Ok, since I havent found any music-thread in this forum Ill just open one myself Wink.

But stooop, it's not a normal music-thread, I just went through my whole playlist and picked the one songs, which touched me the most. Most of them being just sad (lyrics and / or melody) but by reaching the end I had more songs (11 out of 1600) together than I initially thought I would have... I think Ill just post them to you, and if your interested in listening them youre welcome to do and if you think a song doesnt belong in here (because its just my subjective meaning that its heart-touching) you can tell me Wink.

Aaaand of course your open to post your own moving music.

P.S.: I hope I didnt oversee some rules against youtube-links with copyright content ahem...

P.P.S.: Im a bit surprised by myself, normally posting my music isnt the first thing I do in a forum, especially in a foreign language forum full of RPers...

Little warning bout the following songs, my favourite music styles are power metal and symphonic metal, means there might be a good amount of e-guitar and drumming... But also some of them are ballads which hardly use harder instruments at all.

Alexander Rybak - 13 horses ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Cry

Amorphis - Silent Waters ( Youtube | Lyrics )
One of the best Intros Ive ever heard... Sadly its a bit short Smile

Demons & Wizards - Fiddler on the Green ( Youtube | Lyrics )

Nightwish - The Poet and the Pendulum
( Part 1 Part 2 | Lyrics )
Completely epic song... Both in length, instrumental and lyrics.

Nightwish - Eva
( Youtube Lyrics included )
Hearing this I always get the picture of Lucy out of Elfen Lied in my mind and it nearly makes me cry...

Nightwish - The Islander ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Things are lightening up a bit Smile

Nightwish - Last of the Wilds ( Youtube )
One of my two favourite instrumentals... If you like e-guitar, violin and that fancy irish type of a bagpipe (forgot the name...).

Nightwish - While your Lips are still red
( Youtube Lyrics included )
And another Nightwish song... Yes, theyre one of my two favourite bands Tongue (since "Once")

Nightwish - Nemo
( Youtube | Lyrics )
The one and only... Thats a song that means a lot to me, but up to now I didnt know there was a video... But I dont like how they cut the end of the song...

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score ( Youtube Lyrics included )
Yes, yes, I know, its the last NW one.

Savage Circus - Dreamland
( Youtube )
The other instrumental, out of my favourite album *whistles innocently*... And my other favourite band, but since they play pure Power Metal I only recommend you to listen to other songs of them if you really like guitars, heavy drumming and fantasy lyrics. But if you do, theres no way past them.

Mmmh Id still have some others, but I think its enough for now, I dont even know if this thread is appreciated haha... Im gonna go for the more important stuff here now Wink
I dunno about moved my heart, but there was one piece of music from the FFXIV alpha soundtrack that made me grin from ear to ear...

Aaaaah, its like coming home Big Grin
I love Alexander Rybak!

The only song to ever make me cry:

Ayumi Hamasaki - Rainbow

Translation:
la la la...
I hear a gentle voice from somewhere
Which might have always been heard
The warmth found just near to me

I was forgiven by forgiving many things
Including my childhood so long ago
I was healed, though I intended to heal
I've just noticed, in the way
That I was saved by love
Though I tried to keep love away

You come down quietly from somewhere
And always tell me
Of the happiness just near to me

Supporting and being supported
I draw close to you little by little
Protecting and being protected
I get convinced
That I was saved by love
Though I tried to keep love away

If you have a pain hard to get over
Shall we share it and walk on?
Gathering pleasure too big for each of us
Shall we share them and walk on?

I sing this song only to you now
I sing this song only to you now
You are my special treasure
You are my special treasure

la la la...
No rain, can't get the rainbow
No rain, can't get the rainbow
<-- HUGE Nightwish fan. Been listening to them for a few years before they got popular around here (for some reason, everyone I know 'discovered' them after the Once album was released).

Quote:Nightwish - Eva ( Youtube Lyrics included )

This song is actually where I finally came up with the name for this character from. Given the lyrics, you'll come to find out in time that it's a very fitting song... :approve:

Quote:Nightwish - Last of the Wilds ( Youtube )

And my other favorite song on the album, I've begun grabbing FFXIV footage to make a video set to this song, actually. I'm surprised to see it up here.

I saw Nightwish in concert last May up in Hartford. They put on an amazing show, and I still think they're fantastic, but Anette's voice took some getting used to. I do miss Tarja. But they are definitely up there as one of my favorite bands! Do you listen to Within Temptation at all? Or Doro? I can link some stuff...

Here's a few of mine (really my top three favorite bands here). I could expand this twenty-fold without hesitation, but I'll just keep it at this for now. Sonata Arctica alone has about 40 different songs I consider favorites that I just didn't feel I had the room to include here.

Nightwish - Walking in the Air ( Youtube | Lyrics )
They played this at the concert. A fantastic song from one of their earlier albums.

Nightwish - Angels Fall First ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Amazing song!

Nightwish - Away ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Another amazing song!!

Nightwish - The Escapist ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Newer, but not on the normal Dark Passion Play album.

Nightwish - Over the Hills and Far Away ( Youtube | Lyrics )
This was probably the song that got me into the band. I love the drums! Sonata Arctica has covered this as well.

Symphony X - The Sacrifice ( Youtube | Lyrics )
One of the best newer songs by Symphony X, and works well with some of Eva's backhistory, so I may weave a video out of this one at some point as well.

Symphony X - Paradise Lost ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Awesome song - I particularly like the chorus. You'll be hearing this one soon, if you listen to the podcast.

Symphony X - Communion and the Oracle ( Youtube | Lyrics )
One of their older songs, a little more relaxed. Incidentally, the cover art on the front/back of this album (V) is by and far my favorite on any album!

Symphony X - A Fool's Paradise ( Youtube | Lyrics )
This is an older song as well, and my favorite up until the Paradise Lost album came out. Now I just can't decide!

Symphony X - The Odyssey ( Youtube | Lyrics )
A 24+ minute song about Odysseus! Greek (and Norse) mythology fascinates me. I particularly like the last 5 minutes or so of this song (Youtube only covers this part - essentially Victory put in musical form)

Sonata Arctica - White Pearl, Black Oceans ( Youtube | Lyrics )
These guys are probably my favorite band of the three. This song is beautiful.

Sonata Arctica - Fly with the Black Swan ( Youtube | Lyrics )
This one has kind of a unique sound to it, and for a very long time was my all-time favorite song.

Sonata Arctica - Gravenimage ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Another great Sonata Arctica song.

Sonata Arctica - Two Minds, One Soul ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Pretty much Dyterium's theme song.

Sonata Arctica - In the Dark ( Youtube | Lyrics )
One of the songs off their newest album - The Days of Grays! Obviously also a great song or it wouldn't be here. lol

...and last but certainly not least...

Sonata Arctica - Paid in Full ( Youtube | Lyrics )
Song has a great deal of personal meaning to me, and got me through a particularly tough time in my life. If you read the lyrics as the song progresses, you'll probably discern why...
Yeeees, I do know Within Temptation and I startet liking them on Mother earth, and theyre getting better and better... I didnt link something, because if I did id likely have to link the whole Heart of Everything album...

To admit not until the Dark Passion Play album I was really into Nightwish, its just more my style of music... But the first song I ever heard of Nightwish was Dark Chest of Wonders, and since it was on once... Wink Im so looking forward to ther next album...

And to stay on topic...

Tarot - Gone Marcos just god... Smile

Within Temptation - Never ending story
Leaves Eyes: Their entire Album.

Elegy

Farewell Proud Men

And my favorite:

Ocean's Way

Within Temptation:

Somewhere

Placebo:

Running up that Hill

Subway to Sally:

Falshcer Heiland

And EVERYTHING by these bands. Just youtube search them.

Xray Dog
Two Steps from Hell
Audiomachine
Immediate Music
E.S. Posthumus
So much Nightwish. Yes, i used to be a big fan. *nods sagely* That is, as long Tarja did the singing for them, before that new wannabe pop-princess took her place. *shivers in disgust*

Now, lets see...

Amano Tsukiko - Koe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOI9Jq8NH9Q

My favorite artist ever. this song esspecially... She sings with emotion and passion, it makes me tremble everytime.
Oh and she returned to music buiseness, I have to get myself some ticket for her next concert.. *squeels like some cheesy fangirl*

Amano Tsukiko - Chou
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tqh2NNn8ARk

My second favorite of her. Formerly the theme-song to my warrior I played in WoW.

Hey now!! I'll give you this - it's an acquired taste, and she's not Tarja, but if you give the newer albums a chance and listen to them a few times, they just might grow on you. It is a little more 'poppy' than classic old-skool Nightwish, but I still think it's good tunes. When I saw them live, it was Anette Olzon at the mic, and she sang the classics about as good as Tarja. Songs like Amaranth and Eva have powerful vocals too, and I think she's good if you give her a chance. Also I think she'll be better on the next album.

But like I said before, I do miss Tarja. It's still great, but it's just not the same....
Good god, please dont let this drift into a anette vs tarja thread... Im sure 75% of the people hear dont want to read anything about it, and this "discussion" is far too old to be interesting anymore...
I'm not gonna get into the vocal discussion, and just say that while I adore a lot of Nightwish's older stuff (Over the Hills and Far Away still being one of my favorites), the Prophet and the Pendulum is probably the Nightwish-album I listen to the most. But okay, I'm not as "hardcore" anymore as I was in High School Wink
I do think it's a shame that an actually pretty good album by many wasn't given a chance because of the lead singer drama <.<

I'm gonna change the direction a bit, and say that music that moves my heart is very often classical.

Verdi's Requiem is fantastic (Just listen to Dies Irae )

Stravinski's Firebird is one of my favorites, and if you don't have the patience to hear all of it, Disney used a pretty nice suite of it in Fantasia 2000.

While I don't listen to a lot of Le Carnival des Animaux, I adore Aquarium.

Of course there's a lot more, but I'll start with these.
Well...I can only think of one song that really gets to me. It got to me the first time and it still gets me on the the 50th play (just today).

It has always reflected how I feel all the time and it helps shape every character I've made. Emo? Yes I know.

But never forget:

I don't know why, but Marble House by The Knife does me in every time. In an almost creepy sort of way. I guess I should explain -- I was listening to pseudopod and I happened to hear this very, very moving short story. It was about this young man and woman who lived inside this great, giant building. No one had been able to go outside in generations. The top floors were full of aristocratic people who believed themselves superior in every way to the dirt crawlers in the lower floors. The top floors pretended to be happy, while they hid their pain and ugliness, where the lower floors embraced their pain and horrors. The top floor used beauty to inflict pain, where the lower floors smeared their filth so there was nothing clean left.

They warred with each other, throwing bombs at each others' levels using the landings between floors. The man and woman had grandmothers who built a fragile friendship, and they continued it.

It was a beautiful, haunting, disturbing short story.

Marble House fits it perfectly. So perfectly it gives me chills.

I cut your nails and comb your hair
I carry you down the stairs
I wanted to see right through from the other side
I wanted to walk a trail with no end in sight

The moment we believe that we have never met
Another kind of love it's easy to forget
When we are all alone then we do both agree
We have a thing in common this was meant to be

You close my eyes and soothe my ears
You heal my wounds and dry my tears
On the inside of this marble house I grow
And the seeds I sow will grow up prisoners too

The moment we believe that we have never met
Another kind of love it's easy to forget
When we are all alone then we do both agree
We have a thing in common this was meant to be

Now where's your shoulder
What is it's name
What's your scent
Say it again
If it goes faster can you still follow me
It must be safe when it's on TV

I raise my hands to heaven of curiosity
I don't know what to ask for
What has it got for me?
The others say we're hiding
It's as forward as can be
Some things I do for money
Some things I do for free
Let's switch things up a bit.
This is my favorite String Trio performed by... well ME! (I'm the skinny guy)

This was recorded three years ago and got us into an international competition in Vienna Big Grin
