Just curious as to how people are RP'ing the newest race on the block.

-Raen or Xaela?
-What were they doing before they came to Eorzea?
-How did they come to Eorzea?
-Where do they fit in now?

My personal story is that Izayoi was a healer in her village, and due to it being so close to Doma she often travelled between the two nations. When Yugiri and her people rose up against the Garleans Izayoi kind of got caught up in it, and fled with them since she had no family to leave behind. Like other Au Ra she hid herself with a glamour for the most part (before Heavensward) and found it difficult to fit into Eorzean culture. Nowadays she is unglamoured and travelling the world as a healer/fortune teller.
I've only outlined the background, but it's not too dissimilar from your own. My thinking is that the key difference is that her escape to Eorzea was so recent that she never hid her heritage.

She understands the distrust leveled at her as she feels it herself, but she is nonetheless grateful to the Ul'dahns who have given her a chance at survival. She now seeks to carry the Rogue's code in exacting justice in support of the Flames.

Her interaction with her Raen cousins is limited but welcome as it is one point of familiarity among a wealth of uncertainty. She is wary of Xaela and usually won't approach them alone.
Well...I've pretty much got a book on Aiswynd at this point -laughs-

Xaela; They were wandering around Othard and basically surviving while being essentially a lost soul with no tribe or friends; ended up in a port town and got drunk with some Roegadyn 'merchants' who decided to take him along on their ship, he just wasn't informed of this until he woke up hung over on a ship out at sea; Aiswynd fits in!? Oh wait yea, he kinda has made a few friends, he's trying to run his own free company to be a home for wanderers and those without homes or families or just...stuff...and need a place.
Isaelt is a Xaela who traveled extensively before the Empire attack on Orthard. Leaving his tribe and seeing the land before staying closer to Doma, when the Empire came he found himself fleeing to Eorzea like many other refugees.

With the Ishgardian welcome and the turmoil in Eorzea he stuck to being a nomad at the fringe until things seemed to calm down and he noticed Au Ra more commonly in the populace. After that he more openly pursued his work as an alchemist until he was recruited to his free company.

A common theme I suspect will be figuring out how they dealt with being in Eorzea before Au Ra were 'accepted'.
Eke Tumet is Madda's Au Ra. She's Xaela.

Her story and such comes from the Tumet tribe's custom to tie their kids to a tree when they're old enough and travel wherever. If any kids manage to return, they get a name and a formal invitation to the tribe. Eke is not one of those people.

Eke did succeed in getting off the tree, but after that, because of being mostly sheltered by her mother, she was unable to find her way back and ended up wandering and living off the land. Living the life of a wanderer, she eventually met up with another Raen tribe (there's one that accepts and prefers it's new arrivals to be foreigners IIRC) and grew up there before hopping on a ship to Eorzea to escape the further persecution of the Empire.

Upon getting a ride to Thanlahn, Eke bummed around a bit before catching eye of the dancers in Ul'Dah. While most of them did have a rather seedy underside, she found the fluid motion of their moves and such interesting and strangely obsessive. With what little Gil she had, she continually purchased lessons while living in poor housing. Currently, she resides in the capital, currently trying to make endsmeet while also fueling her hobby of dancing.
Vachir Crimsonborn - formerly known as Vachir Toshin - is a male Xaela Au Ra from Othard. His tribe, the Toshin, lived along the Northern mountainsides of Othard, away from most other tribes and thus was rather unknown to the rest of the world, even other tribes.

They worshipped a god, Kharash, who turned out to be a voidsent summoned generations ago. His essence laid dormant in Vachir as the entire tribe was wiped out by the Garleans, assuring Vachir's survival. He fled to Doma and joined a resistance group, killing Garleans, until Doma was destroyed as well. He then fled to Eorzea along the many Domans.

While in Eorzea, he learned about the culture and customs of the Eorzeans (though he find most of it rather strange), but he is trying to carve his own path in this new, odd realm. He felt incredibly lonely though, even with his newfound friends, and wanted to make sure his god was still with him. In a foolish attempt to try and summon Kharash, the voidsent awakens within him and  takes over, almost killing them both. But by the effort of his friends, Vachir is freed from the dark entity which was ultimately destroyed.

Knowing his tribe had been living a lie for generations, that everything he believed in was nothing but deception, Vachir now has a hard time finding his place in the world, struggling with finding out where he belongs and what he should do with his life.

He is a hunter though, and he uses these skills to profit the mercenary company he is part of. His biggest wish is to one day be able to slay a Primal.
Well, I went with the Kha tribe to make here a wandering seeker of cultures. I also made her quite tribal, and that she considers this life to be a superior way than hiding behind walls in cities. Though she started in another tribe, she failed their trial and so was taken in by the Kha.

I am Sumi of the Kha, kohai to Xorxoi of the Kha.

I have been with the Kha since senpai noticed me and bid me follow him.I tended to his needs as he travelled to many lands, my blades there to protect him as needed. Then one day he bid me to set aside the steel, saying that if I held a blade all my options would involve using them. Since that day I walked as his student and no more as his servant.

It was in Sharlayan where I was to refine my learnings that my Master disappeared helping the Sharlayan's look for a lost sage beyond Ishgard.

It was at this time I was accepted as full Shaman of the Kha, and sent to Eorzea to gather its knowings and forbidden from searching for him.
After several attempts at creating the character, scrapping ideas, salvaging ideas and scrapping again. Like a Kantana that's been folded several times I've refined the story a lot from what I started out with. Without getting too into the details I'll answer the questions.

Raen or Xaela?
Raen

-What were they doing before they came to Eorzea?
Born a Garlean bastard child, later conscripted into military. Failed to carry out an order to kill civilians, runs from the military in fear of being court martial. Flees to motherland Doma, and she sought refuge by taking on a new name and becoming a shrine maiden. Learns to become a shinobi under the guidance of the head priest who also happened to be an elderly ninja (Won't elaborate more on this). Later flees with the rest of the refugees led by Yugiri.

-How did they come to Eorzea?
On a ship from Doma.

-Where do they fit in now?
ICly she looks after the refugees and orphans separated from their parents when they fled from Doma. When she has free time she wanders into cities and acts as a adventurer/traveler to learn more about the country they've settled into and gather intel. Her public image is that of a curious foreigner who wishes to learn more about the different culture, customs, their political hierarchy and relations with other nations, on the other hand she's a former Garlean soldier and trained Shinobi who excels in information gathering and assassination. Latter of which I'm still developing more, usually chances are you'll only see the former if you come across her ICly.
