Yo!  I just joined this site a few days ago and got an awesome welcome so thank you all for that!  Now I'm trying to come up with a concept for my character, a Miqo'te named R'ihkshi Tia.  He's a Seeker of the Sun.

I've been trying to think up concepts while I play (and also while I binge watch Parks and Rec) but so far I haven't come up with anything solid.  I've been doing research on the race and stuff and my struggle is coming up with a concept that is original, believable, and one that can allow me to RP without being that brooding person in the corner that other people have to walk up to interact with.  I have no problem with that, I simply prefer initiating RP myself.

So!  I'll put down a few of my ideas below and I'd appreciate any feedback you all have to offer.  I'm still very new to the game so I would like the opinions of veterans who know the lore more than I do Smile

Note, these ideas are very basic and nowhere near fleshed out.

1.  Hard-shelled nerd.  This one is probably my favorite.  In this scenario he would live in one of the cities.  I read that the Miqo'te are common in that deserty place but I like the oceany one a lot so far.  While an introverted concept he would most likely feel compelled to be social on occasion due to the fact that he'd be pretty smart and feel the need to be smart at people.  This could change.  Again, this is just a very basic idea that is very must subject to change.  He'd have a pretty tough exterior and may come off as a rough asshole but if one really got to know him they'd discover something different on the inside.  Well-read, interested in stories, cares about where he lives, that sort of stuff.  I'll be honest, I really love Parks and Rec and had a dream about a mixture of Ron and Ben, hence this concept and my love of it.  He'd probably have left his tribe due to not feeling like he fit in and wanting a more solitary life.

2.  Thief seeking righteousness.  I had this idea at work a few days ago.  In this scenario he would have stolen something (most likely from a city) in order to help someone in his tribe, perhaps an ailing elder or someone.  He would've been seen and tracked back to the tribe.  He would've gotten into a bunch of trouble and chosen to leave so as not to bring shame/authorities or whatever to the tribe.  And now he would try to make up for what he did in small ways.  Hey, maybe this could even be combined with option 1 as the reason for him leaving his tribe.  Could be a reason for not being around the deserty place and instead be in the oceany place.  Thoughts?

3.  Inexperienced adventurer.  I don't like this idea as much but I thought I'd put it here just in case to get opinions and whatnot.  Young guy, leaves his tribe for (money?  glory?  knowledge?  to see the world?).  Is able to go to many places and learn stuff and work for money, learn new trades.  This one's very basic and not very fleshed out.

I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say!  Thanks in advance!
Miqo'te are everywhere on Eorzea really. The trope of Desert cats is mostly just based on one tribe we have the pleasure of meeting, and well, people wanting their exotic dancer catte waifus. You can easily be from La Noscea or Limsa if you want a more sea like feel. I'm not sure if any tribe directly comes from it though, Sounsyy can probably inform you a bit better on that. But most of the races in Eorzea are all over the place to some degree.

Either way, all look fun to me. It's up to you after all what you like RPing after all Big Grin Honestly, you could roll with the most basic and bare of stereotypes at the end of the day, and work it awesomely.
I like a combination of the first and the second option. Also remember you don't have to have everything fully fleshed out because you can do more of that as you grow and learn your character and the lore more intimately. The nifty thing here is that you can keep those things you think of as holes in your back story as secrets your guy holds close to his chest.

Desert city - Ul'dah
Ocean city - Limsa Lominsa
Woodsy city - Gridania

I'm still figuring all kinds of stuff out myself and have added some back story tidbits as I've learned. The first, and most important thing, in my opinion, is to work out your guys personality, view of the world, beliefs, actions, quirks, strengths, and weaknesses that are lore independent. The rest will come in time.

Welcome to Eorzea! I think I can at least help you out on the lore side of things. To start off, all of your basic concepts work within the lore so no issues with building upon whichever one you want to go for. One thing that caught my attention was that you wanted to be from Limsa Lominsa (oceany city) instead of Ul'dah (deserty city) and just wanted to let you know that this is totally fine! In fact, Miqo'te can be found everywhere in Eorzea, but while the "desert cat" is a popular theme, most Miqo'te tribes can actually be more commonly found in Limsa Lominsa.

Lodestone Wrote:Though relatively few in Eorzea, a small number of them have been accepted into everyday life by the other races in the port city of Limsa Lominsa. Others are known to make their home in the region of the Sagolii Desert.

Here's some lore links you might find helpful to read over for your character if you're interested:
-Racial Lore Compilation (There's a pull down tab specifically for Miqo'te lore!)
-Miqo'te Tribal Distribution [2.3] (This is an old thread mapping out Miqo'te NPC populations in game. Note that most Tribes can be found in Limsa!)
-Class/Job Lore Compilation (Being a haughty nerd from Limsa, you might want to check out Arcanist lore!)
-Hydaelyn Geography Lore
-Settlements in Eorzea Pre-Calamity
-Eorzean City-states' Political Structures Lore

Hope this helps! ^^ Lemme know if you need more lore help!
If you need a bit of help fleshing out who your character is, I've always found this 100 Questions thread to be extremely helpful when I make a new character.

Considering you aren't 100% familiar with the lore and all, I'm sure you'll want to acquaint yourself with that for a while before diving in but I'll put this here for when you decide to get to it or even fill it out as you go. Hope this helps and best of luck to you!
Figured I would throw in an idea for you. Generally speaking, A Seeker male that is a Tia, and has not become a Nunh can either challenge the clan Nunh to replace him, or he can leave the clan and start his own clan.

So as a thought, what if your character's father was the previous Nunh who was defeated by the current Nunh. But lost to the current Nunh only a few years after you were born, and he was driven from the clan by the current Nunh. Maybe the two were bitter rivals or something, I don't know. That's up to you. But anyway, the current Nunh isn't mean or nasty or anything. He's just still young and very strong. So for one reason or another (I'm thinking maybe the previous Nunh was really strong and was well-revered in the clan. Maybe he was a male who remained Nunh for the longest time until recently. Again, up to you), you leave the clan and seek out your own glory and power.
One thought is that in so doing this, you traveled to Limsa and joined the pirates. Just one thought. But it might not be a bad backstory, since that's what it seems like you're trying to concoct here.
