Hydaelyn Role-Players

Hi!


Returning to Eorzea after a years break. Never really tried RPing in Final Fantasy but, it sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I've seen that Balmung is considered THE RP Server. I was just wondering if any of you would advise paying for the transfer to weasel my way into the server.

If it was released in the past thirteen years then I've probably played it. Started out on Runescape, hopped to WoW for a long time. Did some RPing, some raid leading and a bit of PVP - Just tried it all really. Started playing FFXIV on release on PS3, popped over to PC when that became available. Started playing GW2 also when that came out. That basically took over my life for a few years.

I haven't really RPed for the past three / four years. I really miss it. I have done some casual WoW stuff in the last few years but, it has been very sparse and hasn't given me my RP fix. Started RPing on Habbo roughly 11ish years ago. Then when I started playing WoW it all moved onto there. Also did a little bit in GW2 and ESO.

I am an open book. I like being flexible with my characters and being able to slot into most RP scenarios. I used to play on EU however, I want to be where all the juicy RP action is. So I'm joining NA and starting a fresh character to get myself back into the game. Lala's and Miqo'te are my favourite two races (Sorry not sorry). I'm going to be starting on a Lala because, as a 5ft 4" male I can relate to them quite easily.

• What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? (e.g. Light, medium, or heavy)
  
  

Light or Medium whilst leveling. However, once I'm at a good point where I can explore most of the world without getting my buns wrecked. Then I'll be more likely to be full-time. 

• Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc.)

Male, 21. British. Photography is my biggest hobby. I am a dog and a cat person. I have a tortoise who tries to escape every year. Pokémon is my favourite game series of all time - I don't have a favourite Pokémon as a result and, I swear way too much. I think that's enough about me.

While Balmung is arguably the longest established server for RP, it is not necessarily "THE" RP server. Beyond that, it is currently closed to all new characters - creation or transfer... so if you're not already on Balmung, you're out of luck for now.. It may open again in the future... but I wouldn't count on it, unfortunately.

However! Another NA server has quite the budding RP community. Mateus started becoming a major hub for RP when the Balmung full lock down went into effect. So if you're wanting NA server RP, that is currently your best bet.

If you decide you want to stick to EU servers, Omega is the place to go, I believe.

There are other servers with RPers on them too, such as Siren and Coeurl... but I don't think the populations of RPers on those servers are quite as big as Mateus or Omega.

Edit to add: Gilgamesh may still have a strong population of RPers on it, too, but I'm not sure. I keep reading conflicting stories as to whether or not that "community" even still exists.

I think switching to NA is the best thing for me to do right now. My connection is considerably worse to the EU servers. So that is a thing.

Last I heard Gilgamesh is very, very small compared to what it used to be, but it might have a linkshell or FC or two focused on roleplay; I've not been on it so I can't say but I recall even recently folks saying it was a challenge. That being said, I fully endorse Mateus! It's absolutely thriving, definitely on par with Balmung by now.

I had a sneaky little scout around Mateus and it's looking really great. I think I'll end up settling here :-)
