Character ideas/info
Main is Hansem Wildsteel, a miner from a poor upbringing. He quickly learns, in this new world, that he will need to add some strings to his bow if he wishes to survive, thus training currently to handle a sword and a shield. He is looking for his brother, that might have survived the cataclysm. Mining his a passion though, its in his blood.

How did you learn about the coalition?
had no idea you guys existed until I was looking for a rp group for FFXIV. its nice to meet people with the same hobby.

What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy?

Heavy, lore abidding ( still Learning the lore though ).
Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing?

I have been immersed in all FF games since day one, except FF11 since I prefered Wow at the time. I am truly excited to finally immerse myself online in a FF universe
Hope to see you online soon enough. :) Interesting character idea. Miners unite!
A bit more on Hansem

(This is a part of background that your character will not know at first, but will help you understand Hansem )

THE WELL BEING….OF OTHERS ( HANSEM’SOBSSESSION )

Hansem, while not being the quiet type, is someone whovalues efficiency and results. He is not the biggest of talkers, and prefers actions and quick thinking.

He is definitely a perfectionist. Now that he has seen the sultansworn in battle, he will strive to complete is art by learning abilities to complement his sword use (mainly white magic as he feels it is his duties to protect others.)

This incomparable obsession for the wellbeing of otherscomes from a mining accident, a collapse, where he lost his brothers during the cataclysm.

He felt powerless during the incident, and made a vow tonever let that happen again. But, is his brother dead?

A MINER’S DREAM

Hansem comes from a family of miners. He was always reallyexcited to go to the mine with his dad, and search rocks for precious metals. His family always lived off of the land, and this is why he has great respect for it and would naturally oppose everyone who tries to desecrate it.
ANOTHER WAY TO EXPLOIT A TALENT

Met this goblin fellow today, and since an adventurer is onlyreally as good as its equipment, I Listened very carefully as he explained to me how to augment weapons and armor through material. I guess this is what will distinguish me from other rag-tags out there.

Anyway, I have already amassed a considerable sum in gear inthe limited time I have been in Eorzea. So, since I wish to continue doing that, and since I have no sign of my brother yet, might as well upgrade my gear.

This means that through all my conjurer training (thosespells do indeed come in handy to a warrior, even if the training is taxing) I will have to learn yet another craft, that will allow me to craft those material.

Now, the logical thing to do would be to complement mymining interest, so I will be dropping by the guilds today to see what interests me the most….
HEARING FROM HIM….

It had been three weeks since the mining operation me and mybrother were working at had collapsed in southern Thanalan. Two brothers divided by fifty tons of rock, with only one difference. He ended up on the wrong side of the gallery.

While I was able to escape quite easily, he was not, sadly,as he was stuck in the mine. Of course many air vents were a possible escape route, but it would be extremely difficult for a Hyur to climb there. Rescue team were pilling the corpses outside the mine for days after the collapse, but my brother was never recovered, giving me a weird mix of despair and hope.

Until one week ago were I heard that someone fitting his description, who looked to be suffering from amnesia, had just boarded a caravan for Ul’dah….
( Hansem has been completely off the radar for more than a year, suffering a crushing defeat in his transition from miner to paladin...)

It was early morning when Hansem woke up. For the last 6 months, he had seen, very cleanly placed against the wall, his equipment. A very nice set of plate adorned to the colors of the Immortal Flames Grand Company. He had been a proud member of the company, but his memory had trouble remembering for how long. Hansem woke up in this very room, in Ul’Dah, several months ago.

He had no recollection of who he was, and he was heavily wounded and had lost a lot of blood. His gear was ripped open, and the identity of the assailant was unknown, but it was not human. As his duties were commanding, Hansem had probably firmly placed himself between the creature and a party member or an innocent bystander. Paladins were like that.

He was still in training, but he was certainly growing into a fine protector, and no one doubted that he acted in the greater interest of someone else by putting his life at risk.

This time, it could have been it…he could have never woke up, but his guardian deity made sure he would fight another day. Now, many questions needed an answer. The first one was to know exactly the extent of his wounds.
Grand stuff ol' being, thought I would let you know that we also have a section [here] where you can set up your own thread and work on fleshing out your character, as well as the Wiki link located at the top where you can make your very own article containing the information about Hansem.
