Hey everybody! I have been playing Until Dawn and have been loving it so far! While I was playing it the game got me thinking. I've always wanted to RP a horror scenario with either a psycho killer or some monster of some sort chasing a group of adventurers around. Obviously with our characters fighting monsters for a living you would figure they wouldn't exactly be scared of such things ;<. My inquiry is that would anyone happen to have any interest in plotting something up of a group of players and possibly even some non playable characters to kill off.

I've played some Cthulu and other types of games that fall into the horror category that involve roleplaying so I figured it could work given I could find the people willing to put something up. With Halloween coming up next month I was hoping to get something started and begin planning for something in October. I think this would work best if we could have some players who are willing to have their brave characters scared of at least -something- whether that could be a hideous monster, ghost, or anything that would seem paranormal according to FFXIV Lore.

I'm open to any ideas and more of less doing an interest check to get a group of people to meet up IC, whether friends or meeting for the first time, and jump into a crazy night or so! If any of this sounds fun to anybody please let me know! I can start working and planning on a time that would work for everyone :3.
sounds awesome ^^ I'd love to take part
Coral actually had a long-running event involving the FC house being haunted by a spirit, and it was equal parts intriguing, enlightening, and creepy. And a lot of the company attended and participated - so I definitely believe there's a place for some more horror RP for folks, especially with Halloween coming as you have mentioned. And, if I recall correctly, there's even an LS or two solely dedicated to ghost-busting and other paranormal things!
I would most definitely be interested!
Halloween is my favorite time of the month! If anythings happening, I'd be more than willing to have Kiht'a take part. He'd be rather easy to scare though. Tongue
That sounds great guys! Also that bit about the FC house being haunted sounded perfect! I wish I was around for that xD. That concept is pretty neat also. I considered using someone's company house for a night if that could be an option :> if not I'm sure there could be other places to go as well. A house would be perfect as a party could be hosted there that someone was having and would be more of a "anybody's welcome! Invite your friends!" type deal.

I think it would be a very cool event. Sadly I won't actually be on balmung until my next paycheck xD need to buy the game + the expansion and find a good time to actually create a character on the server. I'll be thinking up a scheduled date that everyone would be okay with once we get a decent sized roster going Big Grin anyone who is interested I'll keep your character's name on my notepad!
A potential workaround to characters being "badasses", and thereby not easily afraid would be putting them in situations that exploit their internal demons. Liv's backstory has a few elements along those lines (once I get to writing it), but I imagine you could work a horror around something similar. Granted, a good portion of characters don't fit the adventurer role. So I wouldn't worry about it not being scary enough.

That said, I adore Until Dawn. So I'd definitely be interested. ^^
Wendigos.... bloody wendigos. That's all I can think when it comes to Until Dawn. Over all it would be nice to have some know of horror, maybe akin to Silent Hill. Psychological Horror is scary no matter how it's for as everyone has some fear deep in their mind.
Right?! That game gave me so many jump scares xD. I was thinking a monster of paranormal origin. Maybe a voidsent of some sort I'll have to check out the lore and what a good creature could be. Something similar to a wendigo would be awesome xP. I was also considering doing the /random roll. I hear it's a dice that's implemented in the game and whoever got the lowest roll would be the target of the creature/spirit. Thus I would probably take the liberty of writing out what the creature does during this "haunt" and the PC would write how their character would handle the situation.
Now for who rolls the highest would have the initiative to take action thus giving them plenty of options. A.) Attempt to save the person caught. B.) Run away from the scene to ensure safety. C.) Attack the creature directly. As for the rest of the crew they could decide what to do based on how their character would respond to the situation.

The bonus of being able to recieve the highest roll during the "haunt" or "attack" the character could alter how the night goes based on their decision. By injuring the creature, they could give the group bonus time to regroup and plan their next defense. By aiding their friend or stranger they would be able to prevent a possible injury that could cripple the group. By running away and avoiding the conflict your character would be safe but the creature would have time to escape and attack again much more quickly. That would really only be the "rules" I guess you could say of it but otherwise, the people who don't score the highest or lowest role are free to do whatever but only after the lowest responds with how they react to the attack and the highest how they treat the situation.

The player with the highest roll however does have the option to make a difference in how things go. If this type of system doesn't work for you guys or if you have an idea of your own that would work better I would be happy to take ideas. After all I want this to be fun and a memorable experience for everyone x3.
One of the things I'd like to do in rp is serial killer investigation and suspense plot. I've already tested it out in similarly themed RP but I might need to do a separate storyline to achieve it. Not horror so much as thriller but still...
Im in.
The strength of characters might make a horror storyline difficult. There are many ways to render characters harmless, but you'd have to be wary of making them feel its unfair. (Even though feeling powerless enhances horror.)
With how creepy Tam Tara hard was I'm sure you could pull something up. The Void is a really terrifying place!

Who knows what escapes there from time to time? Our scaly voidkin friends surely get around.
