Hydaelyn Role-Players

Hello, everyone!

I'm a European roleplayer (UTC+2), I've only just started playing FFXIV, and in an effort to kickstart my character's story, I am looking for people who would like to join me, be that as friends, professional connections, childhood rivals or even family!

The last one is going to take a little explaining.

So! I play a young female Miqo'te called A'riali Soro (The surname is subject to change, naturally). She's about 20-21 years of age, and lives in Gridania with her foster family. She's a natural talent with the bow, and so mostly helps the realm by hunting the various animals of the forest, be it for food or population control. Now restless, she has begun traveling to see more of the world while she's still in her prime.

I'm hoping such a concept will let me learn of the world while she does, since I'm not quite familiar with the lore of Eorzea yet. The fun part for me is that such a character can pretty much grow into anything.

So what I'm looking for, really, is people who might like to interact with her in some way! Friendly people with whom I can slowly learn the ropes. This can be new friends, childhood friends, archery rivals, the medic that kept needing to patch her up, an older veteran who really doesn't want to see a naive adventuring youth throw her life away...Ex-boyfriends..Really, I am open to anything.

In addition to that, I am looking for something in particular: Miqo'te who might be willing to play as her biological family.
As I said before, A'riali was orphaned at youth and taken in by another family. This leaves a giant mystery to be solved, and I think it would be far more interesting to have her original parents be actual players, if that option is there!
I understand it's a bit of a long shot, as such a character would need to be much older then Ari's 20 years. It would be great to have such people out in the world that you can potentially run into someday,though, certainly more so then NPC's.

Due to positive experiences, I am now also looking for players willing to play A'riali's adoptive brother, sister, or even mother or father!

I'd decided she grew up amongst Elezen, but I am open to changing that if an interested party steps forward! It wouldn't be very hard at all to do. Therefore, if your character is Gridanian and seeking an adoptive relative, please get in touch so we can discuss it!

Lastly, I am also looking for an RP Free Company to join! Preferably one that holds events and roleplay at times suitable to Europeans as well. Also curious about linkshells!

I like, simple and lore grounded backgrounds. Can't offer family since Keeper, but can offer RP around Gridania backstories for sure!

Small note, Seekers don't really have surnames in the surname sense. Females have their own first name and the first name of their sire, and males have their own name plus their social status (tia or nunh).

A lot of the things (90%) are NA focused but there is a plentiful and active EU bunch around. So you should be able to find some RP connections.

Check out the European Directory, while not comprehensive it is probably the best starting point.

And if you want to meet a passing odd-witch, I'd be happy to have Nebula run into A'riali.

I could offer my main character on Balmung, Fennella Barlowe, as a contact.

She is a female Hyur of about the same age as your character who has grown up in the Twelveswood (Black Shroud) and currently lives in Gridania proper, so it would seem quite possible they would have met at some point while growing up.

Fennella currently makes a living as a crafter, mainly woodworking but also works with leather and bone occasionally. So if your character ever needs a new bow (or other items) they might meet that way.

(I too play during EU times, so timezones should not be a major problem.)

And I'm learning already.

Though, considering A'riali is supposed to have been adopted by a non Miqo'te family, I think I will keep the surname, as it's supposed to be the surname of her adoptive parents, rather then her biological ones. (Hence, subject to change!)

RE: Skae - Yes, I definitely think they would've been childhood friends, if one is a woodworker and one an archer I can even imagine they do business to this day! I would like that I think, and will try to be in touch!

Sadly I'm not in EU myself- more NA- but you could probably find me during the weekends at least. I can tick the checkbox of 'older' veteran mentoring with Kasi- she's 32 (is 32 old? Damn) with 17 years of combat experience, from the tribes in the Twelveswood, an ex-soldier with the Twin Adders, and makes a living these days as a wandering mercenary, trader, and cook (that might also possess significant underworld/criminal connections- ahem). That said, she's a huge proponent of looking out for and helping kin- essentially any Miqo'te. You could probably call Kasi a bit of a racial nationalist.

In any case, you're more than welcome to run into her sometime!

I'd love to set up a connection! I actually have a redheaded Miqo'te that looks suspiciously similar who I played as a mother in the past...that was I was planning to re-work into an entirely new character/storyline since I haven't used her in years and my previous connections no longer play  

I'd happily work out the details of playing her mother, or older sister or aunt... Anything really haha! Or I could just be a childhood contact instead! We'll work out something good I'm sure! I think we have similar active hours as well, except I sleep less

I've had some amazing success in this thread, and I'm very gratefull for everybody who replied here, most of whom I've also met in-game and have had great times with. This community is amazing!

I'l try to contact anyone who wants to meet her so that we can set something up too, the more the merrier.

Maybe A'zaza could join in after I transfered to Balmung. She's a Miqo'te as well and the daughter of an Ul'dahnian aristocrat who leads a double life (her, not her parents altough they could have secrets, too), being the well-behaved fine lady on the outside but a macabre researcher doing forbidden experiments on the inside.
Crazy idea but maybe she could be a biological sibling of A'riali which was also adopted - but by a different family of Hyuran nobles that can't have their own children. This would mean the two of them probably don't even know of each other at first. (I hope it's not a problem if she has purple hair, although I know it from my own brother that siblings don't have to have the same hair colour )

Unless they were twins I think it would be pretty unlikely that A'ri would have a bio-sis...
And even that would be a stretch considering they didn't end up together with the same family.

I don't think it would be hard to find a reason why they were seperated (I'm good at improvising stuff like that :'D) or cousins could also work.
