On a side note, do I have to cut the HUD off if I don't it on my ss?

What situation is it failing in? Just in general? At least for PC it shows up unless you hide it, but I have a controller and have yet to find out how to hide it without using my keyboard.
It's failing in general. I'd assume it just didn't work for some reason.

No, just press L1 + Start.
