 II. RP Style
[*]
  • Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): If time were to ever permit, I'd love to put in the effort to be a heavy RPer. Unfortunately, it doesn't since I am both busy and also like to actually play the game. So, I consider myself a medium RPer. I am certainly a fan of writing/participating in deeper plots and character development but I might not be in those as often as others.I do tend to make long posts but will trim down if the partner wants.
  • Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat is fun. I like fighting. It's a good time. In terms of how it's done, I'm fine with deciding things OOC if needed; rolls don't need to be used (even if I prefer them) though I will request them if a serious disagreement is inbound. When I DM NPC vs PC encounters, it's a near guarantee that rolls will be used. As for injuries, they happen happen. This is especially apparent when rolls are being used since it may force our characters into injured states (which is something I love about it). I am in absolutely no way against this. I am not one to shy away from letting my character feel some pain.
  • Views on IC romance: I'm a big mush so I have a huge soft spot of IC relationships and romance. Seeing one's character build friendships is nice but watching love bud is enjoyable. It may take a bit to get to such a point with my characters, especially Eddard, though the venture to that point is often fun to RP. When it comes to the more physical side of it, I do have limits. I will only RP out so many details about alone time before requesting a "fade to black" sort of thing.
  • Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): This has never really been a preferred avenue of mine. I do like making characters with my friends in mind, maybe collabing a bit to decide they're long time friends or whatever. I also like making new characters alongside a friend to have them be partners of some sort, but that means I need to have a sizable trust in you. I've never made a character related to another player's character, but if I did, that trust would need to be ten fold since that is a very heavy relationship role to play.
  • Views on lore: Lore is the foundation of all this role-playing that we do. Without the in-depth lore this universe (or any other) presents us, RP would potentially become far more chaotic and inconsistent since there'd be no guideline to say what can or cannot be in the world of Eorzea. Obviously, I think the lore should be respected when RPing. But, I am not against some slight lore bending/making so long as no pre-existing lore contradicts what you say. If you're writing a plot and you're filling in a detail about a certain monster that the game doesn't give much lore on then that's fine. It just needs to be believable and not outlandish.
  • Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I love linkshells. I think they're really cool to use for RP. They have the obvious use of IC contact for official business. Looking for a group to complete a job, an officer speaking with his recruits, etc. But it also gives a quick medium for lighter RP. Just simple banter between characters to build some relationships while we're working on the Main Scenario or gathering or what not. I think they're delightfully versatile.
