The end is a week away and now it'€™s almost time to focus on new beginnings! The RPC, approaching its 3 anniversary in February, will soon be in full overdrive mode for preparing for A Realm Reborn. Below are some things already in planning. Please offer any feedback or additional things you’d like to see to make this a continued thriving hub for role-players!

--Graphics used on the site will be overhauled. This includes the banner, the background image, and colors. The overall structure and layout of the site will remain unchanged. Blade is, to my understanding, working on a new logo. A new background image is still necessary and nobody has volunteered for that. However, one may wish to work with Blade in this to ensure the background and logo match each other in colors/contrast.

--The Guild Hall will be purged. This is being done for a couple of reasons. 1: It's hard to truly know who’s active or plans to be active in ARR. 2: Almost all of the data listed is outdated anyway and this will force linkshells to update everything. All original posts will be saved for some time in the Chronicles subsection so if there’s any info someone needs to rebuild their post, that won't be a problem.

--An aggressive ad campaign will be underway when the time is right! To compliment this, we will be echoing our previous ad campaign used in the past by creating a teaser site for known ARR RP linkshells. If you wish to have a hand designing said teaser site, please speak up!

--Working on syncing up the calendar sidebar on the front page with the one on the forums.

--Forum section names may be changed to something more simplistic for ease of usage. For instance, Hydaelyn Observatory ---> Final Fantasy XIV Discussion, etc. Feedback on this is encouraged.

--Addition of new moderators and removal of MIA/inactive ones. Who thinks they're up to the task? Tongue

--Considering changing the "Website"€ column in the member list to a Lodestone character link column. In addition to this, I may add a means via your user profile to add a main character's name to your posts (such as how one's linkshell is displayed).

--Please help expand the myriad of lore on the wiki. There's plenty there already but a number of pages are still lacking in pictures, detail, and so on! It's easier than ever to /add/ new pages as well with the new simple to use interface. In addition, don'€™t forget to update your character'€™s profile after November 11th! Remember that we'€™re about to fast-forward five whole years! Well...maybe not all of us Tongue

--Planning with member linkshell leaders the Eorzean Olympics via the Leaders'€™ forum section. This will hopefully launch within our anniversary AND ARR's launch, offering a large myriad of RP events right from the launch of the game! What better way to help reunite people after being in stasis all this time while at the same time celebrating three years of having successfully united the RP community on Besaid/Balmung, eh!?

--Journal/blog section. Please offer feedback on how you'€™d like to see this in the appropriate thread.

--Rebirth of a myriad of RP discussions during the server downtime to foster healthy discussions between RPers.

Please give feedback on any of the above you feel the need to and offer your own suggestions not listed here.
Would you mind expanding a little on what exactly is expected of moderators? The duties and everything? I assume it's mostly just making sure that rules aren't broken and things like that.
*dry washes hands* I could moderate... oh yes... moderate... *cackles meniacally*

*ahem* Sorry about that. Any way, I look forward to the changes, in the game and the RPC site. I haven't been around much lately (been busy working my ass off ;0) But I am fully committed to this game and this community. Ready for some awesome times! Keep up the good work everyone!
I would volunteer to be a sort of.. contributor (news, informative posts, feedback), but not a moderator!

Looking forward to seeing this transition. Smile
Always willing to lend a hand~ Would be up for a moderator/development position, if needed. I've schooling in Java/jQuery/C++/HTML/CSS and databasing. Not to mention experience with graphics~

Please let me know if I can be of use! Using a newer, flashier way of coding will give the site a fresh start and some nice appeal. Sharp looks, fading, rotating image boxes, custom fonts, CUSTOM EVERYTHING. FFXIV is getting a facelift, so should the RPC~

I think it would be a neat idea to get a list together of forums that people like visually, and see what we all can come up with in the ways of ideas! If you can find it, it can be coded. If you can dream it, it probably can be too~

Moderators simply keep an eye on the forums and make sure none of the rules are broken. Their biggest task is likely deleting posts from spam bots as they come (gil sellers, etc), moving threads to the appropriate places, and keeping important threads updated. The important thing for moderators is that they visit the forums frequently (preferably daily if able). Moderators ideally should also take the initiative in posting news in the Headlines if other users have not done so first. Keeping the forums active while ensuring as non-bias of an opinion as possible is generally a good thing as well.

I'm not sure I really want to redesign the entire site from scratch. It's taken a long time and a lot of hard work to get it where it is now function-wise. I'm pretty content with the overall layout and user interface, though I'm open to suggestions of course. The only thing changes really necessary are purely graphical (banner, background, colors, etc)

The aforementioned teaser site for linkshells/companies is something that requires from the ground up building though. So that may be right up your alley, Deir (and no, not the alley you're thinking of!). Preferably something flashy, but simple as well. This was our last teaser site: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/guildteasers
I'm willing to volunteer as a moderator for here, if you find me fit for the job of course.

*cackles maniacally* *polishes banhammer*

(I'm not that strict, I promise!)
Rebirth of the website to mirror the rebirth of the game?

I like it.
Good to know. I'm going to need to carefully evaluate the role I'm going to play in ARR before I really decide on anything, though. I don't want to spread myself too thin.
Could I request there be a 'newest posts' tab?

*I can't clearly at the moment, not sure if it was mentioned*.

I think a lot of people use the "View unread posts" on the board index for that. Is that sort of what you're looking for?

It's not quite the same, actually, as whenever you've read a post it disappears from the list. Some people prefer to be able to see the stuff they've visited too.

Go to Board Index and click View Active Topics. It doesn't appear in forum sections, though.

Ah! Thanks Leanna
