I joined this forum about a year ago, but never really got around to introducing myself because I didn't RP.
I have been playing FFXIV off and on since around the time the Golden Saucer was added. My biggest problem with the game wasn't that it wasn't fun to play, but that I never really seemed to build a core of friends or community that compelled me to play beyond PvE shenanigans. I can only run duty roulettes so many times before I just lose interest for a few patch cycles and then play catch up after.
I have always been interested in roleplaying, and it's something I actually used to do years ago. I roleplayed on a Fire Emblem forum for quite some time, around 7 or so years actually. It is kind of an embarrassing thing to admit, but at the time I was going through a real rough patch in my life and it was one of the few things that made me happy. It was some of the best time I've ever wasted.
The site sort of fell apart though, the people on it all graduated from college and got jobs and got married. They didn't have time for it, and I was losing interest myself. I was starting college and found myself with only the free time to do one of my hobbies, and I chose video games.Â
I joined this site back when I was thinking about rping on Balmung, where my main is. Only I was scared away. Not by anyone in particular, but by my own insecurities. I felt like I would make a huge fool of myself, and maybe even alienate the few people who I was sort of friends with who had kind of a hate boner for rpers.
With the small groundswell of people planning on rping on Mateus, I felt like it would be a good time to start fresh with a smaller group of people. It doesn't bother me too much to make a new character, as I have a strange fascination of running through the main story like a million times.Â
