghan clone guys!  Look at me!  I am thousands of years old!" be more: "Hello my name is Doga/Unei...made up last name, no real family, unknowing of cultural cues or the simple world of today's Eorzea, but still a person with all the emotions and thoughts a normal person has, nice to meet you, lets grow together (as I figure out my place and self)!" because that is the way that you are going to get what you want and still enjoy all the many wonders of RP in our big talented and creative community!

Okay, enough rambling, hope this helps, and good luck!  Momo would be happy to work with you at some point if you are on Balmung!
