Hydaelyn Role-Players

Hey guys! I've been lurking around here for a good long while and finally decided I would drop in officially and introduce myself. I'm currently active on the Siren server, though I do have a character on Balmung. I only have time for one character, honestly, so unfortunately I haven't spent any time on the latter in ages. I'm interested to see if there are any other Siren players here.


MMORPG Background
I started out over 15 years ago on Ultima Online. It was there I learned exactly what RP is and how much I enjoyed the immersive effect it had on my play. I also thoroughly enjoyed the sandbox feel and appreciate what that style of MMO offers for an RP community. That being said, the structure of games like FFXIV provides a nice backbone for RP as well. I bounced around a bit after UO, eventually settling into FFXI as my second major MMO commitment. I stayed there for many years until I eventually dropped the subscription model for financial reasons. I went on to play Guild Wars 2 and a host of other F2P games before I fell in love with FFXIV: ARR shortly after it released. While I haven't been subbed for the whole time since, I have spent the majority of my online time with FFXIV for two of the last three years. 


RP Style
I consider myself a more casual RPer. I call it "immersion," where basically I flow with the world and try and become a part of it, fitting my character into his role there. I do enjoy the occasional structured event as it provides an element of existence outside the main story of FFXIV, and I've always been more interested in what the "lesser heroes" do moreso than the Saviors of the World, so to speak. I enjoy being the innkeeper with a secret, or the sellsword with a wry sense of humor, or the old ranger that everybody avoids. Those type of storylines leave far more room for growth and storytelling, in my opinion.


Servers
As I said I have characters on Balmung and Siren, but I also have undeveloped alts across several other NA servers that basically act as placeholders and base layers for character concepts I've started. Archebald is my character on Siren and is currently my only active project, though admittedly RP there tends to be non-existent. My time is fairly limited as I have a full-time job that requires me to be on-call 24-7, a family, two writing projects, and a volunteer commitment in my community. One character is all I really have time for in an MMO right now, and a strictly regimented RP schedule is not feasible for me.


If there is anyone else here from Siren, hit me up! I'm usually on 20:00-23:00 CST, sometimes longer on the weekends. I'd like to see others with at least a mild interest in immersive play around.

I've found that RP for me is almost quite non-existent there, and I have yet to actually find any of the rumored roleplayers upon that server. I had been briefly taking a look into Mateus until, but I have been quite drawn away recently as result of my own writing work. Most of what I have been doing is just a bit of casual forum RP, but I'd be up for trying to meet up sometime!

Fe'lanah, in the shortest essence of a description, is akin to a lone survivalist hippie, so that should hopefully say where she stands on most things. I have another character I am still fleshing out correctly, but he resides on Mateus currently as sort of my scouting character.

Well welcome to Hydaelyn Roleplayer's Coalition! As far as Siren RP goes, I do hope you the best in finding some players who can get together with you and get something started. It can be difficult when its not a primary RP Hub. I do wish you good luck though!

Hello and welcome to the RPC! I think that is fine style of RP to look for and you shouldn't have much trouble finding it on balmung. Other servers might be tougher...

Great to meet you as well, Amnesic! Honestly, I thought I would be the only Siren here, so your response came as a wonderful surprise to me. I actually started on Mateus three years ago, but I moved that character to Balmung some time ago but have lost the motivation to keep him going for now, hence why I'm on Siren at present. I have seen a couple of RP FCs around, but most are closed for recruitment (some rebuilding, working on specific projects with their current members, etc. and so not accepting new applicants). My current FC doesn't provide any sort of RP or immersion experience, and the only RP contact I've made hasn't been online in almost a month.

Ah I joined at a great time! I'm also in Siren and have been looking for an RP set up. I haven't done very much, but I'm really interesting in beginning roleplaying soon. If you don't mind a very inexperienced person I'm down anytime!
