All that Remains....
Location: In Orbit above Ord Mantell
The blue green orb of Ord mantell grows larger in the transparasteel veiwport as the silver shuttle darts ahead through the icy Blackness, intrupted by the blazing multi-collored streaks of turbolaser fire.
The shuttle crew barks commands into the comlink as the small shuttle prepares for re-entry, a small group of troopers ride in the back, some making small talk, others napping, some are tapping away at datapads. There is one trooper that shuts down his datapad and closes his eyes, pondering the situation report he just read....That trooper is Me..
Hello... my name is Aidenn... where am i from? Gressa III, a small lightly developed planet in the Outer Rim. Right around the time i was born there was a military Coup and planetary control was siezed by a group of elite military officers. Since my father was highly ranked in the security force, he was given a comfortable position in the newly formed Junta. I grew up in one of the government compounds and had a pleasent childhood. Being from a military family, martial training was always a big part of my education, and by the time i was 14 i was skilled with both blaster and blade and quite fit. There were other Kids from military families at the compound and I often spent time playing with them, or sparing, one in particular a Human female Named Kalyn Merkav really won my attention and we turned into both friends and rivals, each trying to best the other in sparing or other activities. Over the course of the next year events were set in motion, the people upset with the way the Junta was ruling the planet began to protest and resist and the violence escalated. Inside the compound life didn't really change, except for maybe some more security, but the holo-vids told a different story, daily Bombings, attacks on the military and other act of terrorism filled the screens. After some time there were those in the military that began to doubt the government. Then on that one day my world came to an end....
The day started normal enough, I was out with Kalyn doing some target shooting at the range, then as we were walking back there were several loud explosions and alarms began sounding over the loudspeakers while uniformed security officers started scrambling in every direction. Kalyn looked a bit worried under her usual icy cold calmness and excused herself, running off in the direction of her home. I clutched my training carbine and sprinted to my own house. As i ran i could hear bits and pieces of of the security troops conversations over the comm, saying stuff about trying to keep the walls from being breached, and where to position troops. At last i reached the large palace for the elite officers that housed my family and i wasted no time running up there stairs and trying to locate my mother and father.
People were running all over the place and seemed to be preparing to evacuate, I choked down the panic I was begining to feel as I reached the third floor where my family lived. I was yelling for my family and searching around despratly until I heard a familier voice call my name, it was Thortan Vess a good friend of my fathers. "Aidenn where the hell have you been, everything is falling apart rebels are storming the compound, your family has already evacuated I stayed here to wait for you" he said trying to keep as calm as he could " we have to get off planet, there is a bulk cruiser waiting in orbit, and shuttles are leaving as fast as they can" his words were cut short as a blast shook the whole building. "they breached the compound!" a young nervous lieutenant shouted as a cadre of blaster rifle equiped troopers moved to take up defensive positions at the windows. "here Aidenn take this, and try to get to the spaceport, it's about a click and a half away but you can make it boy" he said as he firmly thrust a Czerka Corp PD-117 personal defence blaster pistol into my hand. I gave him a quick nod and slipped the blaster into my belt, putting the training carbine over my shoulder on a strap. Suddenly there is a loud blast as a hover tank glides into the courtyard, crashing into a decorative fountain destroying it. "How did they get a Tank?" one of the soldiers yelps as the wall suddenly explodes taking out most the second story floor of the room. I took to my feet again as I braced for a second round from the tank. " We can't hold out here any longer, we have to fall back to the second line and try to defend from there" the officer shouts. " Aiden you have to go now, make it to the spaceport you can make it off the base if you cut around by the maintenance building" Thortan says in a low voice. "But what about kalyn? I have to find her" I said trying to sound as resolute as i could. "Boy this place is comming apart you have to get off planet with the others, she might already be at the spaceport with her family" he said staring at me with intensity. I nod my head and turn on heel, giving him one last before running off to the back stairway. I hit the ground level and immediately made my way toward the spaceport, still planning how two cover all that distance without getting blasted.
