Trying to stay a little more lore-friendly than her past incarnations. I'm still not terribly excited about miqote lore, and kind of pull away from it in favor of the more "mixed culture" experience, though. Hopefully this is a reasonable middle-ground for a believable Sunseeker female?

— [sup]Name[/sup]: Keeki Bun — [sup]Birthname[/sup]: J'keeki Bahn —
[sup]Residence[/sup]: Limsa Lominsa
[sup]Occupation[/sup]: Mercenary for Hire

[sup]Age[/sup]: Late teens / Early twenties (not sure yet)

Born to a small tribe of the J people, J'keeki Bahn was one of the daughters of the tribe's leader, J'bahn. They resided on the border of Gridanian and Ala Mhigan territory up until the war dismantled a good number of tribes in the region. Bahn and his tia fought to protect themselves and neighboring Ala Mhigans they fought for and managed to protect what was theirs. However, his youngest son, J'kier, had plotted to usurp the tribe's Nunh for some time, and took his post-battle, weakened state to do so. Kier murdered his two brothers with the help of those who found themselves disagreeing with Bahn's tendency to meddle with "playing hero" to Ala Mhigans in need.

When Kier took power over the small tribe, his first course of action was to either eliminate or sell off any Tia who were loyal to Bahn or any females who were useless to him (his sisters, unless they pledged loyalty to him.) One of the younger daughters of Bahn, J'keeki, of course, would pledge no such loyalty and favored her father's ways. She and her sisters were either bartered with other tribes or local slavers for "more useful" female stock or they were sold for resources.

Keeki was bought as a servant by a wealthy family of Lominsan traders and tinkerers. This stroke of luck lead her to spend much time around machinery and ships, which would eventually become her passion in life. As she grew older, she worked off her debt to this family and bought her freedom. She remains on good terms with the family who took her in—they weren't slave drivers by any means.

Now, she lives on her own in Lominsa, having carved out her own small corner in the cheapest of residential districts. She took up technical work to make ends meet, having learned to repair a number of machines from the family who formerly owned her. After two years of this, she decided to do more than just dabble in the occasional smuggling and dirty hand for hire. She now does small time mercenary work, taking duties from local guilds and free companies in need of an extra hand. Her dreams have grown, now, expanding to the hopes of traveling the world.

As for J'kier, she hopes to one day cross paths with her brother again, if only to avenge Bahn. Under J'kier, the subsect of the J people whom she once called her tribe and family are now nomads travelling the Sagolii, occasionally getting into territorial tiffs with the more established residential tribes. Many have heard of J'kier and call him a "joker" or a "joke" and see his tribe of gamblers and thieves as bottom-feeders in comparison to the rest of the more honorable J nation. Due to this, Keeki tends to withhold her birthname's "J" to avoid criticism and question over her more notorious brother's history.

Keeki has almost all of abandoned her Sunseeker lineage. She was young when she was sold and most of her culture and language seemed to be left behind when she was taken in by the Lominsans. Her name was linguistically assimilated (anglicized, for lack of a better term,) from J'keeki Bahn to a simpler, more Hyuran-sounding "Keeki Bun" on paper. Despite all of this, part of her wants to rediscover her origin and mother culture, but only when the pain of her past allows for it.

— Personality & Nature —
Keeki walks a grey area between introverted and extroverted. She keeps to herself and values her independence and solitude, but has little difficulty injecting her into the fray. Her nature is light and humor-oriented, to the point of being something of a joker. She is a skilled fighter, but far from undefeated. Her shortcomings are often of her own hubris, occasionally overestimating her abilities or making clumsy choices. Despite that, she has a fair enough store of sheer luck that gets her out of the tight spaces she often gets herself into.

She's good-natured, in general. Her leaning is closer to chaotic good than neutral. She will do the right thing to help others in need, even if she has to do the wrong thing to help them.

In general, she could be described as affable, but she will turn and bolt when a deal starts to smell fishy. No miqo-pun intended.

— Pastimes & Goals —
While her general passion in life is for travel and tinkering with machines, her kick-back hobbies are fishing and cooking. Perhaps as a part of growing up in Limsa, the art of fishing in rivers, lakes, and the sea are a staple of her experience. She's known to fund her travels often entirely for the opportunity to land a rare catch. Perhaps in her golden years, she'll retire as an angler or culinarian. As for cooking, she enjoys learning and trying new recipes. She'll guzzle down food like air to fuel her constant roaming and running. Sometimes cooking is her way of unwinding. Her skill is average—sometimes she strikes gold with a recipe, other times she encourages those eating with her to pray before their meal. Just in case.

Perhaps as a remnant of her past with the J tribe, she has a natural talent for spearfishing in rivers. It's almost like a bloody party-trick. On the bright side, you can count on her to catch the party a good basket of trout if everyone's ever camped at a river's edge.

Her long term goals, in short, are travel and $$$gil$$$. If she could text, she would probably (ironically) have gil/money/currency in her phone set to autocorrect as $$$casHMONEY$$$.

She wanna retire rich and catch fish for days.
Sounds good enough to me, yet I'm not an expert on lore. I do know that the slave trade is basically punishable by death in most cases everywhere in Eorzea, but it's not terribly out of the question; it still happens a lot by what lore suggests, and I'd likely think that the family who bought her believed she was a servant or something along that line, (of course, they could just have known it, but her treatment seems to me like they might not have). It's also not uncommon for Miqo'te to drop their culture in favor of Eorzea's, both of mine are far-gone from theirs.

All-in-all, I like it! I'd likely never meet you in-game being as I'm always on the forums, but I have a nurse/medic character in Limsa I'm putting the finishing details on if you'd be up for Forum RP. Anyroad, I hope I answered a question or two for you, I'm not one of the resident lore wizards so I can't give too much.
Sounds like a pretty awesome writeup to me! There's a lot of potential directions you could go with her, and that's really the acid test of a character.
Yep, totally agree. She sounds like a solid character. You've got a background that includes motivating events, and you've got goals and drives for her that make her a three dimensional character.

Gimme a ping if you want to let her be hired out by a criminal element, by the way. We could use some more cannon fodderskilled mercenaries in our plots and schemes.
Woohoo! A fellow Limsan fishercat! Welcome to the prrrrride!

....and on another note, I really like her backstory! Sounds like a neat lil' twist on Seeker Tribes and the thing about her brother being eeeevil is pretty awesome! Nothing like some baaad blood inna Tribe huuuuue.
