I have decided to try FF 14 again before 2.0 in an attempt to see the unfolding before the rebirth.

I am very excited about 2.0. I really think, as I did the first time, this will be the game for me going forward based on what I have seen from 2.0. It looks very FFish.

Konner is a samurai. I play a Gladiator, but I do not use armor or shields. I know, that won't get me invited to many parties, but I am what I am.

Anyways, Konner is a ronin with a past and in need of work. He is a skilled swordsman and a decent gambler. He is honorable and direct, but kind and good-natured.

He would serve a lord if there was one willing to show him good lodging and living. For now, he would seek others like him. He would do best with anti-heroes and the like.

I would like to meet with anyone and just RP to do it. I have expereince in such and am no stranger, but I am not cool with finger waggers.

I am encouraged also by the changes I see here on this site from its old days. The community here seems much more inviting.

I would also be interested in the days to come of having a static RP party, but probally after 2.0.

For now, I just want to get to know everyone in game in the RP community.

Please contact me in game or here. I think you would find Konner enjoyable.

Thank you!
Welcome to the community.
Welcome to the community. Careful with saying he's a samurai, I don't believe samurai are in the lore yet at all for Eorzea.
I must disagree. From the Final Fantasy 14 offical website:

'Yet despite this annual significance, a strange and powerful gift, newly come to Eorzea from a faraway land, has begun to divert the attention and admiration of people across the realm, both smallfolk and adventurer alike. Said to be a principle element in the celebration of Heavensturn in the Far East, it is a mighty helm masterfully spellforged in the likeness of a rabbit. Adorable to some, atrocious to others, and appealing to adventurers for its attractive attributes, this rare, leporine headpiece may prove attainable by those with festive proclivities.'

A Helm from the Far East. Samurais are well known warriors from the Far East in traditional cultures.

Here is a pic of said helm:

Here is a pic of a samurai helm:

You will note the similarities.

Here is a wiki link to samurais in Final Fantasy history:

Where as you are correct that samurai is not listed on the wiki for FF14, I will note that you refer to yourself as a dancer.

Here is a link to dancer in the final fantasy wiki:

You will note that dancer is not listed in the wiki for FF14 either.

However, we see 'dancers' in the miner's guild.

Neither a logical jump to being a dancer nor a samurai in this game is a far stretch even at this time.

I appreciate your concern, but the proof is here.

I can see the community has not changed as much as I thought.
If she said she was a ballerina, you can make the comparison. Dancer is the same as you saying he is a swordsman. Both general terms. Samurai is a very specific style of swordsmanship, etc. as ballet is a specific style of dancing. All she was saying, and I am echoing, is that Samurai despite previous games and look alike helms, is not yet in XIV, so you must wonder 1) how your character got the 'idea' of a samurai in his head, and 2) how others would react to a concept they've never heard of. That said, I understand that someday may very well see Samurai as a class/job in XIV.
Whoa. O_o No reason to get all defensive! That's cool you found some stuff to support it. I just meant by name is all!
