In a number of threads made by individuals just joining the RPC, I've felt the best choice has been to explain the situation with Balmung and Gilgamesh, and then leave links to this thread and the Server Directory Thread, and then to let them make their own decision based on the information available then. Obviously I wouldn't mind saying, 'Come on over to Mateus,' as I've become one of a number of RP'ers seeking to foster a healthy and growing RP community on that server, but it would've felt deceitful not to let people know all the alternatives and arrive at their own conclusion.
I'm currently on Moogle but I find the RP community small and if there is one they probably speak all French , which is a language I dont speak / understand. So I am looking for an RP server my aim was to go to either Balmung or Gilgamesh but I can't transfer due to SE's blocking that. So I want to know which server has alternative solutions for this ?

Currently there is Mateus over on NA's side, and if you're looking for an EU one it might be worth waiting until Stormblood when the new EU servers are live. One of them will be designated the unofficial EU RP server by the community and it's possible a good portion of the EU crowd will build up there over time.
The Rainmaker event started. It's 8pm PST and there is a 1200 person queue. Gold Saucer will not let players in. Ul'dah is unstable.

Welcome to Balmung. Apparently we crashed the Steps of Nald too.
And people wonder why SE put up the block on transfers to Balmung. I truly hate to see how SB will look.

I've been peeking at a few servers just to see what is going on and reading reviews on others. So far my vote goes to Mateus should I ever decide to leave or make an alt. I have one on Faerie already but I haven't seen the RP community there much if at all.
We are still doing fairly well over here on Mateus and we have a general RP Mateus HUB if anyone like to peek in and see what's up: https://discord.gg/HPbYNFU

I do hope things are also going well on the other alternate servers as well, though I do wish they would also speak up. While I love seeing the growing community on Mateus, it be nice to see the other communities also grow... And while it does suck what has happened to my old home of Balmung...

There is at least hope within the smaller servers to branch into nice roleplay areas. Including taking advantage of the things we have learned and things we wish we knew when we first started out. Its the wild, wild west out there-- and I suppose if the other servers don't speak up, it never stops someone from trying to get something rolling.

Much like those guys on Ultros! They are trying to get stuff going as well!

I honestly couldn't believe it, Stormblood is going to be a mess.

The situation really is pretty dire.
The data server transfer to make it stable wasn't really helping for Make It Rain event. After all, it is Balmung. And this explains that Stormblood will be worse.
This is why the enforcement of blocking transfers into Balmung should've been in effect long ago and why it IS, in fact, okay to "split" the RP community to another server.

I'd like to think that with Stormblood, maybe after the first 2 weeks (upon initial launch, not early access) the Devs will patch the shit out of things and Balmung will be stable?????

Wishful thinking....

I even hit actual queues on Cactaur on this one.  Though Nald didn't crash there.
I'm not sure what was up last night, but it decidedly wasn't just Balmung centric.

Cactuar's on Aether with Balmung and Gilgamesh so that was most likely a contributor. Probably the same thing we'll see in 2 weeks.

Faerie, Lich, Mataeus, and Ultros all seem to have upcoming RP communities.  There are smaller communities on a few other servers as well.   Toss a feeler out in the Making Connections forum (I think this is the right place) with what you're looking for, RP wise, and see what gets a hit.

Yeah, I'm somewhat expecting it.
Though from the last housing debacle, I know Cactaur operated well enough while Balmung exploded horribly, so I really wasn't expecting it.  This was the first real test of the new servers as well, hopefully they learn a bit from analyzing what happened.
Meep meep. Updated just this morning.
