Alright, so here is a subject i see alot of but for my own curiosity. what type of romance do each of you enjoy? i know this is rather vague, but that is the entire point of this topic! RP or out of game, it matters not. if you're comfortable with sharing, feel free!

I'm quite a fan of story lines in which a character meets another and starts out as friends but some where along the lines one of the two starts feeling something for the other, further into the story however something tragic may happen or one of the two may get hurt. its at that point that the character admits their feelings to the other and the romantic portion of the story begins.

(Edited to be more in depth.)
Both in and out of game I like dates that are a little personal. Like a walk to a favorite spot for a picnic. Im a sucker for mushy.
I like romance where there's a good balance in the personalities. Heartfelt and sincere romance with a dash of cuteness for flavor.
In-game I don't care as long as it's natural.

Out of game I only take relationships where large amounts of hugging are permitted.
RP romance... hmm.. They have been mostly crushes on Jerciex, but for him romance is spending time with someone, alone/together. It doesn't matter where as long you can just be alone with this person and do things together.
Talking, caressing and being close. Dinners, tea moments are just perfect way to spend time together ^^
Smile PRetty vanilla stuff Blush
My definition of romance is when me and a girl play a game together and beat the shit outta each other then proceed to gloat about the win. Or something along the lines of arguing with each other just for lolz and all that crazy stuff. I like the aggressively fun types mmmmm.

IC wise Aaron likes a independent girl. One that wont throw a fit if they see him talking to someone else with no anterior motives. And will keep him from being a lazy bum when he doesn't want to do anything productive.
The type that doesn't get you married within a year. <_<
The best kind of date ends with both lovers covered in the blood of the unrighteous and corrupt.

Sounds like a heck of an amazing date.

As for my own roleplay? Give them tension, arguments, drama. No one is perfect, so give me those clashes! But of course the bit of good old romance is never wrong Smile

AND I HAVE HUGE THING FOR ROMANCES WHO ARENT MEANT TO BE. ELVES WITH HUMANS YES.

Groooooss
I'm pretty open to any type though I draw a few limits as far as how much detail wise.. I do have to agree with a comment above. Any that doesn't end up with being married in a year. Tongue Though someone would have to put up with my character that long haha.

I do admit a ooc weakness that I have for the mushy stuff.. sadly my character is not as easily swooned into such things. >w<

Also picking at another comment posted above.. unusual romances or at least the uncommon (maybe in some cases doomed) .. yes please. ^^
IC Romances, hmm... I think the best ones are the ones where the two don't necessarily like each other to start with. Maybe they're rivals or even enemies.

Perhaps they are allied for a cause but don't get along but then as the work together they slowly gain a grudging respect for each other and that slowly blossoms into a friendship. Even when that friendship happens and continues to grow, they either don't acknowledge it or resist where it's taking them.

Only at the end, when they finally admit that they are in love, do they realize the whole story has been a romance... and one like no other.
I'm terrible in that I like IC romances that are complicated. A good chase, some witty banter, a selfish act, the work of an outside force, a messy fight, a tragic turn of events -- while I don't like a romance that's just whipping from one dramatic scene to another, I do like one where it's not all happy all the time. There needs to be some tension somewhere, since I'm a believer that characters show their true colors and grow when faced with adversity. The adversity doesn't have to be between the lovers, of course. Two bright lights holding close against the encroaching darkness works as well as two fiery personalities clashing with each other.

Beyond that, it needs to grow organically ICly, and I like it when there's cuteness and playfulness to balance out any bitterness.

As for L'yhta's type? Bards, primarily. Smile
Eh, I'm picky. The characters have to feel like they click, and I'll need to have some rapport and scheduling compatibility with the other player. Experience has taught me that a lot of people are flighty or musey and what delights them today will inexplicably bore them next week, so I'm not in a rush. If the other player seems to consistently enjoy RP with me and makes time to do it, and their character appears to be putting effort into the situation, then things might happen in a natural sort of timing.

But if their character invites mine for a date, and then it's obvious from the RP that the other player didn't put any thought into where they would go and what they would do, and then afterwards I don't see them around for a week... ehhh... Probably not really gonna happen.

And definitely no Carly Rae RP Romance:

"Hey, I just met youuu~
And this is craaazyyy~
But now we're married~
And here's a baby~"

No. No no no.

That last part made me chuckle.
