They tell you everyone has a price, and for Merrick it's true. There was a time in his life when his need for money was so great he'd do anything--and he simply never stopped.
Who: Merrick Lockwood, a wandering sellsword with no set address. Professionally he has a reputation for efficiency and, if a job calls for it, brutality. He's done everything from escorts to assassination. Privately he rarely tells people exactly what he does, calling himself a mercenary and relating only his most prosaic jobs.
What: Anything. Have you hired him before? Want to be his handler? Frustrated ex-lover? An upcoming mark? Underworld element he's run afoul of or worked alongside? Someone who knew him before he started down the path he's on? Family? Let's chat. He's also got some skill with magic and I'm more than happy to get him involved in arcane plots. He's also available to serve as a villain, with a few stipulations we can discuss if the subject comes up.
When: Anyone who plays with me on the regular can tell you my schedule is all over the place. It's essential to arrange first meetings ahead of time--otherwise they'll probably never happen.
Why: On the surface Merrick is usually pleasant enough, and seems like the sort of guy it'd be nice to have a beer with. While he can tend towards melancholy, it's largely situational. For someone willing to dig, there's more depth to the character, and depending on how you go either a steadfast ally or the makings of tragic betrayal.
