Hi everyone!
Name's Whimsy, level 69 (hurhur) on the Omega server and just trying to get that last exp push to 70!
Loving the game itself so far, though I'm sure there's much I have to learn.
I have plenty of experience in roleplaying and love DMing and drawing characters!
Hoping to find some of that sweet RP on Omega and meet some people.

If anyone has any sites or videos useful to learn some more in depth lore I would appreciate a few links!

Many thanks,

W.
Hello Whimsy and welcome!
I for one don't know much where Lore can be seen, aside from the wikia, the official Lore Book (Encyclopedia Eorzea) and the ingame quest messages, but i think you can check some of it in here.

Hey Whimsy! Welcome to Hydaelyn and the RPC! There's a ton of places to find lore: the best place is in the game itself, but also from the RPC's own wiki linked above (although this is somewhat outdated); Gamerescape has the Lore Train articles as well as Lorecast, which is a series of interviews with world lore creator Koji Fox aka Fernehalwes; there's also XIVDB's Lore Finder; and ChrysalisWiki.

As a long-time loremonger, avoid finalfantasy.wikia (Final Fantasy Wiki) like the plague. It has a huge problem with not sourcing its information and there's a lot of misinformation swirling around the site's pages.

If you're more into youtube videos, search for Ethys Asher who has cornered the lore market on video guides. That said, Ethys's videos aren't recommended for people just getting into the lore. Some of his videos have theorycraft based on lore and real world mythos. He's very informative (and great to listen to) but sometimes there's misinformation even in his lore-focused videos due to condensing a large amount of lore into a relatively short video segment. It's a quirk of the medium.

On the Official Lore Forums, look for posts by Anonymoose. Without a doubt one of the foremost loremongers there. His favorite topics are campfires about the unknown though, but he does a great job of laying out exactly what we know already in laymen terms.

Finally, if the combination of all of those sites, search functions, and digging through thousands of posts seems daunting, that's usually where I try to come in. I'm pretty active here and on tumblr answering people's lore questions using source text that I've dug up over the years. So if you've got questions about a topic, check out my Lore Index to see if I've already covered it. If not, feel free to ask here on the RPC's lore forum or character workshop (if it's related to your character) and we'll try to help you out!

Hope this helps! ^^
Thank you for the welcomes!
Many thanks Sounsyy for the detailed response! Looks like I've got some nice bed time reading ahead of me.
